## What is Mastery Timer?

Mastery Timer turns the time you spend getting good at something into visible progress.

Pick the skills you want to master. Writing, reading, an instrument, a language, a sport, meditation, anything. Give each one a daily goal, and fill its bar a little more every day.

Every minute counts toward the bigger picture: the path to 10,000 hours of mastery. As your hours add up you rise through 25 ranks, from your very first session to true mastery, and the app tells you something new at every single hour. Not only at the milestones, every hour. What is shifting in your craft, what you have unlocked, how far you have come.

No points to lose. No guilt. No streaks that punish you for a missed day. Lifetime hours and ranks only ever go up. If you skip a day, a streak simply starts again, quietly. Mastery Timer is built for years of use, not for a quick hit.

Features
- Create as many skills as you want, each with its own daily goal
- A clean bar you fill each day, with a gentle gong when you reach your goal
- A lifetime mastery view: your hours, your current rank, and encouragement that changes every hour
- Tailored progress for each kind of skill, from writing to music to fitness
- Fully offline and private. Your practice stays on your device. No account, no data collected
- A calm, distraction free design

The work is the point. Mastery Timer just makes the hours add up where you can see them.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.4 — 2026-07-21

Ending a session is now easy to find. There is a clear End session button on each running skill and in the focus view, so finishing your practice is always one obvious tap. Plus small refinements under the hood.

### 1.0.3 — 2026-07-15

Every session now ends with a small receipt: the time you added, today's bar, and the moment that mattered, a new rank or a newly crossed hour. A full screen focus view keeps you company while you practice, with a dim mode for night. Each skill can set a quiet daily reminder that stays silent once the goal is met. And you can export your whole history from Settings, as a spreadsheet or a full backup.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-07-13

This update improves accuracy and privacy. It corrects the encouragement shown at higher hour counts, keeps your practice history correctly separated per account, keeps the running timer visible after you meet a goal, and removes permissions the app does not use.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-11

The timer now keeps counting with the screen off or the app closed: start a session, pocket the phone, and go practice. Sessions survive an app restart, end themselves after 8 hours if forgotten, and the goal bell rings even when the app is away. New sounds open and close each sitting, and the road to mastery is now 50 ranks deep, with mastery reserved for the summit. Also fixes a Mastery tab display issue.

### 1.0 — 2026-07-10
