Means morning news gives me bite-sized updates with a hefty side of sarcasm, thanks to Sam Sacks. I get a run down on all the malarchy in the US and abroad as well as union triumphs and challenges. Thanks to means, I have access to a breadth of other content all with an anti imperialist slant. I’m proud to keep my membership and have gotten comrades to follow and subscribe. But the longer ive been a member, even the daily news has become shorter and not daily. Please make more content I won’t cancel my subscription because its important to support the content that is out there. But it is getting harder to recommend this to others ### 3/5 — Buggy app - great when I can get it to play *2023-02-21, version 3.8.1* Content doesn’t play, especially on my Apple TV. I’ll select content to watch and it will just load and load until I eventually get the following error: “Response status code was unacceptable: 500” ### 3/5 — Great idea but needs work! *2021-09-01, version 2.7.0* Means TV shows that worker owned platforms can provide however I think this app is very hollow and doesn’t have many of the features we have come to expect from apps such as Netflix or YouTube. Despite the moral idea of helping the workers there os little incentive to use this app other as some of the content is on YouTube and the viewing expertise lacking. Tools such as remembering where u left off and not using the system ui for pausing and fast forwarding for example are ways of improving the app a lot. I just think this app needs to be more polished snd thought out and it will be far more successful. ### 3/5 — Bugs! *2021-06-17, version 2.7.0* Hey there’s problems with the app. iPhone 12pro max. Can’t exit app and go back to where I was. It plays but can’t see the picture. Teenage Stepdad rules! ### 4/5 — Great Concept, Limited App *2025-04-20* Having a fully worker owned leftist streaming service is a great idea! Means TV seems to be slowly expanding their catalogue of creators. Some of my favorite left creators have a presence here. Means Morning News is always a good watch. For Apple TV users, the app is functional, but not without its flaws and bugs. If you have multiple devices, you may have to sign in when you switch, but the app won’t let you play a video without restarting the app. This wouldn’t be a problem if the app would return you to where you left off. The app is also a little slow on older Apple TVs. There are quality of life improvements they can make, such as showing only subscribed creators, marking watched videos, and allowing users to turn off auto-play. A UI refresh to make it more efficient and easier to navigate would be welcomed. ### 4/5 — Love the shows, UI needs work *2025-02-22* I love what y’all are doing and I’m going to continue to support what you’re doing. However, I am very neurotic about user interface and find both the UI for iPhone and Chromecast to be difficult to navigate, specifically navigating to “favorites” from the main menu. I go to the app to watch Means Morning News every few days, but navigating to the newest episode is always frustrating. Again, love what you do! Just wanted to give feedback. ### 4/5 — Good content, bad bugs *2021-02-11* Not sure if this is a reskin of a templated app since Means uses a streaming platform — but the PiP bug is awful and iOS 14 has been out long enough for this to be addressed by now. Otherwise, kudos!
