### 1/5 — This is trash

*2022-11-21, version V3.0.10*

The meat it plus is trash and seems to be defective. The documentation and trouble shooting information available on the web is poorly written, if not absent or any relevant information. I will be returning the Meat It + because it does not work.

### 1/5 — Update issue (Unusable)

*2022-10-24, version V3.0.10*

After downloading the app, I was not able to connect the probe because there was an “firmware update” available. When I tried update the “firmware” it would immediately say that the update failed. After several attempts I just used my old fashioned meat thermometer.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2022-10-04, version V3.0.10*

Should have read the reviews. Do not buy this product. I used it for the first time today. Put the tri-tip on the smoker, walked 10 feet away, wouldn’t re-connect. Don’t waste your time.

### 1/5 — Simply doesn’t work

*2022-09-25, version V3.0.10*

Bought mine from Williams Sonoma and since they don’t back their products, I am stuck with a $100 waste of time. I cannot even test it because it does not sync to my iPhone.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy

*2022-05-21, version V3.0.10*

The idea is great. But I can verify the connectivity issues. This is not worth $130. It was a gift, I read the reviews and tried it myself. The app is useless. Can’t connect

### 1/5 — Doesn’t connect Garbage!!

*2022-05-12, version V3.0.10*

Don’t buy doesn’t connect!

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2022-03-14, version V3.0.10*

The probe would not charge past one hour of use. The Bluetooth range is so small that you have to basically stand with your phone next to the base which has to stay right next to the probe. Tried to smoke a pork butt and the probe died 30 minutes in. I had just replaced the batteries in the base the day before because it looked like the probe wasn’t charging with the cheap batteries that were included. Nope complete waste of money!

### 1/5 — Probe Not Found. What is going on?

*2022-02-07, version V3.0.10*

“Probe is detected” … okay, so far so good. And then … “Probe not found”!? Then “Connection lost.” Repeater not working. Ahh! This has happened all the time. I’ve only had one successful cook. If this happens after the next app update, I swear I am throwing this expensive piece of poop away. If the next app update does fix this then I’ll happily change my review. Sigh…

### 1/5 — 2022 and App is Garbage

*2022-01-28, version V3.0.10*

Can’t even update firmware after numerous tries and it makes the whole thing unusable. Went straight to the garbage.

Another great idea with poor testing and implementation.

### 1/5 — Wow… completely useless!

*2022-01-17, version V3.0.10*

Simple to follow instructions on pairing the probe to the app are useless. Spent 30 minutes fiddling with it and got nowhere. I can’t imagine depending on this product for cooking and certainly don’t want to turn my outdoor cooking into a stressful situation due to another gadget that doesn’t work!

### 1/5 — App does not even work properly

*2021-12-03, version V3.0.9*

Can’t even lock into their App.
Desaster. I will not even try it out if App does not function.

### 1/5 — Disastrous failure

*2021-11-25, version V3.0.9*

The software that you install to make the product function is a hopeless mess, it loses its connection to the thermometer and you can’t re-establish it, because it only detects the device when it’s in its case. Great idea, I hope someone else picks it up and crushes Meat It.

### 1/5 — App stinks

*2021-11-25, version V3.0.9*

App and thermostats both stink. Bad purchase n my behalf

### 1/5 — Got nothing!

*2021-11-25, version V3.0.9*

Both my husband and I downloaded the app separately and neither of us could get it to accept our sign-up. Nor would the website load. Is this company still in business?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Immediately loses connection

*2023-06-18*

Don’t waste your money on this. It doesn’t stay connected. It was even telling me that the probe was too far out of range when the probe was in the same hand as my phone. Restarted everything, and it seem to connect, but even before I got a chance to put the probe in the meat, it disconnected and would not reconnect. Waste of money, waste of time.

### 1/5 — IT issues

*2023-06-03*

Can’t even rate the probe, you can’t create an account. Easy mode says firmware update for the probe and it fails every time. Login with Facebook, google, and Apple don’t go further into the app and creating a login or trying to login buttons don’t work. Never got to use product. Returning probe that I can’t use.

### 1/5 — Don’t buy

*2023-05-18*

App simply does not work unless you use the “easy sign in” thermometer also wont stay connected if it’s in a grill. Awful product. Horrible experience

### 1/5 — Won’t connect - took it back

*2023-05-14*

One of those devices that just won’t work with my iPhone. I spent 30 minutes running through opening my settings, turning on and off Bluetooth. This app and device are horrible.

### 1/5 — App stinks!

*2023-01-04, version V3.0.10*

The thermometer may be great, but this app hasn’t been updated for over a year now and has nothing but bugs.

Keeps saying needs a firmware update (which fails, but you can bypass anyway)

Can’t set manual temps higher than 189 (need 205 for brisket)

Unfortunately I can’t support what could be a great a produce with a less than useful app.

If you are just looking to measure some basic steaks, roasts, or fish you might be okay though.

### 1/5 — What system dies this app control

*2022-12-26, version V3.0.10*

The app firmware update fails repeatedly. Can’t save a personal recipe easily. Needs lots of work to make more user friendly.

### 1/5 — Device is useless because app is broken

*2022-12-26, version V3.0.10*

The firmware upate fails rendering the thermometer totally useless

### 1/5 — Don’t GET!

*2022-12-04, version V3.0.10*

This probe seems legit. However it constantly looses its connection. And then when you try to reconnect it, ir won’t work. Because it needs to re-dock with the base. But it’s in the grill or oven. So you can take it out, flaming hot and try to reconnect it. Way way way to complicated and not easy to use! Stay away.

### 1/5 — Useless!!

*2022-12-01, version V3.0.10*

It simply wouldn’t connect to my iPhone. It kept saying to fix the problem in settings. There is nothing to fix! Worthless and embarrassing that I purchased before reading the reviews. On my way to return after an hour of trying to connect to the phone. DONT BE A SUCKER!!!

### 1/5 — So disappointing

*2022-11-24, version V3.0.10*

Paid $99 for this device and it’s awful. Doesn’t connect while cooking. Loses connection and the features and UX are awful. It’s as if the people who built the app literally never use it as a consumer. Returning it and deleting the app. p.s. the Turkey turned out just fine without this…

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Temp

*2019-12-24, version 2.1.3*

Not sure what all the issues are. Probably not reading instructions that when connecting and registering the large part of prob needs to be in center of docking station not at top. I made mistake had it at top re read instructions place in correct location it connects to register and connects after charged in oven 30’ away. Shows meat temp and oven temp. Hate to see products slammed. Sharper Image from what I’ve seen in last 30 years has cute items but most are top quality

### 4/5 — Has improved

*2020-11-17, version 3.0.3*

When I first tried this app I couldn’t set a custom temperature above 99 F.

Just downloaded and tried again and the app seems quite improved.

### 3/5 — Lots of room for improvement

*2022-05-02, version V3.0.10*

The probe works well for me so not complaints there. I like how it includes the little “fork” to help take the probe out. Very thoughtful.

I agree with most of the contractive feedback that other reviewers have posted, like:
1) the battery mechanism requiring a coin or screwdriver or long finger nails to open - we are not kids
2) the App should allow us to get to the temperature settings quicker.
3) the poor bluetooth range - your workaround with a second device requiring Wi-Fi reception doesn’t work for me as my BBQ is on the roof of my building and I don’t have Wi-Fi reception there.
4) the App for iPad only displays in portrait mode when most iPad stands positions the iPad on landscape mode. Suggest you fix this issue easily with the dynamic display function which is now a standard in almost all websites/apps.

Given the price of the product, better execution was expected.

### 3/5 — It’s OK

*2021-11-17, version V3.0.9*

I could not recommend this product at this time.

First, on the case, it’s very inconvenient to have to go get a screwdriver to open the battery case. A tool shouldn’t be necessary to change batteries. What if I was searing and had to change them?!

The key to remove the probe without burning your fingers is a nice feature though.

Second, the app experience is not good. My probe was roughly 20° off the actual temp (as measured by another probe and an instant read) when I turned it on. It has since gotten within 5° of the actual temp after about 10 minutes waiting but is still not calibrated. An option to calibrate and adjust would be nice.

Also, I don’t want to have to explain what I’m cooking and how I’m cooking it every time just go get to the temperature. Allow a simple option where I can just see the probe temp and also the goal temp. There are also casing errors in text used on push notifications in English.

### 3/5 — Works great. No range

*2021-05-26, version 3.0.6*

The thermometer and app work well together. I have had no connectivity issues between the app and the thermometer. All of my cooks have been great and cooked to exact specs with the unit and app. Functionally I have no real complaints other than the app has to stay on in the foreground or the unit will disconnect.

My biggest issue is with the range between the thermometer and the phone. This must be using some old Bluetooth chips or something because the range is about 4ft. Any attempt to move it beyond that distance and the connectivity is gone. Every time. Just beware about the range.

**Developer response:** Hello Ricopittini,

Thank you for your notes,

You can extend the probe connection with the Wi-Fi repeater Mode.
This means making a relay using a 2nd telephone or tablet connected to the same WIFI network.
Which allows to leave next to the oven or BBQ, the 1st device connected in Bluetooth to the probe and to be able to move away with the 2nd device connected to the 1st device in WIFI.

For WIFI connection:

Concerning the procedure to activate the Wi-Fi repeater of your Meat°it probe, I send you a YouTube link, which shows you how to associate the 2 phones in Wi-Fi mode.

Thank you and I look forward to your reply.

### 3/5 — Good app but can set personalized temp

*2021-03-13, version 3.0.6*

The app is good and does a great job tracking the temp and speed. However if you try to personalize the temperature (I’m cooking brisket now) you can’t input a 3 digit temp. Basically you can’t personalize it.

### 2/5 — No Updates is the Real Issue

*2023-04-20*

Unlike most of the reviewers, mine actually works and connects fine and I’ve had it for a few years. The real issue is that there are no updates to fix issues users report.

So for me, there is no time estimate for when the cook will be done. I see it in pics, but mine never shows that.

I’d also really like to be able to re-establish a connection with the probe mid-cook. But instead you need to start the cook over.

Notifications on iOS don’t seem to be like any other app notifications. I want them on my watch even with my phone locked in my pocket. I have yet to get this working correctly.

Supporting portrait mode shouldn’t be too hard so I can stand my device up. But nothing yet.

So, the only updates that seem to happen are the ones that enable the app to remain in the App Store as iOS and iPadOS crank along.

### 2/5 — Is this still supported?

*2023-02-25, version V3.0.10*

There hasn’t been an update in a year and so much easy room for improvement. :-/

### 2/5 — Murphy’s law device and app.

*2022-08-19, version V3.0.10*

I’m not even done with my first use and I’m already frustrated with this device. I can’t believe this was sold in Williams Sonoma who is known for their quality. As a product manager I would love to solve these problems. As a customer I’m frustrated. WiFi to another device is not a solution for range issues. The notifications are useless and non-sensical. Temps are wrong. English is not reviewed by an English speaker. Focus on multiple ways to connect the app is wasted effort. Agree with others that a simple thermometer mode is needed. I can’t use this 1/4 way through a roast without it yelling at me every 3 seconds that it’s cooking too fast.

### 2/5 — Needs updating

*2020-12-12, version 3.0.5*

The WiFi extender works ok. You constantly need to reconnect which is annoying. Also the “personalized” food temp has an error. You can only enter 2 digits which gives an error of “temp to low”. Good thought but just a lot of bugs.
