Even though this is a “new” version. Other bus ticket apps have this functionality, Also due to slowness in iOS realising that the Wi-Fi has disconnected the tickets can hang on activation. Other bus ticket apps work without connectivity. ### 2/5 — Needs to be faster and top up with Apple Pay *2026-05-12, version 20.02.16* The app is too slow to launch and then activate or open a ticket. This is the primary purpose of this app. Optimising the number of seconds from app launch to QR code being on screen should be the primary goal of the developers behind this app as this can sometimes delay boarding the bus. Also, topping up the wallet needs to use Apple Pay. It’s frustrating to have to find a CVV number when it should be a single step with in-app Apple Pay. Also missing support for American Express. ### 2/5 — Takes a long time to open *2026-03-16* Bought a monthly MCard, but quite often the app takes a while to load, or you have to close it down and try multiple times. Which often means holding up the bus or hoping the drivers will let you on and scan afterwards. Nearly been in a position where I’ve had to pay! ### 2/5 — Barely updated *2026-02-26, version 20.02.16* You have to try entering your card details over 10 times just to pay for a ticket it rarely works ### 2/5 — Functional but Rudimentary *2026-01-25* The basic function of buying and scanning tickets is fine but the app overall is very rudimentary, both functionally and visually. The Moovit implementation is very surface level but at least it’s ad free. I would hope this app will be rebuilt from the ground up or replaced entirely to support full live tracked journey planning and E-tickets when the ‘Weaver Network’ starts to roll out. ### 2/5 — Apple pay? *2025-11-17, version 20.02.16* Still no Apple Pay functionality. Other bus ticket apps work without connectivity. ### 2/5 — It worked before and now it doesn’t even open when I need it. *2025-10-15* I never had an issue with this app before and now it doesn’t even open when I need it. It’s always stuck on the loading screen. I don’t want to have to pay a single ticket every time despite paying £74 for a monthly one. Fix this. ### 1/5 — Didn’t work “invalid wallet” loop *2025-07-06* I installed this on my last trip to Yorkshire, but didn’t end up using it. When I opened it this time, it said Invalid Wallet. Retry didn’t work. Hit cancel. Got same message & no option to click on anything else, even to report the error. Tried deleting the app & reinstalling, in case I had out-dated version. Same issue. Gave up & will now delete permanently. ### 2/5 — Not fit for purpose. *2025-07-02, version 20.02.16* Lots of issues with this app. Very buggy. Today it refused to load. Had to delete and reinstall. If unused for a few months it locks you out. You then need to search the internet to find the telephone number for Metro customer service and only they can unlock. Perhaps most annoying is that when presenting the phone to the QR reader on the bus, this automatically opens Apple Wallet, preventing the QR code from being read. Apparently there is a way for app developers to fix this (this from a forum) “The app developer needs to add code, that Apple makes available to registered developers, that will suppress Wallet from opening when the third party app is open first”. This needs fixing now. Until then, it’s frustrating and embarrassing for customers and bus drivers and it’s pretty useless. ### 1/5 — No screenshots *2025-05-29, version 20.02.16* I prefer to take screenshots as safety due to potential lack of internet. Logging me out is an awful way to do this ### 2/5 — Being charged *2025-03-27* Bought a monthly ticket yet everytime I use it on the bus Arriva is taking £2 out of my bank and I don’t know how to stop it. I’m now in minuses due to this issue. I should not be being charged to use a ticket I paid £40 for!! ### 1/5 — Stolen Payment *2025-03-24, version 20.02.10* I activated a £2 single ticket in the app this morning but the option to view the QR code never appeared. I ended up having to use my credit card instead and my £2 spent on the app ticket was wasted. ### 1/5 — Shambles. Nothing works. Forget it. ### 2/5 — Not reliable *2025-03-05* This apps okay but there’s so many issues and bugs, sometimes it dosent scan or sometimes it just logs you out, I rely on this app for college but it feels so unreliable as each time I scan it as there’s a chance it doesn’t scan or I need to pull up a ticket again and I’m sat there wasting my time the drivers time and everyone else’s time, when it logs you out you need Wi-Fi to log back in but I simply can’t access Wi-Fi all the time which is so unreliable especially for a travel app I wouldn’t reccomend this app at all. ### 1/5 — Activated Tickets Don’t Show Up *2025-02-09, version 20.02.10* Sick of this app. Not only do tickets sometimes fail to scan. today when i activated a ticket, it wouldn’t show up. Neither would it let me activate another. I had to pay for a new ticket and lost money on the ticket i activated. ### 2/5 — Needs updating *2025-01-27, version 20.02.10* Mcard should at least take apple pay? come on all apps in 2025 do apply pay it’s much more secure safe and easier ### 1/5 — Absolutely TERRIBLE *2025-01-20* Stupidly unreliable, overpriced, and what is with the timers?! I activate a single ticket and the buses keep cancelling!! Im losing money because of the unreliability of these stupid buses, 2 buses cancelled this morning and made me 40 minutes late to school, cheers guys, and they don’t refund you when you request a refund. Absolutely ridiculous, it’s better manually buying tickets at this point, terrible app, terrible buses, why do so many cancel?! And the bus drivers drive past you when you’re stood at the bus stop, holding your hand out? Metro can go **** itself ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Fix offline usage. *2026-06-06* I get that verifying the tickets are valid and not duplicated or whatever is importance but rather than doing it every time I open the app, please do it once a week or in the background. If I open the so before bus gets here I get flagged as invalid if I wait till the bus arrives half the time I can’t load the ticket quick enough. To make it worse since 3G is gone there are so many more black spots and buses have sped giving free WiFi. I’ve had to walk miles to get signal on some darts, yet almost every day a girl/woman will get on the 576 bus say her phones dead and get a free trip. Like really. Double standards. I’ve paid yet no wonder travel is so expensive. ### 1/5 — What happened? *2026-04-15, version 20.02.16* I changed to this app so I had a better range of buses I could use. Today I opened it and it had been “updated”. Now I can’t use it. Here I am at the stop, and I need my card to enter the CVV code. The card that is linked to ApplePay on this device. The card I don’t carry because I HAVE IT ON MY PHONE. Back to the first app ### 1/5 — Tickets only load with perfect signal or if you enable airplane mode *2026-01-30* Tickets only work if you have absolutely perfect service or have it disabled. Completely useless, if your ticket doesn’t work you’re let on for free anyway; the money saved by not fixing your app is spent on free tickets for riders. ### 1/5 — Loading Issues *2026-01-20* Offline ticket viewing needs to be added immediately because not all areas in the city centre have access to full service. On multiple occasions now I have been forced to tap on when I have an expensive ticket already purchased because the app does not allow offline viewing. What is the point in spending £70+ on a monthly ticket if I cannot even load it to get home from work? Fix this ASAP because I should not have to spend extra money because the app will not load my ticket in time to get on the bus ### 1/5 — Awful. *2025-12-10* App requires internet connection; something we all know is sparse when travelling. When it does have access to an internet connection it takes a ridiculously long time to load. I have infinite date so I can ALWAYS load my ticket. The app NEVER logs me out. Lastly, my ticket doesn’t EVER randomly get declined for no reason when scanning. It looks like I didn’t buy any, so then when bus arrives and I want to activate it, I have to quickly buy one again and then after this, suddenly all my previously purchased tickets are showing. ### 4/5 — Please support Apple Pay *2024-06-06, version 1.3.4* It would improve the app if it supported Apple Pay. But it shouldn’t need to refresh its tickets every time you open it, this causes problems on the rail line from Bradford to Halifax where there are lots of tunnels and you’re not able to show the conductor a valid ticket when you’re in a tunnel. If you only have an active day ticket and you’ve refreshed your ticket that day, it shouldn’t need the internet to open the app. That would also cut down on mobile data for people who pay for their data. ### 3/5 — Good *2025-12-22, version 20.02.16* The app does its job. Or out it nowhere it logged me out right when I opened the app for driver. ### 3/5 — Large app *2024-10-15, version 20.1.11* App to large ### 3/5 — Ticket machines not accepting valid tickets *2024-07-10* Frequently bus drivers tell me that their machine has not accepted my ticket because the time on my phone is incorrect. I then have to close the ticket or sometimes the whole app and then it works fine. That is a pain when quickly going from bus to train, bus to bus or so on. The time on my phone is set via the network. ### 3/5 — Works, but could be a lot better *2023-03-16, version 1.3.4* The app works well enough. You can buy a ticket and save it in the app, then use it on the bus or train or whatever. Unfortunately there are several features that should be standard on this sort of app missing. The sign up and login don’t work with the password manager so you can’t generate a password to use with the app. Autocomplete doesn’t work anywhere so you have to enter all your payment details manually.
