### 4/5 — amazing !!!

*2026-02-05, version 1.3.8*

typing equations is so much easier now

### 4/5 — App funktioniert nicht mehr (Juli 2025)

*2025-06-05, version 1.3.8*

Gut so!

### 4/5 — Works so much better than I expected.

*2025-05-08, version 1.3.8*

Needs internet to work unfortunately, otherwise, works really well.

### 3/5 — Crushes equation Tab on Pages app

*2024-11-16, version 1.3.8*

- While loading an equation through Pages equation tab, crashes the User Interface making the request input contextual menu shrink height making it unusable, therefore to continue must close the and try loading it again, think this issue is related to the height difference between native keyboard and MathKey’s one as it’s taller so it makes crash Apple UI

- also it’s unsuitable while having iPad’s shrink floating keyboard, it won’t work while switching to MathKey’s, will skip out till finding a size comparable keyboard

- when training to write several steps of an equation, on pages it replaces the previous inserted equation with the new one even though you inserted a new line or used the “enter” button in Pages app amusing to have a baser user experience since it may seemed like a lot of steps to really write an equation due to having to transform it whenever using MathLM Pages App, or same behavior while using Latex Microsoft’s Word app or OneNote

### 2/5 — Can’t type because of something wrong with the internet

*2024-10-22, version 1.3.8*

What happened to your Internet connection?

### 3/5 — Good but not enough

*2024-09-20*

1. The keyboard doesn’t work without internet connection. It is necessary to pull your ocr model into the device.
2. Conflicts with Apple Pencil Scribble. The keyboard collapses automatically every time I try to write some words using Scribble. Since it’s a system defined behavior and the developer cannot make changes, could you add the script recognition functionality in the app’s main entry so that I can handle this problem using Split View?

### 4/5 — Enlarge preview size

*2024-07-30, version 1.3.8*

Works well on GoodNotes, though for longer expressions, the preview gets really small, which makes it tough to see if what got rendered matches what I intended to write. Unless I’m missing some way to enlarge the preview, some way or setting to adjust the preview size would be nice.

### 4/5 — Sehr hilfreich!

*2024-06-15, version 1.3.8*

### 3/5 — It kinda works but it's not complete yet

*2024-06-09, version 1.3.8*

So I think this app is very helpful, but I am really missing two features: it cannot be used offline - as stated in the description, but offline conversion would be amazing as mobile internet is not the fastest in a lot of regions - and there is only a limited drawing area, it would be great if one could scroll on that area to be able to input larger calculations without having to spilt them into several images.

### 3/5 — Wish I knew the limitations before purchasing

*2024-04-07, version 1.3.8*

My goal was to find something that could transform handwritten mathematical equations into text/images. This app does, in fact, accomplish this. However, when the variable involves multiple subscripts, the app fails to recognize this and places a single value instead. Seeing as I was using the geodesic equation to test the limits, I can understand the issue and would not have any qualms about it if the app allowed me the chance to correct the situation. Since I can’t see what the text value converts to, it’s difficult to know if something has to be fixed. Furthermore, when converting it into an image, the written equation vanishes, leaving you to rewrite it blindly which ends up resulting in the same problems. This means I have to edit the image on a separate app which defeats the purpose in my opinion. There also seems to be certain elements it has trouble with converting to image, such as angstrom.

A solution would be to have the written equation remain after copying it so that you can adjust accordingly. This would also help the issue of not being able to see what the text result would produce (unless you are fluent in LaTex or MathML).

That being said, I find myself reverting back to using word on a computer instead of being able to use my iPad which makes this a waste of $8. If there was also an option of a math keyboard with the ability to type mathematical symbols (like Greek letters, subscripts, etc…) I would feel the price was worth it. Hopefully my $8 will assist in getting this app up to the standards I expected for future use.

### 1/5 — How do i start writing ?

*2024-09-22, version 1.3.8*

All I see are a few cards on the landing page. One says remote keyboard the other says guide the other says settings. How do I start a new file? Are we in jokester land??

### 1/5 — Does not seem to work

*2024-05-23, version 1.3.8*

### 1/5 — How to use

*2024-04-15, version 1.3.8*

How the heck do I actually use this app to convert handwriting on my ipad to latex code? I find the guide to be useless! Did my $7.5 just go down the drain?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — suggestion

*2026-01-09, version 1.3.8*

It is good! However, can developer add a shortcut or button for me to quick type $$ or mk since obsidian need this to start write the latex expression.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-11-21, version 1.3.8*

Nadlren, I think there are some incorrect displays due to my writing. Generally, however, it does the job perfectly. It saves a lot of time and effort, especially with long formulas.

### 5/5 — super einfach, sehr gut!

*2025-11-02, version 1.3.8*

### 5/5 — Highly Reccomend

*2025-09-18, version 1.3.8*

Super helpful tool if you’re like me and would rather write out math instead of typing tedious latex commands. Accuracy is usually spot on if you write with decent handwriting. The website is super helpful too, I like writing on my iPad and having it instantly send to my computer where I can either copy the latex code or just copy the output as an image.

*2025-06-01, version 1.3.8*

### 5/5 — Phone to laptop

*2025-02-18, version 1.3.8*

Works great for generating Latex from my phone that I can paste into a document on my laptop.

### 5/5 — Perhaps the best handwriting to image/ latex converter

*2024-07-24, version 1.3.8*

As a retired Math instructor, I believe that nothing comes close to handwritten math when it comes to really communicating and working on mathematical ideas. I have tried several pieces of software that convert handwritten math to images and latex code, and they all seem to be getting better, with the advent of AI. But Mathkey is , in my mind , the best: I really like the big writing canvas which allows for long mathematical expressions, the transcription is instant, and usually very accurate, the simplicity of the interface is also welcome. The affordability of the app is also a great plus. I am not quite sure how to improve it, except to continue working on handwriting recognition (sometimes one has to handwrite the equation two or three times before the handwriting is correctly recognized). Another idea is integration with a free computational engine such as Wolfram Alpha. One , can, of course, copy and paste the latex code into Wolfram Alpha, but it would be nice if a "button" existed in Mathkey, which would directly submit the code to Wolfram Alpha, right away. Such an online app did use to exist: it was called Web Equation, but it has now been discontinued. Perhaps it was buggy, but, I believe it is worth experimenting with the idea. However, the app. is already fantastic, as it is.

### 5/5 — Must-have for any STEM

*2024-04-15, version 1.3.8*

A critical tool in my kit for doing any kind of work with equations. Writing university reports is now 2 times faster than typing LaTeX by hand. Taking notes is now as easy by writing them by hand, but they don’t look horrible. Worth it 101%.

### 5/5 — Super App

*2024-02-01, version 1.3.8*

Funktioniert super. Man kann sich nicht beschweren.

### 5/5 — EXCELLENT PRODUCT

*2023-11-28*

Its very much useful to make a note of the important formulas
