## What is MealCam?

MealCam is where you save pictures of everything that you eat. It is great for intermittent fasters to observe their feeding window lengths without starting timers.

You can shortcut from the Lock Screen or Control Center to capture Meals very conveniently.

The UI is focused on images instead of calories. Instead of obsessing over numbers, you can look more holistically at what and when you eat to measure things like:

-How many colors did I eat?
-How many ingredients did I eat that had water in them? (i.e. fruit/veg vs processed food)
-How much time did I give my body to digest before I ate again?

While it may seem simple. When you use it consistently it becomes immensely powerful.

It may be the catalyst to a skinnier, healthier you because of the insights you gain...

...or simply because of the improved accountability you gain by simply taking a picture of every meal! (You might ask yourself, "should I really be eating this?" as you reach for MealCam)

...it could also uncover a food allergy you never knew you had but was responsible for your bloating and discomfort.

---

Focusing on calorie counting can often be misleading because to meet a goal you may eat processed food that has an artificially-engineered low/no calorie number...

...when what your body really wanted was a hydrating piece of fresh fruit!

(Colorful fresh produce isn't usually sold with nutrition labels... and yet isn't it the healthiest food for us?)

So by focusing instead on things like colors and water content you'll get a more holistic view of what you eat.

...and it's easier! (It only takes seconds to take a picture of a meal)

---

With photos of your meals you'll have a broader perspective of what you eat where you can observe patterns you would otherwise be unaware of.

You can ask questions that get to the root of problems:

- What made my digestion like this?
- Why am I bloated?
- Did I eat something yesterday that caused me to break out?
- Why did I gain weight this month?

MealCam allows you to recall what you were eating days, weeks, or months ago. (Unlike our memory which often can only recall the past few meals)

...and the very act of taking a picture of every meal makes you more conscious of what you eat.

You can also create a 1 day or 7 day summary of your meals to share with your doctor, personal trainer, or nutrition coach.

---

MealCam uses of all the greatest new features in iOS:

-It uses iCloud to privately sync your meals between devices.
-It has a useful Widget.
-It supports multitasking on iPad and works in all orientations.

~Private iCloud Syncing~

Meals can be stored in your private iCloud database where they sync with all your devices. Since MealCam uses iCloud's private database, I as the developer do not have access to them. They're for your eyes only.

You also have the choice to store them locally on your device without syncing.

~Widget~

A common thing you may ask yourself is, especially if you are intermittent fasting is: what time was my last meal?

The widget is the perfect place to quickly answer this question. It shows a timeline of today's meals. Or if you haven't eaten today, how long it's been since your last meal.

You can quickly reference what time your last meal was without opening the app and decide if you're ready to eat again. You can also put an accessory widget with this info on the Lock Screen.

~Multitasking~

MealCam works in all sizes and orientations so you can use it for multitasking on the iPad.

You can use MealCam side by side with other apps. For example, when you are looking for recipes online you can use MealCam to see what you've eaten the past couple nights.

I hope you enjoy MealCam as much as I do!

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2026-07-17, version 2.2*

I got so tired of the complex apps. I just wanted to track things simply. Then, if I want to go and log for macros, calories, etc, I just look at my photos at the end of the day and I’m set. I have been so much more accurate because I never blow off logging. It’s simple and quick. At restaurants, traveling, grabbing a snack, all those times when you don’t want to stop and use a bunch of pull downs and navigate to select food and quantities. It is exactly what I needed.

### 5/5 — Simple and functional!

*2025-12-31, version 2.2*

I’ve used many meal tracking apps in the past and am so glad I stumbled upon this one. It’s simple to use and extremely functional. I am loving not having the ‘stress’ of all of the bells and whistles on the cumbersome and complicated tracking apps. All we “need” is the knowledge of WHAT we ate to keep ourselves in line with our goals. We’re stressing ourselves out and complicating life with measuring to exactness to count calories and macros. I get that some need to do that but most of us don’t. Keeping it simple is the key to success. The quick swipe for viewing the eating/fasting window was an awesome update, and having all of the photos I took through the day all in one place is what’s keeping me going. It was 100% worth the in-app purchase to see days in the past at a swipe as well. I hope this app developer keeps the app active as it’s the best I’ve ever worked with. I will for sure be recommending it to others.

### 5/5 — Minimalistic and mindful

*2025-07-10, version 2.1*

Ive just been using this app for a couple of days and have been very pleased with the process of tracking my meal in a simple and effective way. Its helped me to realize what im putting in my stomach.

the little bubbles bouncing around is a very fun touch and make it seem like a visualization of my stomach contents. Lol. I only wish there were a button to lock the bubbles so they don't fly around as try to make sense of the pictures.

### 5/5 — The absolute best food logging/fasting app in the App Store!

*2025-03-29, version 2.1*

I’ve been using this app for years to stay at my goal weight and never expected it to be updated nor expected it to be better (since I felt it was perfect as it was) but this developer is just amazing! The latest fasting update and updated widgets are simply amazing! Thank you!!!

### 5/5 — Great and simple

*2024-10-15, version 1.2.3*

Pls update calendar… It’s hard to see the perivious days quickly. I didn’t track for a while and I wanted check previous days but that’s inconvenient. It’d be great if there’s be an indicator if there’s any photos at specific day.
Thank you for the app.

### 5/5 — Fun and easy food tracker!

*2024-08-16, version 1.2.3*

It helps so much to visualize what I eat. I can see my day or my week at one time to record. The bouncing ball pictures make it so colorful fun. This is the easiest food photo app out there!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2023-04-11, version 1.2.3*

Simple, no frills, photo journal of meals. That’s exactly what I was looking for. I don’t want to track calories, just the photos to show the variety I’m eating. Adding notes and duplicating meals is a good feature too, but don’t need anything else! Love it.

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2023-02-10, version 1.2.3*

It’s so simple and easy. I love that there is nothing about the app encouraging weight loss or gain. It has really helped me pay attention to what I am eating without guilting me.

### 5/5 — 🍇✨

*2023-01-28, version 1.2.3*

Would love to see the widget work on the homepages but such a cool app!!

### 5/5 — This App is GENIUS!

*2023-01-26, version 1.2.3*

I almost never write reviews. This app is a hidden gem. Exactly what I was looking for to easily visually track my meals throughout the day. It’s a pleasure to use. Thank you! Well worth the paid upgrade.
