There is only one dark skin option and two very light brown options. The one dark skin option has blonde hair. There is no reason why you can’t include more avatar options for different races. I have a third grader, an eighth grader and a tenth grader. Mathmax gives you a choice to add kids to your own profiles. The only thing I'll changing is to add middle school grades as an option.
