Browsing and sorting profiles
With the free plan, you can browse profiles based on your selected area and age range (these are the only filters you can try with free plan!), and you can then sort the profiles. It’s a small feature, but it does make browsing a little easier. What I don’t like: 1. Too many essential features are locked behind payment
Almost all useful features require a paid subscription. You cannot communicate with people you have matched with, not even one person, unless you pay for a plan. The additional filters are also locked, so you cannot filter for basic preferences such as whether someone smokes or drinks. As a result, the free version feels like you can do little more than browse profiles. 2. Profile-photo verification is frustrating
The verification interface is slow, not user-friendly, and repeatedly rejects photos. In my experience, the process was unnecessarily difficult, despite having completed photo verification successfully on other platforms before. 3. The “Forgot my password” function doesn’t work
I tried the password-reset option multiple times and never received a reset email. Even more frustrating, when I contacted support, I received an email telling me to use the exact same “Forgot my password” button, which was precisely the problem I was contacting them about in the first place! Constructive feedback for match: 1. Improve the verification process
Make photo verification faster, more reliable, and clearer about why a photo has been rejected. 2. Fix the password-reset system and improve support
The password-reset function should work consistently, and support should provide an actual solution rather than directing users back to the same feature that isn’t working, this will lead many users to leave essentially. 3. Offer some essential features to free users
Consider allowing basic filters and at least limited communication with matches without requiring an immediate subscription. This would give users a genuine opportunity to experience the app rather than simply browse it. 4. Make the free experience more useful
A better free experience could actually encourage users to subscribe because they would first be able to see the value of the platform. At the moment, the restrictions feel excessive and may discourage potential users rather than encourage them to pay. ### 1/5 — Locking everything behind a paywall is straight up contradictory *2026-08-04, version 26.13.00* How am i supposed to find someone if you lock messaging behind paywalls? Dosent that go against the entire point of this app? Locking who likes you behind paywalls is stupid too. Im tired of these dating apps that give people a false sense of being seen if they pay, get out of my face with that nonsense ### 1/5 — 1 in 5 accounts are fake made worse by scammers / hackers *2026-08-04, version 26.13.00* I challenge anyone to put a c suite title in your profile and watch the amount of scammers that will try and entice you. You call them out and they simply delete the account and it all starts again. I estimate that 1 in 5 accounts are scammer accounts. Match does nothing to protect its users it simply wants more money. Latest iPhone and iOS and it just crashes constantly. Makes the app useless. I think they are using a bot to auto block accounts and it is getting it wrong but a human has to reinstate your account which can take 2 days. They also make it difficult to reach their customer service team in the UK so I had to contact the UK team via the US. I don’t like paying for something that doesn’t work. ### 5/5 — Terrible *2022-02-28* You can’t say anything in your profile without them removing it, I have no idea why multiple versions of mine were removed when they contained no swear words or anything remotely risky. They don’t tell you why it’s removed so you can’t amend it, it just goes and you have to start again. Top 100 picks of the day are basically the same profiles recycled every few days so nothing new and if someone is in your top 100 picks it counts as a profile view so some men that were too persistent kept coming up in my picks and thought I was still visiting their profile causing them to become even more persistent. I think this is dangerous as some people on the site do not take no for an answer. You can only read one message at a time when someone makes contact and are forced to make a decision if you want to chat before you can see any of the other message contacts. Why? I basically felt I had no control over my profile or where I went on the site and was rushed into making decisions about who I wanted to talk to. What we'd recommend is to run a search for local profiles with only your essential preferences, and it should give you a better picture. Although invitations to chat are shown in the order they are received all messages from accepted contacts can be read as you would like. A direct link to maps so as well as distance you can see where they are in relation to you. Also helps with planning mid point dates. Saves having to go to google maps every time. ### 3/5 — Mmmm! *2023-01-28* I do wish Match wouldn’t keep matching me with ladies whose requirements I don’t meet, such as age and height! As a consequence of which I’m spending too much time sifting and checking. I’m also getting fed up with seeing the same old faces so I decide to thin them out by blocking those that didn’t suit me but Match keep showing them to me. I’m also amazed at those that don’t send a reply to my simply hello’s which is rude not to acknowledge, even if in a polite no thank you but I wish you well manner. We all have one thing in common which is to search and hope that we get matched with a potential partner or spouse I find that most of the ladies I’ve chatted with either don’t really know what they’re looking for or are expecting their Prince Charming to come along and sweep them off of their feet - which ain’t gonna happen under any circumstances girls. Finally I feel that Match should view every main photograph and, where necessary, advise ladies to a) show a head and shoulders image, rather than some distant image at a holiday resort and b) stop filtering their faces that turns men off much more than seeing a few laughter lines! Alice, The Match team ### 3/5 — Good and bad *2021-01-27* I joined with a six month membership and still hope Match delivers but it's not a totally happy experience so far in terms of the app itself (the website has its own drawbacks too). On the good side there do seem to be a reasonable number of active members on Match which creates at least the possibility of meeting someone. On the bad side the UI is awful and very annoying to navigate, and the search facility extremely clunky. It's impossible to remove likes you are not interested in or unlike to correct fat finger mistakes you make. This is especially annoying when your likes start filling up with unavailable profiles or profiles without photos. A very serious defect is that edits you make to your profile are not automatically updated in the app unless you log out and log in again or delete the app and reinstall. The impression I have is that Match trades on its reputation as the biggest global dating site but there has not been a corresponding investment in the algorithm or the interface. Thank you. ### 3/5 — Not bad but could be better! *2017-10-16* Been on and off this dating site for a number of years now and only had 1 date, whether that’s due to lack of men my age group on the dating site or whether I’m pretty ugly, I don’t know! In terms of the app on the mobile, it’s not bad but could be made much better. It’s fairly user friendly and some nice features such as the shuffle, wink and being able to block or report unwelcome attention. The app could be made better by:- - Don’t like it if I tick someone in the shuffle that they end up in my favourites. - Allowing the user to edit any part of the text in the profile without having to delete parts so you read the end bit. - being able to delete searches saved - distance of a profiles being more accurate (several people live within 10 miles of me yet match states distance as 50 miles). - shuffle sometime has very limited number of profiles. - shuffle offers profiles that I don’t wish to be considered in my age group I.e. way too young or too old. - the cost of the app makes it expensive when you can only allow 10 messages per day. Sometime I don’t want to be rude so reply even if just to say not my type, but it’s used my allowance making me appear rude & ignorant if I don’t respond. - may not use any messages for several days but then may need more another day. -should be easier to cancel subscription. Ok, well I think I’ve covered everything.
