Mayyan is a search engine that aims to transform every search into social impact by investing 30% of its revenue into NGOs that tackle sustainable development goals in Africa.


How does it work?

Like other search engines, Mayyan earns money from search ads. Then we use 30% of the revenue to invest in carefully selected associations to carry out projects on the African continent. For example, building a borehole in one of the 54 countries in Africa, or providing all the necessary elements to farmers to produce more food, or selling their crops, but also the possibility of providing electricity to a school, a village or a hospital.

### 1/5 — Not safe for children

I’ve had screen time on for my child as a way to protect them from bad online content, I had this app as a default for him due to it making a change. However, this app doesn’t censor google like many of the other search engine apps out there. Even while screen time settings are enabled I found out that you can still search unwanted things on here. Please fix this, it’s not a bad app but it needs a fix immediately in order to be used by younger users. My screen time settings are set to +12 which usually blocks out any search engine except for safari for this exact reason. Maybe changing the age group for the app will help the issue. Regardless I feel this is an important issue.

I never leave reviews, but this one I was excited to do because HOW AMAZING IS IT TO MAKE IMPACT by just using this search engine. Love the images, love how user friendly is, and it just looks like a lot of thought went into building this and I’m so grateful for it. Can’t wait for what’s to come! 🦒
