Unfortunately the stats that should help you better understand how to adjust your play style don’t work properly and just sit at 100% for most when that is far from the truth. Additionally many features of the app are very slow including the wait time in between hands and loading the main menu screen. I’m not sure if I will continue using this app, but if these bugs are fixed it would be my go to poker app. **Developer response:** Thank you so much for your measured and considered feedback. We have had some reports of issues with our stats. It seems that a small percentage of our players have issues with nearly every stat, whereas other players have no issues with any of our stats. Unfortunately, you seem to be in the category with the bugs. I alerted our developers to this a little while ago when we first received emails about it, and my understanding is that the issue is proving quite elusive. Normally, the Devs are quite quick to fix these sorts of issues, but until they can get to the bottom of what’s causing this, I won’t have an estimate for when this would be fixed. Also, “The Lab” makes no sense and is super buggy, the “Analyze” button is completely broken in review, and what’s the point of sorting by IMFP rating versus chips won if the list is the exact same?? I got a three of a kind and the game would not let me play it’s annoying cuz I would have won that hand. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your review. We introduced this feature because too many players are frivolously going all-in, pre-flop, with poor cards. If a player does this and loses the hand, we now sit them out of the next hand, as a penalty for losing their chips. Otherwise, there is no significant penalty for a player losing all their chips, since they reset every hand. We're sorry you missed a good hand because of this. ### 4/5 — Random comments *2022-11-29, version 2.15.0* 1. I really enjoy the app, great learning tool! 2. Stats are unhelpful but I guess people like stats! I would really like to see what others do on the hand, especially at my table and what the highly rated players did at other events. For example: I 3 bet a hand and everybody folds but other players at my seat score much higher…why? Did they do the same as me but got called/raised or did they do it differently? Would like to see replays at other tables…. 3. What about heads up tournaments at this format? I think it would make a fantastic event! 4. Other poker games I.e. You're not the first person to suggest a heads-up format and we are busily tweaking and refining our concept of this offer, as it needs to fit the Match Poker Online offering. 4. We've had requests for Omaha. We absolutely can make this into a sport version, like Match Poker did with Texas Hold'em, but this is further off, as we are still refining our core offering. We hope you'll continue to enjoy the app. Thanks for the 5-star review! ### 5/5 — Great idea - very different from real poker *2022-07-30, version 2.4.9* I love the concept around this app and it is true that this values skill per hand to maximize profits in a short term game against opponents. However this varies greatly from the goals of poker. In poker the goal is to make money over the long term, not outplay your opponents. It is not a bad thing that these two goals are different but it is very important for new players to understand these differences and not expect to play the same way in the different games. For example in this game, you may make a good fold where the rest of the players gambled a bit and got lucky with a big pot. This puts you very behind the rest with risk of elimination. In order to avoid elimination your are now incentivized to play a much wider range of hands than your opponents in attempt to get the nuts and take down a large pot to catch up to the pack and avoid elimination. On the other side if you hit a big pot and the rest did not, you would be incentivized to tighten much more than GTO would prefer in a 6 max game in order to hold your lead. There are many more examples where play differs here than in cash poker, and as I mentioned before the important thing is not to criticize these differences but embrace them and adjust both the stats and rankings to fit the different play. Right now the stats reflect a GTO play style but that should not be the case for most matches in this game. I hope that this can be adjusted to fit the style of play required for this game and I am very excited to see where it goes! We are very aware they are present, but you may be surprised to hear that our main goal is actually to bring our game more in line with real poker. We think we've gotten off to a great start and built a loyal player base, but we really want to start holding larger tournaments that more resemble tournament play in live poker. Of course, we'll still keep the unique Match Poker elements that make this a sport and a game of skill. Thanks again for your well-thought-out review and we hope that you will be a long-term and very pleased supporter of our app. ### 3/5 — Flawed *2022-07-01, version 2.3.1* Great concept to practice your game in my opinion, however there are problems, that could confuse a lot of people trying to learn. For example, in hypothetical hand, where you play it correctly (let’s say make a correct fold to a pot sized all-in bet with a weak flush draw on the turn), and the flush gets there on the river, and you analyze the hand, it will say that you are on the “worse end of the player pool” because let’s just say a good majority of the players called the theoretical bet and got there on the river. It’s results-oriented in a lot of places. Also, when you analyze your play in a 32- hand “battle royale,” they will give you stats on your play such as vpip (voluntary put money in pot). My first battle royale i had like 45% vpip or something. My second I had like a 15%. They told me i play too wide and then too tight the second time. Theoretically this is correct, however ITS ONLY 32 HANDS. there is not a big enough sample size to accurately describe a players vpip or other stats they took, and to a newer player, would be very frustrating since they would assume they wouldn’t be doing anything right. All in all though, decent place to practice your game on a mobile device, just ignore the analyzation options in the “lab” or whatever it’s called. **Developer response:** Hi, Thank you for your considered feedback. This is very much appreciated. We are very glad you can see us as a valuable resource for practicing poker on a mobile. You are correct, of course, that over a sample size as small as 32 hands, your VPIP (which we call VEP for simplicity - 'voluntarily entered pot') does not reflect optimum play - but it certainly does over a longer run of hands. We still find lots of players loving this feature, which will become much more accurate as we develop longer-term analysis.. Your second point is correct as well. There is an easy and stunning fix to this – get heaps of your friends to join up. Fundamentally we are in our very early stages and need 5 times the number of players to ensure that your particular player pool reflects your skills in the game. As more and more players join up, more players will be at (or around) your skill level. The game will then become much more interesting, much more compelling and the results will be a much truer reflection of skill. After you’ve considered this, we’d welcome you to reconsider you rating of 3, because the fact is that the higher the rating, the more players are likely to join up. We appreciate your feedback! ### 5/5 — Competitive poker without monetary risk *2022-04-09, version 1.6.0* They cracked the code, this is free to play poker that people take seriously and try hard at, without any risk of financial downside. The app is well made and smooth; a few bugs early on but they have improved rapidly. We are working hard to make this experience even better and have many exciting developments in the pipeline! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Do not try to use this to improve your poker skills *2023-09-29* First of all, the statistics they give you are not very useful, doing certain things a certain amount of times will not help your game. Playing the cards in the right position will. Second of all, the statistics contradict themselves, the app told me I played too loose and then too tight, which is it? Third of all, the players on the app are not skilled enough to help you improve, I played a hand as the button where I bluffed the A-10 straight after a KQJ flop and got check raised by K6. No time to even consider if I potentially had the straight. If you play against players who are not skilled enough to realized that a pair of kings loses to a straight you are not going to improve your game. This is a complete waste of time because you will only be as good as the people you play with and the people in this app are the worst poker players you could find. **Developer response:** Hi, I'm so sorry that our app is falling short of your expectations. We are still developing and, although we have come a long way, we still have a way to go before we are the app we always envisioned we would be. As for the app telling you that you played too loose, then too tight, is it possible you were looking at different frames of reference...? For example, perhaps you played tight in your 'last match' but have been loose overall in your 'last 5 matches' (depending on what you set this metric to). Lastly, we do apologise if the standard of play is not what you were hoping for. We endeavour for our app to be one that can train poker players to improve - occasionally, this means that the players you compete against will not already be very good players. However, we have a solution to this. We will soon be introducing an environment exclusively for players who meet certain metrics, such as playing the proper pre-flop ranges, acting with the appropriate aggressiveness, etc. This will hopefully address the main issue you seem concerned about. We try to make our app one that can offer something to players of all skill levels, but you are correct that we have, in trying to promote ourselves as a training app, neglected to cater to more experienced players. But whenever I’m moved to a new seat the game bugs out and I’m never taken to a new seat. I try going back in and still doesn’t let me. Then I lose those rubies because of those glitches. Also, WHY are people allowed to raise to 120 after someone bet 110? That’s basic stuff right there. **Developer response:** Hi, Thanks for your review. In relation to your second comment, are you able to go into the LAB --> Review Your Hands, and find the match where this happened? You can then film a short clip and send it to us because a player should not be able to raise to 120 after a previous player raised to 110. That sounds like a glitch we would need to investigate. Apologies again for making such a bad impression with these two glitches. We hope this has not dissuaded you from enjoying our app. ### 1/5 — Needs a lots of Improvement *2023-07-02* I have been playing competitive poker for some time and consider myself an advocate for the “sport” of poker. I have a lot of ideas for improvement, coming from an esports background. I reached out to the developers of the app via their social media handles (Instagram) but unfortunately they were not interested in collaborating. **Developer response:** Hi, we're so sorry about our current delay in responding to emails. I must tell you, though, that you were playing against a human. Fortunately, we have over 50 players in our app at any one time, so we have no need for AI or 'bots' - there's always plenty of humans searching for a match. What you have described, however, is part of a larger issue - that players need to be more strongly disincentivised from going all-in too flippantly. Fortunately, we are introducing a measure very shortly which we believe will curb the overly-aggressive play. The concept is cool but I highly doubt the integrity of it. Seems like it’s all bots playing out a set number of preprogrammed hands. Please let us know what else we might be able to do to earn a higher rating from you in the future. ### 1/5 — Good idea terrible design and buggy *2022-07-19, version 2.4.9* The game concept is very interesting and I was looking forward to playing. However upon attempting to join a battle royale I was kicked from my lobby my first 3 tries then the app restarted. When I finally was able to join I was able to play 4 hands, at which point my cards stopped displaying and my hand was automatically folded every new hand. At this point this app is unusable, unclear why it was released so early and why marketing has already gone underway. Very underdeveloped so far. Along with this the UI design looks terrible and cheap, I’ve seen many free poker apps with much nicer design and layout. I want to like this game, but the problems mentioned above make that impossible. I hope to see updates in the future that remedy this. **Developer response:** Thanks for this review. The message said that I needed to wait for the other players to complete their hands. That’s understandable, but for it to not move past that in a half hour is not. I don’t think I’ll waste more time with this until they have the issues worked out. **Developer response:** Hi, I'm so sorry to hear that you fell victim to this unfortunate bug that existed in our game - in your first tournament, no less! A few people wrote to us last week about games getting stuck waiting for other players and not proceeding (thought it was very rare) and we've since fixed the bug. A player should never wait more than a minute or two for other tables to finish in a worst-case scenario. We hope that, now that this (and other teething issues) have been fixed, we can entice you back to our game. We are committed to making this the best poker experience for our players - fixing any and every bug as quickly as possible. The idea of a practice game is a great one too - we are working on a training feature we call 'Famous Hands', where players can play hands from pivotal moments in real tournaments, to see how they would have performed. We're very sorry to hear our game didn't give you an enjoyable experience. We are, however, constantly updating the features in the app - it won't be long before there are multiple game modes that hopefully appeal to all varieties of players. However, I am consistently logged out of my account with no way to log back in. I am automatically signed in as a guest, and there is no option to return to the starting screen where I can switch to my account. Additionally, The “32 hand tournament” does not work for me. When I join, I’m placed into an existing quick match??? It was continuously improving, the fixes were addressing what users were suggesting, and this was really going to become a tool that serious cash game poker players could put to their advantage. My only problem is that I have really crappy internet service and it constantly disconnects and re-connects. Fortunately, it always returns me to the last matchup. I can say we do have a large number of amateur players in our app, as we pride ourselves on being a valuable tool to learn the intricacies of poker, but it is unlikely you will play against them if our algorithm determines that you are a skilled player. We segregate players based on skill so that good players don't have their playing experienced ruined by amateur play (and so that players who are still finding their footing aren't being preyed upon by sharks). I'm sorry about the poor connectivity issues. We are currently close to implementing multiple deterrent mechanisms that we believe will work to disincentivise this behaviour. ### 5/5 — All in fest *2023-04-23* It would be interesting to see the format change to a tournament style betting structure where the all-in donkeys would be penalized for shoving every hand. Start every player with 10k or so in chips. There could be a re-buy option to keep players in longer, but those should be limited and earned via good play/results. Players should also be able to see how many re-buys their competitors have made with some kind of icon or pop up. It’d be nice to know if you were sitting down with a hyper aggressive all-in type player. To really be able to improve in live play where real money is involved, the simulation needs to better match reality. I feel that the lack of a penalty for constant all-ins by players who wouldn’t bet that way with real money is the game’s only fault. **Developer response:** Thank you for this terrific suggestion and great review!
