My son asked everyday if the app is fixed. So we emailed the developer and received a nice reply that they are working to fix it. Looking forward to using the app soon. My cousins, who range in age from 5-11, absolutely love this game. Getting kids excited about practicing math is one of the most difficult educational tasks, but this game provides the perfect compromise for any parent or teacher. Kids are able to practice their skills, while enjoying the game itself. I only wish I had a tool like this when I was in school. It sure beats math workbooks any day of the week! I highly recommend this game to anyone with kids, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces or nephews. Or for any adult out there needing some brushing up on their arithmetic! :) ### 5/5 — Interactive, easy to use & educational *2013-11-01, version 2.0.0* Math Evolve is a great app to have around when you're waiting for your coffee, food or just sitting at home on the couch (it works great on the small iPhone screen!) In addition, as a graduate student writing papers all the time, I find myself playing Math Evolve just to get the brain juices flowing. It is an interactive and engaging way to brush up on math skills or learn entirely new ones. The different levels allow you to structure your learning and master multiple areas of math. Think Space Invaders! ;-) This would be good for doing math facts and problems and keeping the boredom "enemy" at bay. I could see it being popular with elementary (and older) kids especially boys. It was hard to hold the iPad and shoot. It may be easier with a smaller device like an iPhone or iPod. ### 5/5 — Great Game! *2013-06-06, version 1.5* Math Evolve is a fun engaging math drill game set in outer-space for elementary level kids. There are 2 modes you can play in: Practice mode or Story mode. In Practice mode, you choose the operation - addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division, as well as the speed and difficulty levels. In this mode, it is fairly easily to figure out how to cheat to get the right answer. Story mode proves to be much more challenging and engaging even though you choose the equations. In it, you must not only solve the equations, but ward off attackers at the same time. The story mode is pure genius...as kids need to really have assimilated the material to perform under the stress of evasion. I also liked the fact while in story mode, you had to use both hands to get through the level, and therefore use both sides of your brain. There are no in add purchases or ads, but there is a link to other games, discreetly hidden in a corner on the profile page. Highly recommended. ### 5/5 — Favorite Math Game *2013-05-30, version 1.5* As the title says, this is my favorite math game for the iPad or iPhone. It is an absolute blast to play and you can feel yourself getting noticeably better at math as you play. I used to be very quick with mental math when I was younger and playing Math Evolve has gotten me back up to speed in no time. It reminds me of an old PC game called Math Blaster. Both games are so much fun and engaging they keep you coming back for more learning. Highly recommend for parents to get their kids exited about learning math, and adults interested in keeping their minds and math skills quick. ### 5/5 — Most intense & awesome Edutainment app out there! *2012-08-03, version 1.31* My son hated math. He was tired of the practice, practice, practice mentality of his school, and was outright refusing to do any math whatsoever. Then, this game came along, This app is not for Kindergarteners new to math. My son was in first grade when we purchased this app. He still plays it all the time. This app is definitely appealing to highly distractible boys who don't want to feel like they are learning . . . Ever! This app is so fast and intense, your child won't have time to notice he is learning, and surely won't care! One tip for parents, you may want to sit there with your child and help him with the math initially - especially if it is a new concept. But, don't worry, he will insist on doing it by himself in no time. This app is worth it's weight in gold. I tried this game. I'm good at math. But even at the slowest turtle pace, simple addition problems, say 21+23, flash onscreen for 2 seconds, maximum 3, before vanishing (the numbers remain at the top but that means switching your attention when you should be focusing on the addition), and there's a definite pressure to remember the numbers you've seen that is greater than the simple challenge of adding them. I regret buying this game. Our ten year old doesn't like it and I have no intention of exposing our six year old to something so fast. If turtle pace really meant that, and it was relaxed and gentle, this could be an excellent tool. But I think it's potentially stress-inducing to anyone who doesn't function at a fast pace, and we have taught our children meditation to slow their thoughts down. I don't want a math game that speeds everything up, at least not in the initial stages. There are different difficulty settings for each of my children, and they love competing. This is my all time favorite, hands down. My son doesn’t even realize that he is learning and plays it for as long as I let him. People were amazed when he was working with negative numbers at six years old. The games also include “solve for the missing number” type questions(precursor to basic algebra so to speak) along with basic math facts. It was the best app for moving my son from needing to count on his fingers to using his memory. It happened like magic. So much better than our mutual tears over flash cards, and other apps like Xtra Math. Instead of seeing a timer, which stressed him out, the answers just come closer and pass out of range if he is not fast enough. It’s, “Oh darn”, verses”I’m stupid” which is how timed apps made him feel. Love it. Better than ABCYa or anything else I’ve tried. LOVE IT!
