And the people that work at my location on Maiden Lane are the best! But the app won’t let me use Apple or any stores cards and I keep having to re-add my payment method in. There should be any amount allowed.. There should also be a QR code or something that allows you to scan in store to use whatever is left on your matto account as well if you don’t want to reload. ### 1/5 — Horrible “ owner” rude / belligerent and gave us the middle finger !! *2024-11-23* The 351 3rd ave store -avoid at all costs .The so called “ owner “ female “ was rude and abusive to my Mrs Had no patience . Refused to help her add money to her account. Told my wife to get out of store . Witness saw all this and she couldn’t believe how rude she was We will not be going to Matto ever again Gave us the middle finger and this is an owner of Matto - great mascot for Matto - give everyone the middle finger and tell them to get out !!!!! I guess they forgot the universal business rule “ The customer is always right !” ### 1/5 — Bad coffee *2024-11-10, version 4.22* Espresso drinks all seam to be missing one thing- espresso. They are so weak they taste like mud (and milk or syrup, of course). It places orders without any confirmation and also sends orders to the incorrect locations. Suggestion, make an extra prompt to confirm location and exact order before letting it go through. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Deceptive advertising *2026-06-10* Signs draw you into shop by inexpensive coffee offer is ordered on app. After downloading app and adding item to cart, when you try to pay the app prompts you to add a minimum $10 gift card to your account on the app. There is no way to bypass. They are trying to trick you into buying a $10 gift card you didn’t want. I abandoned the app and paid the old fashioned way for my coffee (80 cents more than the advertised “discount” price). While the coffee was good, the deceptive advertising left a bad taste in my mouth so will avoid this chain in the future. ### 1/5 — Bad Atritude *2026-05-06* There’s a particular tall white male at the 3495 Broadway location who on my first visit, returned silence to my good morning and then returned silence to my Thank you. Luckily my experience was great the next time with an African American woman. On another visit I requested that the egg for my sandwich be warmed well (as it had not been on a previous visit) and I again received silence, rolled eyes and a turned back from the same man. I had to cancel my order because I think it’s safe to say we need to be able to trust anyone preparing food for us. ### 1/5 — Refill? What a scam practice *2026-04-03* This practice is just a scam. Eventually you won’t have enough funds or have too little buy anything and that money will belong to them. It adds up from every single user. Ended up not using their stupid scam feature and probably won’t ever go to their shop again. $3 for everything but make sure to read their fine prints and scam practices. ### 1/5 — Worst app *2026-03-05, version 4.46* You have to re- input everything a dozen timeson a "reorder"! You also have to override the stupid suggested location 13 times! Developer should download Starbucks and Dunkin' apps and learn how a barista app should work! ### 1/5 — Stinks *2026-01-28, version 4.45* Poor service, NO customer service ### 1/5 — Overly complicated for basic ordering *2025-12-03, version 4.45* Hard to place a basic reorder. And instead of offering a partial payment just force a reload of the wallet. This not great ### 1/5 — SCAM *2025-07-23, version 4.36* Do not add money to this app. It is a scam. They will take your money and they won’t refund it. They charged me in error and even though I was told it would be refunded in 2-3 days, it has now been over a month. I have been in multiple times and they keep telling me it will be refunded in 2-3 days.
