### 2/5 — Convoluted

*2026-08-05, version 7.9.6*

Why is this app so bad, while MBTA Go is so user-friendly and useful? Why can't they fold in the purchasing capability to the go app?

### 4/5 — Overall rating of this app

*2026-05-14, version 7.9.4*

4/5. Good because there’s a report section where people can report stuff happening at stations and they could even call transit police. What I don’t like is how it only works for the commuter rail.

### 3/5 — Okay, needs work

*2026-03-24, version 7.9.0*

Okay, needs work

### 4/5 — great but…

*2026-01-05, version 7.9.0*

its a great app and pretty reliable but i wish i wasnt always dependent on it. like the only way to get home in norfolk is to use the commuter, but this app is the only way to get there inbound. sure once im in south station i can get a physical ticket (sometimes) but you cant do that in norfolk. this is not an app issue at all this is really just a letter to the mbta please make norfolk station more than a slab of concrete🙏😭

also $20 for a roundtrip is insane lower these prices inflation wild enough

### 2/5 — Does the job

*2025-11-25, version 7.9.0*

… but there’s no way to navigate between tickets, schedules and ticket history without restarting the whole app. The UX leaves much to be desired.

### 2/5 — Activated ticket does not show activated on Home Screen

*2025-10-28*

Although I understand the recent app update was designed to improve screen reader capabilities, an activated ticket now no longer appears activated on the Home Screen, even though it is active when you go into your ticket wallet. The only feature that distinguishes an activated ticket is the green text “ACTIVE” which isn’t showing on the Home Screen. The new app update removed the green bar at the top of an activated ticket, which was a beneficial feature. I use Daily Flex Pass tickets for 4 different train trips each day so the active ticket should be more obvious on the Home Screen and more universally accessible to all types of users, in my opinion. TY

### 3/5 — Need to add South Coast Rail

*2025-06-18, version 7.8.31*

It is fine for ferries and in the core, but by now they should have added South Shore stations like Fall River.

### 2/5 — UI issue

*2025-06-06, version 7.8.31*

There’s no way to go back to the ticket purchasing menu if you open the schedules, making you fully close the app. A back button would be helpful

### 3/5 — Does it work? Yes Do I like it? No

*2024-12-02, version 7.8.24*

It is functional. Hooray. Now how about making this into an easy to use app? It’s (almost) 2025. After this many years, where is the support for Apple wallet, passkeys, etc.? How about actually usable schedules? Not just a browser window to MBTA.com. Or how about just fixing the long standing bug which makes navigation arrows disappear after the app sleeps requiring you to manually kill and restart the app?

### 4/5 — Love it - but would suggest one change

*2024-11-22, version 7.8.24*

Sometimes, after leaving your phone on the ticket wallet for a period of time, there is no back button and you have to close the app and reopen it to get back to the main screen.

### 1/5 — Not working, lost my ticket I previously purchased.

*2024-11-12, version 7.8.24*

Can’t seem to login even using the Forgot password. I can recover my previously purchased ticket that was not expired. Had to create a new account with new email.

### 1/5 — App Doesnt function at all

*2024-10-01, version 7.8.23*

How many reviews like this do you guys need until you fix these issues. Apple pay and inputting card information does not work at all. The app is literally useless if it cant do what it is designed to do

### 2/5 — Card on mobile wallet

*2024-09-06, version 7.8.23*

We would like to put our card on our phones. Work on that please

### 1/5 — Unable to buy tickets

*2024-08-18, version 7.8.19*

Every card I have and apple pay dont work on this app, when they work everywhere else. So the app is useless for me

### 1/5 — Lousy app! Bad service

*2024-07-31, version 7.8.19*

I just can’t believe they are charging you extra $3 if you purchase the ticket on the train. This is plain and simple rotten! It’s an insult to pay for this service, it’s very disorganized, the led banners aren’t updated, it’s always late. The parking lots have no shade. Someone cars have no ac and I can’t go on and on.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — no return policy

*2026-06-29, version 7.9.4*

have fun with my 80 bucks mticket, why don’t you eat my hog while you’re at it

### 1/5 — FIFA Train Fail

*2026-04-09, version 7.9.4*

I can’t purchase tickets using this app. Getting an error code SDJ_105 Please FIX

### 1/5 — Ne marche pas 🚫

*2026-04-08*

On nous demande de télécharger cette app pour les billets de train à Boston lors de la coupe du monde. Déjà que vous quadruplez les prix (80$ au lieu de 20$ aller retour), vous n’êtes même pas capable de faire fonctionner correctement votre application !!

### 1/5 — trash

*2026-03-30, version 7.9.0*

mbta blows!

### 1/5 — Glitchy at best

*2025-10-29, version 7.9.0*

App is glitchy at best frequently does not load buttons so if you are looking at the schedule you can go back to your ticket when the conductor comes by without crashing the app and reloading it.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-09-23, version 7.9.0*

The providence line is becoming unusable. Full of delays or the train not eve running, and I still need to pay full price for a ticket? Ridiculous

### 1/5 — Buyer beware - this is not for the subway system

*2025-05-19, version 7.8.31*

Although this is called ‘MBTA’, this is only for Boston’s commuter rail system - not the subway system. No refunds, sadly.

### 1/5 — Bug

*2025-04-20, version 7.8.31*

The “back” feature often disappears requiring you to close out of the app and reopen. Really annoying.

### 1/5 — “Unable to Connect to Internet”

*2025-03-03, version 7.8.24*

No matter what I do (delete and redownload the app, turn my phone on and off, connect to WiFi, disconnect from WiFi, update my phone, etc.) I am still unable to buy tickets. It always says “unable to connect to internet”. This has been going on for weeks. Very inconvenient.

### 1/5 — Piece of shart

*2024-11-14, version 7.8.24*

Half of the time it doesn’t work and freezes when the train is coming. Always have to input CC info 2-5 times for a transaction to process.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Easy ticket purchase

*2026-04-07, version 7.9.4*

Most of these reviews are ancient and a lot complain about the train being on time. But this app does what it’s supposed to do. You can find any train line and its schedule easily and buy your tickets.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-12-02, version 7.9.0*

Great app helps me get a ticket when I need one

### 5/5 — Great

*2025-09-10, version 7.8.35*

app always works except in deep back bay tunnel, it's legit

### 5/5 — Works for now.

*2024-08-09*

I never really had any problems or issues with it. Something the MBTA did that worked or works is something to build off of not shut down.
Lot of things in life have don’t work well or properly, but that doesn’t mean it’s worthless and a failure entirely.
To the right buyer you matter. Something entitled kids just can’t understand.

### 5/5 — So far, the app is working great

*2024-08-02, version 7.8.19*

It is good enough as an app for travelers. Not sure why so many bad reviews

### 5/5 — Works as needed

*2024-05-29*

I’m not sure what the complaining is about, this app allows me to buy my tickets when I need them so it’s fine by me. The UI isn’t great but you get used to it. It even allows you to pay with Apple Pay so that you can avoid adding your credit card info, which is a huge plus in my book.

If you want to feel better about the mTicket app you need only check out some competitors, such as the one for bus/train tickets in Miami. Good lord.

### 5/5 — Make sure to create an account

*2023-07-21*

Customer service was so helpful and proactive as a new T user. Helped my plan out my commute and train times to make sure I didn’t mess anything up. Really knowledgeable. They said to make sure to create an account because there are much less “hiccups” and it’s easier for them to help you if you have an account

### 5/5 — Great customer service

*2023-03-02, version 6.13.90*

Got an apple pay error, so I kept pressing the button like an idiot. Charged me 3 times. However, I called the help number on the app and the person was very efficient and courteous. Got the extra 2 tix refunded within 5 minutes. Amazing service!

### 5/5 — Intuitive and easy to use

*2022-10-21, version 6.13.90*

Got to the gate, saw there was an app. Downloaded and bought a ticket faster than the lines used to be at north station. Showed the lady my ticket with having even make eye contact. Perfect for antisocial people like me

### 5/5 — Clean and Simple - Easy to Use

*2022-10-10*

I’m not sure why so many people are having a hard time with this app. It’s simple and easy to use, just choose departure station and arrival station and what pass you want. The payment method is easy and it saves your payment info for next pass purchase. Would recommend.
