Need more parts first off. It’s pretty limited to what you can get in game once adventure is done. You can finish adventure in a day. The next part is online battles. Why does the entire team of the enemy go first? I was literally stunned the entire game and couldn’t do anything at all. Seems a little weird to let that happen and didn’t enjoy it. Please fix that issue and it could be a 5 star game. Something about the battles is just off. ### 3/5 — Monetization; Fun gameplay *2023-02-18, version 0.3.36* TLDR: Do not download this game (or allow your children to play this game) if you are not comfortable with gambling, gatcha systems, or games that block progression behind loot boxes/in-game purchases. Beyond that, Medabots plays well. 4/10 Let me begin with the mechanics of this game; sufficiently executed. The game mechanics of this Medabots app definitely suits the IP. The gameplay genuinely feels like an extension of the show some of us grew up watching. The Medabots app also captures the collecting and building of Medabots that kids idolized about the show. What children--or gamers in general--don't enjoy is loot boxes. If you're reading this review and you're a gamer, if you enjoy the escapism and the experience that video games offer, then you know all too well how non-immersive, stifling, and otherwise unenjoyable it is to play a game with loot boxes. Countless games end up going no where; no longevity, no "life," no support. A major "Red-flag" of games that end up in the App Store trash bin is a content structure that is based around gambling for content a player needs to progress the game. Many reviews of Medabots mirror the same experience: "I started playing, I got to 'x-y-z' point, then I couldn't progress significantly." The answer to this progression obstacle? Given the structure of content in the game, the development team/producers are telling players, "You have the option to play this game for hours, resulting in enough resources to open the amount of randomly generated parts/content that spending $10 would have achieved in two clicks of a button. What more do you expect? Isn't that fair?" No, monetizing content progression with loot boxes or a gatcha system is not fair to players, and it's the fastest way to steer players toward the "Delete App from Library?" button. Players should not feel pressured to spend money in order to enjoy what is genuinely a well executed game--from a game mechanics perspective. 4/10 Would not recommend. ### 4/5 — Dull, Medabots in name only *2023-02-15, version 0.3.36* It’s boring, not a single talk about Medals (the bots core, their personality, and their inner strength) or any characters you knew, including the one famous referee. It’s a blatant cash grab at nostalgia. If you like card games with customizable characters that affect how the game is played, go ahead, but expect nothing else. Beat bland looking characters 10 times with no clue about what purple crystals are for, repeat for missions with this or that team assembly, pretend to care enough to be somewhat viable in multiplayer (haven’t tried, not going to bother, but come on its MP, it’s bound to just be a cesspool of YouTube builds with no sense of fun at all) and laugh at how much better this could have been if they actually watched the show or read the manga ### 3/5 — Fun but too hard *2022-12-27, version 0.3.22* After several hours and a few different restarts (chose different characters) I was able to make it to the eleventh mission. It has stumped me now. No matter how many times I try this mission I can’t pass it. I can earn keys to buy new robot parts by competing in PvP, but it takes 100 keys just for a single part. You earn 10 keys per loss in PvP and it takes 16 crystals to play a PvP match…and you can only earn crystals by winning one of the free PvP matches. So basically you can only get new robots by winning PvP but you can’t win PvP without getting new robots. The people who spend real money to buy new robots are the ones winning all the PvP matches. ### 4/5 — Not too bad *2022-12-25, version 0.3.22* It loses connection a bit too much but overall a pretty enjoyable game so far ### 3/5 — Multiplayer Empty *2022-12-22, version 0.3.20* I tried to play multiplayer but is no one playing or maybe because I just started. Tried finding match at afternoon nothing tried later still nothing. I also have problem with attack up stat it is useless it doesn’t boost enough I found out the hard way. need to buff or something because having to increase full 100 to get one point of damage increase is not worth it. ### 4/5 — Fun but needs MORE *2022-10-12, version 0.2.78* It really is a fun game. Easy to grasp and enjoyable. But you’re so limited with how you gain parts for your Medabots and it’s incredibly frustrating. They need to implement more ways to earn parts and maybe implement challenges and/or login bonuses to keep players coming back for that next freebie or to complete any sort of challenge/achievement that would earn them better, or even just more, parts. ### 3/5 — My attack power went down *2022-09-07, version 0.2.68* Everybody’s else’s seems the same idk a bunch of glitches the game cool but if they just updated saying that we can’t use duplicate parts I say that u guys give us five new parts for each random part you guys made us choose from in the begging it was the choices u guys gave us I used to watch the show as a lil kid in the 90w so I’m sorta disrespectful with how the whole games setup has potential but there’s problems to it ### 3/5 — OK but needs work *2022-08-24, version 0.2.60* I have made about five different accounts, and I will say that the best part about the game is the adventure. They also get access to a bit of your personal data like most other apps when you download and they can sell the information. Don’t play the game or you’re the next victim ### 2/5 — Cool concept horribly off balanced *2022-12-29, version 0.3.22* The idea is great being able to customize and upgrade your robot, but the only way to get the parts is to fight other people (and win) who have already processed much further then yourself. This causes a horrible grind that frustrates new players rather than encourages them to continue playing. When a new players biggest attack is around 80 damage and other players are drop 150+ every round it’s impossible to progress. ### 2/5 — Great Game BUT… *2022-10-12, version 0.2.78* I would give the game 5 stars… if I could play it. All of a sudden when they released the live version, I went to sign in and and couldn’t. It keeps telling me I need a better internet connection. (Um, I have impeccable internet connection in my home, and live literally next door to a Cox Internet building…) Tried resetting my credentials, and also tried a new sign-in. That’s not working, either. I bought boatloads of MEDA for this game & can’t wait to use it in-game. Sadly, now I can’t even play, and I’m not OK w/ that. Really hoping they can get me straightened out so I can finally get back into the game.
