As I continued to use it, there were a few robot/fake profiles. The concept is unique but there aren’t too many people on it. Based on the date of the latest update, it looks like the developer gave up on this app. ### 2/5 — Explore tab won’t load *2022-12-26, version 2.2.6* I’ve just downloaded the app today, set everythin up, but for some reason the profiles on the explore tab won’t load at all. I’ll sit on that single tab for hours but nothin will load. On Wi-Fi and data. I’ve even turned on global mode to see if it would do anything but with no luck. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2022-07-07, version 2.2.4* I go to explore it don’t work. Just keeps loading with the heart over and over. I live in ny so I’m sure there’s single people out here . But so far hasn’t worked for me and I hope they fix it! ### 3/5 — Potential *2022-06-18, version 2.2.3* App has great potential. Hearing them speak before seeing their photo is cool but there’s only like 1-2 seconds which kind defeats the purpose. Let the audio complete then show the photo. Obviously it’s new so there’s not a lot of people on there so small knock for that but the app is buggy it tells me every day I have new people to view though it shows me the same 1 person every day. Cheers! - Ennie ### 1/5 — All of the profiles are fake *2022-06-16, version 2.2.3* All of the profiles are fake and run by the company. They have the same voice prompts and generally speaking the photos are of fairly well know fashion models. Apple will likely shut this down soon ### 1/5 — Fake profiles *2022-06-06, version 2.2.2* Most, if not all the profiles seem to be fake. There were two profiles with the same voice but different names. Then there were two profiles with the exact same audio clip. I can 100% tell that the audio doesn’t belong to the latter 2 profiles. The idea is kind of interesting but the app just doesn’t have enough users. I would like to suggest that users are able to send video messages and video clips instead of audio so everything can be verified. ### 1/5 — Nobody is on here *2022-06-05, version 2.2.2* I really like the idea behind this app but dang it nobody local is on this app. For me, every group of people they gave me was out of state and I’m not in some small town. It’s so frustrating. ### 3/5 — Potential but no users *2022-06-01, version 2.2.2* This has good potential but so far no users within 100 miles of me. ### 2/5 — Can’t get logged in anymore *2022-05-29, version 2.2.2* App worked for several weeks but I can longer login. Just tells me to check my number. ### 3/5 — Buggy *2022-04-13, version 2.1.8* The app is very buggy. I have used it less than a week and for the past 24 hours I have not been able to listen to messages that were sent to me. The play button when I click on it just keeps spinning in a circle up to five minutes before it stops. The other complaint and yes I know the app is new but there are just about no women that are using the app in my area. There was I think two women that were within 50 miles the first day and nobody else in my state for the past few days. I am in Wisconsin and I’m talking with someone from California and from Oregon because there aren’t that many people using the app yet. It’s fun to make friends across the country but the real big complaint is the app is buggy with the voice messaging which is supposed to be the highlight of this app. I will be giving it time but hopefully they work on that bug very quickly. Otherwise the app seems pretty easy to use and is pretty straightforward. Also, height is important, but no filter for that. ### 2/5 — Love the concept, but… *2022-04-02, version 2.1.7* As someone who’s spent YEARS on dating apps I really love the concept of using audio to primarily match with people BUT there aren’t nearly enough people using this. I’ve got zero matches to even choose from and it’s pushing me to go global and I don’t want to. I payed for the premium and feel ripped off after messaging the devs without a single response. ### 1/5 — Waste of time and money *2022-04-01, version 2.1.6* Maybe this app needs time to grow and get more people on it, but I’m so sick and tired of seeing the same exact 12-15 profiles from God-knows-where-ville, even upon expanding to “global mode.” Not going through this nonsense again. ### 2/5 — Unable to update my profile?? *2022-03-28, version 2.1.6* Not sure what’s going on it’s not asking for money so I’m assuming it’s a free app ? Ether way I should be able to upload my bio so I don’t look like a bot. ### 3/5 — Needs more users nearby *2022-03-28, version 2.1.6* So I first heard of this app through a TikTok video but found out you have to sign up and be on a “waiting list” which seemed kinda odd but I went ahead and did it. I’d say a least a month if not longer I received a text message telling me the wait was over and I could download which honestly I totally forgot about it. The concept of this app is good with the audio. However there simply is either not enough users in my area or it just doesn’t know how to match. I’m located in north central Pennsylvania and all of my suggested matches are nowhere near me. They are all from out of state. I have my settings for 50 miles from my location but I haven’t once even seen a user that is in PA. So my thoughts are they really don’t have enough users since you have to be on this waiting list. This app is not being marketed enough / advertised. Now I get it they don’t want everyone to jump in and then you have to worry about some users all they want is a hookup or having fake profiles. This is where you really need to screen users and have them know this is not a hookup site like tinder this is for people who are serious about finding a relationship. Where I’m located I think the population is around 30K obviously not like LA or NYC so please get more users in my area and then I will think this app with have more potential. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Useless *2023-01-30, version 2.2.6* Don’t waste your time! I downloaded the app. I waited a week for my profile to be verified. I also waited a week for any type of profiles to be displayed. Once it became apparent that the app either didn’t work, and/or there was nobody there to follow through with the verification and customer support, I deleted it. ### 1/5 — Nah was good at first *2023-01-18, version 2.2.6* It was good at first heard about it on tiktok. But no one was one near me left and came back and just left again. All the likes i had were bots!!! Good idea and concept but poor advertising when it first came out. Full of bots and the explore tab wont load. ### 1/5 — Not one single user. *2022-10-31, version 2.2.6* Even after expanding everything to the max and turning global on and changing everything to the ridiculous amounts basically for everybody. Not 1 user. Made a complete profile and can’t find any results. I must be the only user on the app. Ghost town app. ### 1/5 — Nobody available *2022-09-24, version 2.2.6* Doesn’t show any people even with global on ### 1/5 — It’s worse than Tinder *2022-09-16, version 2.2.6* I don’t get likes or matches on any dating apps but I expect that. This app I get likes all the time from scammers and bots. Thought this was supposed be better. It doesn’t even show people near me it’s all Califoria, New York and New Jersey. Maybe Miami. It’s a joke. More of a waste of time than tinder or bumble. Not sure why I expected more, I should have known better. This is trash that needs to be set on fire. ### 1/5 — Can’t Even Finish Setting Up *2022-09-09, version 2.2.6* This app is sooo glitchy. I have set up my profile (pictures, preferences, etc) multiple times and each time I think I’m finished it wipes it all and starts me back over at the picture selection page. Not going to keep trying, deleted. ### 1/5 — Can’t register myself! *2022-07-24, version 2.2.4* I downloaded this app very recently and as soon as typed my number in and pressed “register”, the app told me my number was wrong. I even uninstalled and reinstalled twice and still no luck. ### 1/5 — Need to work on the app quick to fix bugs *2022-07-17, version 2.2.4* Premium gets zero local profiles after first group and after a switch to global, resulted in never being able to switch back to local and now Stuck with only out of state profiles. Not coming back until you get some better reviews on here. ### 1/5 — Refuses to update *2022-07-14, version 2.2.4* It shows only 2 profiles and doesn’t refresh or show me anyone other than 2 people that’s been on there for almost a week ### 1/5 — I’ve never felt so heated to write a review before *2022-07-07, version 2.2.4* The Matter team has been unresponsive to the concerns I’ve had about the app and there are a LOT : First, I purchased premium so that I could view more profiles. After I purchased, the app crashed. After re-downloading it twice I started receiving messages from men wayyyy out of the age range I set in my preferences and from across the country even though I set my distance preference as 50 miles from me at most. I thought the concept was fun and really wanted to try a “happy hour” but there was no notification or information for when those happen. I’ve also been stuck on the same three profiles for a day now because the “countdown” to the next round of profiles keeps resetting to 12 hours. I think I had some bug on the app 2 weeks ago when I downloaded it, now it’s working great! I love audio dating! I wasn't sure why audio dating would work better than most traditional profile picture swiping methods, but after trying their Happy Hour, I was convinced that audio dating is much more comfortable and genuine. Some songs didn't have a play button, not sure why. I am an old school millenial, and this app reminds me of MySpace where each profile looked very different. I am a big time nerd, so it would be great if I can add my favorite books and podcast. Definitely a great conversation starter! ### 5/5 — Very different audio experience in dating *2022-04-03, version 2.1.7* I dig the profiles with voice intros and love how pictures i blur as I listen people speak. It’s like opening presents. Hinge has similar feature but I rarely see voice prompts there. Adding my own voice intro was a lot less intimidating than I anticipated. Prompts and examples definitely help. i can add multiple answers to prompts with my voice. I see a lot of out of state people and hope this will be resolved soon. Going on 3-min blind audio dates truly changes how dating apps should work. As someone who does not take pictures a lot, the vanity of other apps were getting to me as I knew my pictures were sub par, yet my personality is superb. It was only after using Matter that I gained the proper platform to thrive. As the app is based on the principles of meeting people you are like minded with I can truly say that I feel more represented! Being able to find people based on similar interest, as well as conversation that follow from such interests, allow me to thrive. I currently am seeing a girl I met on here and its going great.
