### 4/5 — Accessibilité à améliorer

*2023-07-11, version 1.22*

Manque juste la possibilité de lire (visuellement) les descriptions accessibles des photos postées et cela sera parfait 😎

### 4/5 — Great app

*2023-04-06, version 1.22*

I enjoy this app a lot. The only feature requests I have:
-The ability to read alt text (If this exists I cannot find it)
-Notification badge (the red circle saying I have messages)

### 4/5 — Great app, definitely the best client I’ve used.

*2023-04-03, version 1.22*

I’ve used 4 different Mastodon clients at this point, from the official Mastodon app, to Tootle, Mammoth, to Metatext and this is definitely the cleanest, easiest to use client so far.

Very well lashed out, easy to customize and makes all of the best features of Mastodon readily available. I love the option in the explore section to go to my local timeline or the federated feed, something many clients make difficult to navigate.

One thing I really need to see in the app is a hashtag button on the main keyboard when drafting a post. Having to navigate to my special characters menu when hashtagging is the only reason this review is at 4 stars instead of 5. I’ve submitted a feature request, so fingers crossed we’ll see this in an update soon.

### 5/5 — Light, simple, elegant, functional

*2023-03-17, version 1.21*

I love this app: it works so well, it is easy to use and it feels so good. The best ux i ever seen in a third-party iOS app.

### 5/5 — Simple and Fast

*2023-03-10, version 1.21*

Performant and simple interface with all the basic customisation you’d expect. Great choice!

### 4/5 — Grate Mastodon client app

*2023-02-17, version 1.21*

Just tried this out. Took a bit of exploration, about 20 minutes, but I already prefer this to the official app. Will update in a week or so, but definitely my favorite Mastodon app so far.

### 4/5 — Way better client for iOs

*2023-02-16, version 1.21*

Only a thing, i'm not able checking at the list of users that another user is following

### 4/5 — Gut, aber nicht perfekt

*2023-02-13, version 1.21*

Gute App. Kann leider keine Screenshots posten. Sagt immer Unsupported Type. Muss wohl wechseln.

### 5/5 — SImple but functional

*2023-02-12, version 1.21*

Works well on Mac M1

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect

*2023-02-01, version 1.21*

This app is in nearly every regard the best free fediverse client I've found for any platform, ever. It's elegant, it's pretty, it's intuitive, and it feels completely native. My only gripe is the lack of support for displaying animated emoji, and the lack of an emoji picker. The emoji picker I can at least understand not having, but animated emoji not animating is a bit frustrating. At the very least make them start moving again and this could be a very easy 5 stars for me.

### 5/5 — Hier stimmt einfach alles

*2023-01-27, version 1.21*

Eine sehr schön gemachte App. Hier stimmt einfach alles. Das Eine oder Andereist noch nicht 100%-tig, aber hier stört nichts wirklich. Auf Anhieb macht die App Spaß. Danke an den Entwickler.

### 5/5 — Puts all the other apps to shame

*2023-01-26, version 1.21*

You don't need to consider any further

Ivory is what you need

Forget Mastodon, Tooot, etc etc, they're all massively inferior to this app

This is the first true killer app for Mastodon and gets anywhere close to the polished native iOS Twitter experience.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2023-01-23, version 1.21*

I love the sync feature between the devices, something missing from the "main" Mastodon app.

### 5/5 — Aufgeräumt und einfach

*2023-01-23, version 1.21*

Mein aktueller Mastodon Client - merkt sich die Leseposition über verschiedene Geräte und ist schnell und stabil. Dankeschön!

### 5/5 — It’s a clean, minimalist app

*2023-01-22, version 1.21*

I’ve gone through all the various clients, but this application seems like the best option who’d prefer a clean native iOS app. It does the job, and it does it well.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Dead app

*2025-12-30, version 1.22.1*

No new updates. No support for new Masto features. Other than that (seriously!) it's pretty good.

### 1/5 — Was great but now not as much

*2024-09-15, version 1.22.1*

I use Mastoot for pawoo and baraag but for some unknown reason it stopped using pawoo now it won’t even bring up other social media outlets that it supports.

Although when I use pawoo through my main computer pawoo works fine, would not recommend.

### 1/5 — Login just not working

*2022-11-11, version 1.13*

The app is not working

### 2/5 — Who knows?

*2022-12-06, version 1.19.1*

Might be great but it won’t let me login to my account.
Like so much mastodon stuff, it could be duff.

### 3/5 — Bring back push notifs

*2026-01-08, version 1.22.1*

It’s better than the default mastodon app in some ways. Idk if it’s better. Does not crash when scrolling the feed like default app. That’s the reason why I use it.

### 3/5 — Doesn’t show text descriptions

*2022-12-28, version 1.21*

It’s a great app, and I’d give it 5 stars if it showed the text description of a picture when I touched the picture, as other Mastodon clients do. Text descriptions on pictures are pretty important for Mastodon. But in this client it doesn’t seem to be possible to see a picture’s text description at all. You can create a text description when you make a post and attach a picture, but you can’t see the descriptions of pictures in posts you read.

### 3/5 — Missing key features

*2022-11-30, version 1.18.1*

There’s no easy way to switch between accounts, and it doesn’t even show pinned toots. That second issue is a dealbreaker for me. Pinning a toot as an introduction is such a common practice on mastodon that not being able to see them makes this client largely unusable. I’ll stick with it for a bit to see if it improves, especially now that Metatext is done. I like the interface of the app generally, and composing toots seems good. It’s not as intuitive to add a image description and you can’t choose how the Image is cropped like on most other mastodon apps.

### 3/5 — Not working

*2022-11-07, version 1.13*

It says it can’t download posts. I’m on mastodon.social and although I can see the local and federated timelines, I can’t see my timeline or any mentions, etc

### 4/5 — Cool mit kleinen Schwächen

*2025-11-10, version 1.22.1*

### 4/5 — Nice

*2024-03-23, version 1.22.1*

Neat little app for accessing Mastodon servers, but no option to auto-play animated gifs.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice, clean and simple

*2026-03-31, version 1.22.1*

This app is nice, clean and simple. Very lightweight and responsive. The only issue is having to wait for videos to load with no visual clue.

It’s such a shame the author is no longer updating it.

### 5/5 — Best Mastodon Client of all

*2024-04-11, version 1.22.1*

Focused to the important aspects:
- keeps safely the reading position
- handy fav and RT function by swiping left/right
- quick and thin

Alles andere ist Schnickschnack!

### 5/5 — Legit

*2023-10-09, version 1.22*

Works with federated timeline. Can add multiple accounts. Scrolling through posts is smooth and quick. No data collection or in app purchases. The only problem I have is when I comment on a post I’m not seeing it pop up until I go back to the post. Not a deal breaker considering its smooth functionality. Best app I’ve tried so far (even better than Metatext which seems to be on hiatus). Doubt there is a better app out there imo.

### 5/5 — Top

*2023-07-24, version 1.22*

Simple, intuitive, tout est bon.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2023-07-19, version 1.22*

Free, no data collection and has heaps of useful features

### 5/5 — Better than Ivory

*2023-07-11, version 1.22*

So the creators of ivory seem to be riding their own coattails and not fixing bugs that are glaring while small developers aren’t charging and make amazing apps like Mastoot. There’s several others that are great as well but I’ve landed on this one as a favorite. Think twice before spending money ($50 per YEAR for MacOS and iOS separately for Ivory because the greed just never ends) and support small developers and donate as you can. I don’t want this to become another monopoly and it seems those at the top as per usual are fine pulling the ladder up behind them. Support small developers. Amazing app.

### 5/5 — The most Twitter-like client

*2023-06-30, version 1.22*

I try other clients out, but I always come back to Mastoot. Many of us find some comfort in the way Twitter looked, and this client really bridges that gap. If you are coming over from that nightmare of a site, this should be the app you jump into first.

If I could make some recommendations, I would ask for a way to “quote tweet” toots via generating an image of the toot and the allowing text with the image embedded (Mammoth can do this, I think).

Also, and I find this to be an oversight on the dev team’s part, but favoriting and boosting need to be at the bottom of every toot, not hiding behind an ellipses submenu. These kinds of feedback are crucial to the entire network, and boosting should be front and center.

Even with those deficiencies, though, this is still a five star app. Stable. Nice looking. Simple.

Great work.

### 5/5 — A great Mastodon client

*2023-06-09, version 1.22*

I honestly have no issues with this. The UI is nice and looks like a native iOS app plus being able to change the icon and accent color is a good feature. Also it’s free

### 5/5 — Almost perfect

*2023-05-09, version 1.22*

When trying to pick a Mastodon client, I have to admit this one first jumped out at me because of how cute the icon is. But the reviews sold me on it, and I'm really pleased with this client. It's very straightforward and intuitively organized. It's easy to find whatever I want. The only feature requests I have are a character counter so I can tell how close I am to the limit instead of just guessing; and a way to access the extra emojis that are available in the browser version. (This second one is less of a big deal because you can manually insert them if you know the name of the emoji.) Overall I'm really happy with Mastoot and hope it continues to just get better and better!

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2023-04-24, version 1.22*

Just the right features in a simple, clean and beautiful design. Great app!
