### 2/5 — Nice recipes, but app is hard to use

*2024-08-19*

Does anyone read the reviews and consider making improvements???

The recipes are generally good, but the app is difficult to actually use. For example, if I want to cook two (or more) of the recipes at the same time, I can’t pin them or group them into a meal and toggle back and forth between them. I have to rely on the cumbersome search function over and over!

### 2/5 — Excellent recipes but needs a lot more wotk

*2022-11-13, version 3.0.5*

The recipes are excellent, but would benefit from some proof-reading. The app’s functionality leaves a great deal to be desired. I hoped when a new version was released recently the shortcomings might be addressed but no. The ability to create menus, add recipes to a calendar, create shopping lists and make recipe sharing more straightforward are vital in an app in 2022

### 2/5 — Search function nonfunctional

*2022-09-24*

The recipes themselves are amazing. The app
Is infuriating. You can only seem to search by checking off boxes for ingredients or looking in a broad category like Vegetarian. This is a good feature but it would be nice to literally search for the recipe name for something you see on Instagram instead of paging through, hoping to finding a recipe in a category. I almost never can find the recipe I saw. Not worth paying for. Use the website for free. It’s not designed differently but at least it’s free. (Also not a fan of having recipes that are .99 within the app when you already paid for this app. Seems like a money grab.)

### 2/5 — Poor app!

*2022-07-30, version 2.1.1*

Great recipes but poor app experience. Basic functions are missing and some of what is there doesn’t behave as it should. The save function doesn’t work if there is a share button by it’s side. Very frustrating. No search facility either.

### 2/5 — Too frustrating to use

*2022-07-30*

The recipes are great but honestly the app is so clunky and non-intuitive to use that I don't want to open. There is no logical search function and the save button doesn't work on many of the recipes. I wish the app would get upgraded, I'd definitely recommend the purchase to others but right now honestly cannot justify the cost with how hard it is to use.

### 2/5 — Great recipes, rubbish app

*2022-04-28, version 2.1.1*

Seriously basic app. It’s little more than a list of recipes. Why on earth isn’t there a favourite function? Definitely not worth the money.

### 2/5 — Recipes are great, app is TERRIBLE

*2021-11-10, version 2.1.1*

I use the app frequently for the recipes but I cannot stand the app. No favourites function, no search function, poor scrolling interface. Considering we paid for the app, this is has awful user experience and I really hope there is some work being done to fix this.

Also, my partner and I have the Apple family sharing but can’t download the app on two devices? Why is that?

### 2/5 — The app needs a search function

*2021-10-09, version 2.1.1*

This app is very hard to use as you cannot do a simple search. Instead you have to search by ingredient or by category. It is very hard to find a recipe from Maunika’s insta page in the app, especially if you are not familiar with the Indian name for recipes without a general search function.

### 2/5 — Great recipes, poor app

*2021-06-03, version 2.0.1*

Oh for a simple search function. Great recipes but frustratingly hard to find. Easily solved if you could simply search for recipe by name rather than ingredients.

### 4/5 — Great app but stopped scrolling on iPhone

*2021-05-30, version 2.0.0*

Have been using this app for ages and love the recipes but recently it has stopped scrolling on the iPhone and is therefore now unusable. Have deleted it and reinstalled it but that hasn’t worked. My husband has paid for it on his iPhone and same issue for him. How do we fix this?

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work since update

*2021-05-29, version 2.0.0*

App won’t respond to scroll since the update.
Unusable, which is unacceptable for a paid app.

### 1/5 — Like a recipe book with the pages glued together

*2021-05-26, version 2.0.0*

Apps does not work, don’t bother

### 1/5 — Can’t scroll through menus and recipes

*2021-05-26, version 2.0.0*

Can’t scroll through a presented recipe or menu. Interface is terrible. I am queued to purchase recipes for 99 cents.

### 2/5 — Wonderful recipes on a terrible app

*2021-05-25, version 2.0.0*

Great recipes on a dysfunctional platform. Paid £4 for an app that does not even scroll. Would happily pay for the recipes just not on this app. Fix your bugs please, we just want to cook delicious food!

### 2/5 — Love recipes, terrible app

*2021-05-23, version 2.0.0*

This isn’t a review on Maunika’s recipes as I absolutely love them. The app though is really bad, we can’t search recipes by name, today, and for some reason, no recipe scrolls down at all, and I wanted to cook a meal from the app. Particularly annoying because it’s a paid app. I am sure it can be improved.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Good food on bad and money hungry app

*2022-10-08, version 2.1.1*

Really really like recipes but can’t agree with the app.

For starter - nearly half of the recipes are “App Exclusive” meaning they are there but you can’t see them and to see them you need to pay bit extra. I mean why this predatory?

Also if you liked some recipes, there is a save button to come back later but it’s impossible to confirm if you placed that button correctly or not. Else, like me scroll through entire app to find yours.

And there is her website and most recipes are there FREE. Again why and with what logic?

### 1/5 — Clunky, dial up vibes

*2021-07-03, version 2.1.0*

Some of the recipes I’ve tried are good BUT so many issues with this app… haven’t experienced anything like it. It’s not user friendly, literally waiting for a page to load, the recipe saving function works sporadically and it freezes. Needs investment and a serious upgrade. I have a number of food apps and this is the worst hands now. In need of an upgrade ASAP.

### 1/5 — Lots of recipes cost extra

*2021-06-30, version 2.1.0*

Disappointed to find out that many recipes aren’t included in the £3.99 initial cost and that they are an extra 0.79p each.

### 1/5 — Rip off

*2021-06-19, version 2.1.0*

Brought that app for £3.99 only to discover you have to pay for most recipes??? And additional 79p - total scam

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2021-06-13, version 2.0.1*

Paying for an app to have to pay for app exclusive recipes is very disappointing! The free app recipes are available on the authors website.

### 1/5 — The scroll in the app does not work

*2021-06-01, version 2.0.0*

The scroll in the app does not work and hence makes it unusable.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2021-05-31*

Not able to load recipes past the first page- scrolling isn’t possible

Would love to use the recipes that I do have access too but can’t scroll down to see it!

Disappointed

### 1/5 — Can’t Scroll Down

*2021-05-30*

I just downloaded the app and all day I’ve been trying to scroll down but can not, and it’s frustrating me because I paid 3.99 for this app and I’ve deleted it and redownloaded it but same problem, is this normal? Please advise someone!

### 1/5 — Refund or fix it.

*2021-05-29*

This app does not work. Please fix it so that I can scroll through the recipes. Very disappointing. I might change my rating when I can access everything it has to offer ! ?

**Developer response:** The issue with scrolling came up with the new Apple update. If you update your phone to the latest software update then the app will refresh and should work fine.

### 1/5 — Frustrating and waste of money

*2021-05-29, version 2.0.0*

As others have mentioned - saved recipes disappear and now I can’t scroll at all on the app so it’s useless! Shame because I love her recipes but developers clearly don’t care.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Easy search function

*2022-11-23, version 3.0.5*

Loving the refresh, especially the search function which is so much easier to use.

### 5/5 — Maunika Gowardhan Indian Cookery

*2022-10-23, version 3.0*

I have had this app since it first came out and I love it!! Easy to follow recipes. I don’t understand the problem when a new recipe is added to pay for it. You just don’t pay if you don’t want the recipe. I also have Maunika’s books which are also excellent.

### 5/5 — Pretty good

*2022-07-25, version 2.1.1*

I was a bit nervous about purchasing with all the negative reviews - but for £3.49 I think it is excellent value. Recipes are a change from my usual Madhur Jeffrey / Anjum Anand / net searches and so far all have had good feedback from family. Very clear instructions with no unobtainable ingredients!
Haven’t had any issues with app so far, just wish I could bookmark but haven’t really tried to see if there’s a facility for that.

### 5/5 — Excellent guide to Indian cooking!

*2021-06-07, version 2.0.1*

Before I got this app I couldn’t seem to cook Indian food that had any depth of flavour and thankfully that has changed. The recipes are clear and easy to follow and I will make the Paneer Butter Masala until the day I die. 5 ⭐️

### 5/5 — Works perfectly well!

*2021-05-30, version 2.0.0*

Like others, I had issues scrolling down but this was simply resolved after updating for the new iOS, upon the suggestion of Maunika’s responsive support team.

Thank you! Great recipes as per usual!

### 5/5 — So many delicious recipes!

*2020-12-02*

The photos are beautiful, the instructions are easy to follow and the results are amazing! I love scrolling through the categories and getting inspired by all of the different options.
I agree that a text search functionality would be helpful, but it is fairly easy to search when narrowing by ingredients or category.
Thank you so much for sharing your recipes! Easily worth the $3.99! :)

### 5/5 — Amazing food

*2019-12-25, version 1.5.1*

I’m married to an Indian born food lover. All recipes I’ve cooked so far have been his favourites things I’ve cooked. Favourites are the butter chicken and the spicy lamb Pulao.
Love love love these recipes

### 5/5 — Recipes

*2019-09-30, version 1.5.1*

I have tried several of the recipes on this app and they have all turned out to be amazingly delicious. Absolutely love this app. It is my favourite digital space to get Indian food ideas and inspiration for great taste and flavours for a committed spice junkie. Many thanks x

### 5/5 — Three winners in a row

*2019-08-03, version 1.5.1*

I’ve made three recipes from this app over three weekends and each has been a winner with everyone. These really are great recipes that work! Recommended.

### 5/5 — Maunika rocks!!

*2019-07-11*

I have gifted Maunika’s cookbook to a lot of my friends. The app is awesome too.

For the reviewer who gave 3 stars just because the measurements are in the metric system, simply use Google for conversion. How difficult is that!!!🙄
