## What is Matcha?

Most apps that block distractions let you tap "Skip" the moment you get bored. Matcha doesn't. Ending a session means physically walking to an NFC tag and scanning it — friction that's real, not theatrical.

Block on your terms
Pick which apps and websites count as distractions and lock them behind a Mode — a block list or an allow list, built on Apple's Screen Time framework. Start a session and those apps disappear behind a shield until you scan your tag again.

Schedules
Set recurring windows — mornings, work hours, bedtime — and Matcha locks itself automatically at that time, no tag required to start. It stays locked until the window ends or you scan your tag, whichever comes first.

Pause instead of block
Not every app deserves a hard wall. Turn on Pause for a Mode and opening a gated app shows a short breathing screen first instead of an outright block. Most of the time, the urge passes before the screen does. If it doesn't, you can continue through.

Strict mode
Worried you'll talk yourself out of a session? Strict mode requires the same NFC tag you started with to end it early — no settings menu workaround.

Activity
See how much time you actually spent in blocked apps, how many sessions you ran, and how often you resisted opening something during a Pause.

Matcha is built entirely on Apple's Screen Time APIs (Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity) — no ad network, no usage data leaving your phone.

Note: I replaced your in-progress description rather than appending to it, since it was cut off mid-sentence in the screenshot — check it doesn't duplicate anything you'd already drafted beyond what's visible.
