I visited a questionable web site and a persistent pop-up launched which I could not remove. Even closing down the iPad and restarting, the same pop-up started, warning me that I had 23 viruses on my iPad and saying I must click on a button with Chinese characters to fix the problem. Needless to say I didn’t. I simply closed the app and then uninstalled it. The only thing that syncs is the max notes and on laptop that’s fine I could double tap and open well not on mobile you from what I have tried the only thing that works is copying the link from max notes and paste them in the browser the user interface is terrible and frustrating for that reason. I’ve been a loyal user since 2016 but I think it’s time to transfer files and move on 🤦🏽‍♂️ ### 1/5 — Want my profile to save bookmarks? *2021-07-09, version 6.0.2* Maxthon 5 worked fine. It was a small, no-fuss browser that’s just works. Until version 6, where they removed the capability to store and re-use bookmarks. Now when you bookmark, you are storing the web-content, and to browse to the bookmarked URL, you will have to become a “member”. This completely defeated the purpose of using this supposedly minimum/anonymous browser. Please, there are many other browsers that do not demand my personal info just to store a local bookmark. I'm impressed with Maxthon's user interface and quick performance. It has the ability to become the device default browser if you want it to, but it also makes a great complement to another default browser, for when you want efficiency and control. They are upfront about not collecting user data **at all** which already makes them stand out amongst the other flavored browsers that can only hide behind gimmicky privacy features. 2. Even more remarkable is that the browser loads surprisingly quick. It's definity on par with Edge, Brave, Safari or Chromium if not significantly faster. These two main points alone I think the browser deserves to be recommended. ### 5/5 — Managed to fix it not rotating with the system defaults. *2022-12-05, version 6.1.2* Managed to fix it not rotating with the system defaults. Here is the workaround I found. First tell it to force landscape. Then tell it to force Portrait. Then tell it to follow system defaults. All of a sudden it’s working again.
