### 1/5 — Garbage

*2020-06-18, version 3.02.00*

Does not work

### 1/5 — You’ve been scammed by Arris and Macafee

*2020-05-24, version 3.02.00*

Despite numerous complaints Arris and Macafee have still not fixed the Spp and continue to their false advertising.

### 1/5 — Can’t find the Arris modem/ router

*2020-05-16, version 3.02.00*

After installing the Arris modem / router combo and installing Surfboard Manager, I got to the recommended last step....Mcafee. And the app can’t find the router. A note in the App Store description says supports IOS 11. I’m on IOS 13. What a hassle. C’mon developers.....

Updating this review. Tried it again, and the app was able to find the router and my network devices. I successfully completed the app installation but the app doesn’t do anything. It’s just wants to tell you that the network isn’t secure and you need to install Mcafee software......and eventually bill you for It. Ugh. I deleted the app.

### 1/5 — Horrible.

*2020-04-20, version 3.02.00*

My brand new Arris has McAfee on the front saying it for Secure Home but when it looks for a Secure Home router it doesn’t find it. The modem/router is up and running, but not McAfee!!

### 1/5 — Crappy app

*2020-04-10, version 3.02.00*

This used to work great when I bought my router but after the app was updated it is not able to connect to the router.

### 1/5 — Very confusing app

*2020-04-05, version 3.02.00*

After I bought Artis surfboard I downloaded mcfee secure home internet app through arris app for purpose of using parental controls, after download I enter user name and password it’s not let me sign in instead I get this massage you did’t have internet access while arris app is working with my internet, very complicated up.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2020-04-03, version 3.02.00*

Firmware from Arris upgraded my router so I can’t use built in parental controls. They display a recommendation to use Mcafee Secure Home Internet which doesn’t work. The issue is, Arris said they ‘recommend’ which leaves you to believe you have an option, which you don’t. Parental controls is greyed out. It is a huge waste of time.

### 1/5 — Can’t connect

*2020-03-31, version 3.02.00*

This is not working at all

### 1/5 — Can’t even get it setup

*2020-03-30, version 3.02.00*

This product might be good. IF it could actually work properly.

Connected to the router via phone (it’s how I’m submitting this review), yet surprisingly, app refuses to find the router. Gets to that point in setup and claims it cannot find the router

Worthless pile of garbage

### 1/5 — McAfee Home Secure Internet

*2020-03-28, version 3.02.00*

When I purchased my new router to avoid having to rent the costly Comcast version I was pleased. This didn’t last to long as I started having problems with McAfee. This list of who or what is on WIFI stopped updating no matter what I do. It’s as if it is not longer talking to my router. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times without resolving this issue. This app is garbage. I give it the lowest rating possible.

### 1/5 — Pointless

*2020-03-24, version 3.02.00*

What is the point of advertising secure home internet if you can’t get the app to work. False advertising waste of time. Would not have purchased if I knew this ahead of time.

### 1/5 — DOES NOT WORK

*2020-03-14, version 3.02.00*

The idea of having an App to control the router... is to actually control the router.
Even I can make an App that takes forever to load, looks OK ad has switches that do absolutely nothing.

I mean does NOTHING.
I can try blocking access from the Device menu... NOTHING, device is connected.
I can try using the COPPA Parental Controls and just like talking to kids... It does NOTHING. It still acts like I just did tell it do something.

The app is trash.
Fix your crap app.

### 1/5 — I am ready to return my Arris because this app is so bad

*2020-03-13, version 3.02.00*

I can even connect the app to the router to begin setting up parental controls. This is nothing short of the worst app I have tried in a long time. I really am thinking of returning the router to get a Netgear because there is no other way than this horrid app to set up parental controls.

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work

*2020-03-12, version 3.02.00*

App can not detect the modem. It fails at its basic task.

### 1/5 — It is trash!

*2020-03-10, version 3.02.00*

I don’t think there could be any more basic. Has worked properly ever. Works intermittently at best. For arris to market this in the router is a scam.

### 1/5 — I wasted my money!

*2020-03-09, version 3.02.00*

I got this modem solely for the parental controls. I have not been able to set controls because the app never works. I will be returning this garbage modem and telling everyone I know what a piece of junk it is!

### 1/5 — Getting increasingly worse

*2020-03-06, version 3.02.00*

This use to work fairly well. Recently though every time I try to use the app it either never loads or it can’t find my info. Pretty useless. The whole reason I bought this was to schedule internet usage for my teen.

### 1/5 — Very slow

*2020-03-05, version 3.02.00*

It is a very good program, but it is too slow, someone can help with this.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2020-02-27, version 3.02.00*

This app crashes harder the the twin towers

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — WORTHLESS

*2022-11-20, version 3.02.00*

Impossible to set up. Cant find router it says when setting right next to it. Lowest rated protection on the market. Better off without it

### 1/5 — Cannot find router

*2021-12-29, version 3.02.00*

The app cannot find my router, period. Stupid worthless app

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work with Arris Modem (model NVG468MQ)

*2021-12-15, version 3.02.00*

Will not connect to my modem. Was following an Arris modem video published by Arris. It suggested using the app by this name.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2021-08-09, version 3.02.00*

This app doesn't work anymore and hasnt been updated/bug fixes in over a year. Initially I cpuld log in and manage devices, parental controls, etc. All of a sudden I can't log in to see or manage devices, even after several resets of the modem/ router. This app does not work!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2021-06-18, version 3.02.00*

The app doesn’t even work. They quit updating the app as OS upgrades occurred. I have a router advertising this app, but I can’t even connect to set up parental controls…

### 1/5 — Totally worthless - ZERO stars is too many!

*2021-02-27, version 3.02.00*

This app is TERRIBLE. It must have been written by monkeys. It doesn’t provide any meaningful options. For example, I cannot block specific URLs, only broad categories (which it doesn’t always classify correctly). It asks me to identify devices, but doesn’t provide MAC addresses, so identifying the devices is virtually impossible. It also seems to “remember” each devices IP address, which leads to numerous duplicate devices. Right now it thinks there are 158 devices on my network, with about 20 identified only as “Computer”. Seriously? This app is pathetic.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2021-02-20, version 3.02.00*

Doesn’t keep track of device after you hunt them down and rename them...doesn’t name them by the device nor tell you their MAC address so you have to use other methods of figuring out which iPad or iPhone you are seeing. I hate the router too...forcing me to use this app and locking me out of the parental controls obviously installed on the router but greyed out permanently. Don’t buy Arris and don’t get this app....useless

### 1/5 — Annoying app

*2021-02-15, version 3.02.00*

Does not allow more than two devices to connect to the router pls let at least 2
Connect

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2020-08-05, version 3.02.00*

Now safari won’t work. Can only assume it’s due to this app. Even tried deleting and no good.

### 1/5 — Not Useful

*2020-07-01, version 3.02.00*

This doesn’t do anything for me that the Arris App doesn’t do. Parental Controls may work j suppose, but I don’t need them.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very good security idea on router

*2018-01-04, version 3.01.01*

Love it so far...good job McAfee and Arris

### 3/5 — Works for me, but....

*2019-04-24, version 3.02.00*

I have been using the app for a while and the parental controls do appear to be working correctly. Since the update, the app constantly logs me out of my account and makes me re-login. Sometimes when this occurs, I am not near my home network and this becomes a problem.

### 3/5 — I feel cheated

*2018-07-17, version 3.01.01*

When I bought the Arris modem, I thought I would be able to use the built in parental controls. Not the case. The Parental controls are blocked, and instead of being offered a choice, I was forced to download this Mcafee app to my iPhone. Not cool. Suppose I didn’t own a mobile device?

This app can be setup to filter by preset categories which you can toggle on and off. I Would give it 5 stars if you could filter by domain and keywords as well.

The parental settings on the Arris modem which I am blocked out of (not cool!) did offer these options.

The modem itself performs well, but I feel cheated because of being locked out of parental controls, which has other options offered there. I didn’t pay $189 to be treated like this.

### 2/5 — Cannot block individual sites like on other Arris devices

*2020-05-30, version 3.02.00*

The concept is good and for someone with little computer knowledge it’s helpful, but sometimes who knows computers and ways to block IP’s and sites this app isn’t useful and is more of a hindrance to the router. Limiting me to block all types of a site not just specific ones. Frustrating they should advance features to block certain sites on my router not just a category.

### 2/5 — It’s straight I guess

*2020-02-18, version 3.02.00*

Ok so I’m not too sure there was a mistake in buying this router. The app loads way too slow.. I mean like my phone is connected to the WiFi for goodness sake so to be slow with loading is insane. Can’t even try to get in it when I’m not home because I know it just won’t work. This app is not useful. It’s showing 4 other unidentifiable devices but doesn’t list them. The parental controls are Not Easy to understand and the App itself was not simple to set up but once it did it happened in the blink of an eye so I don’t even know how I managed to set up the account. Fix all the bugs please!

### 2/5 — Can't Past First Base

*2019-07-27, version 3.02.00*

One of the first things this app wants you to do is identify the devices on you network. Which is a fantastic idea! It provides me a list of devices on my network but fails to provide a unique identifier like, say, the MAC address. So now I'm supposed to identify several identically named devices. Several Windows machines and several Apple devices. It's up to me to come up with a plan to identify them. A MAC ID would have solved that.

### 2/5 — Unworkable schedule

*2018-08-11, version 3.01.01*

1) The clock gets confused at 12:00 AM/PM. If I want to set the access time from 10AM to Midnight, I should be able to select 12:00AM, but I can’t because the app says the end time can’t be before the start time. So I choose 12:00PM, same message. It treats noon and midnight as both AM and PM. I cannot allow access across noon and midnight.
2) Once you set a time, it can’t be edited. Why? You have to delete and add another. If you make an AM/PM mistake, tough, you have to start over.
