### 4/5 — Great! Except for one feature...

*2019-03-21*

Gun and Explosion sound effects are a bad idea to have in a synagogue. Why would you even have those? Use an elephant sound, a car horn, the sound of thunder- ANYTHING EXCEPT WEAPONS!

### 4/5 — Really nice

*2013-02-20, version 3.1*

I actually rly enjoyed reading the megillah in synagogue thanks to this app. It was so easy to follow along and the letters were rly clear. The noises were a great touch

### 4/5 — Shorter granger sounds

*2012-03-11*

This is a great resource and terrific that it's offered for free. It would be great if the gragger sounds were shorter (or if there were a 'stop' button to tap), since they are fun to use but run longer than the average Haman-booing and it is awkward during services. Thanks!

### 5/5 — Five stars!!

*2012-03-08*

Thank you for makin this app free. It's a real lifesaver
A suggestion,
Make the sounds not able to go on when my iPod volume is off!! Thank you!!

### 4/5 — Great app, just a wee bit lacking

*2012-03-08*

A few issues with the app:

1. Should be able to adjust the font size
2. On iPad, if device's volume is all the way down, there's no reason why the Haman sounds should play when tapped. Accidental tapping is quite unpleasant, to say the least. Please enable muting
3. Would be helpful to include Edot Hamizrach post-Megillah brachot nusach

### 5/5 — Awesome !

*2012-03-07, version 3.1*

Awesome!

### 5/5 — Topissime !!!

*2012-03-07*

Excellente application que je recommande

### 4/5 — Great!

*2011-08-02, version 3.0*

This app is very good. Thank you for the מצוה for making it free. The main reason it gets 4 stars is that some if the tropes were missing and wrong.

SUGGESTIONS
I do think that in the next upgrade you should put the ברכות.

You should also put a feature that allows you to zoom into a certain part.

Thank you!

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2011-03-28*

The app does everything it is supposed to do. The new features are great. But the best part was my wife trying to figure out why I was texting during the megilla reading. She never imagined that my iPhone could have anything to do with the megilla reading. Hey!! There's an app for that!!!

### 5/5 — Great!!!!!!!!!!!

*2011-03-20*

Great application, thank you very much, it helps me reading the meguila for my mother AT the hospital :) merci beaucoup and toda raba!!

### 5/5 — Awesome app for twice a year

*2011-03-20, version 3.0*

An iPad Megillah with its own buttons to boo Haman? How can that get less than 5 stars? Of course, everyone in my temple thought I was crazy... But I go to an Orthodox shul, so maybe I am. Happy Purim! Get this App!

### 1/5 — why?

*2021-02-15*

“in app purchases” means an offer for 6 more sound effects, which doesn’t have a close button, covers the controls at the bottom of the screen, and keeps going back to the app store (asking for my thumbprint) every 10 seconds. notice that it’s even in the screenshots for the app.

i just want to delete this from my phone.

### 1/5 — Inappropriate sounds

*2020-03-10, version 3.4*

I appreciate that there is a Megillat Esther app that includes gragger sounds, but I was dismayed to find one of those sounds to be that of a gunshot. I live in Pittsburgh and belong to one of the three congregations that were attacked on 10/27/2018. I had to delete the app to prevent me from inadvertently tapping the gunshot icon whenever Haman’s name was mentioned, which might have caused some people at the Megillah reading to panic. Please rethink which free sounds you offer as gragger noises.

### 1/5 — No English?

*2019-03-19*

On your description, it says English.. can’t find it

### 2/5 — Sound does not work

*2019-03-20*

The sound effects worked at first when I downloaded it yesterday. Today it no longer works. I think the problem is at your end, as I read I’m not the only one with this issue.

### 2/5 — Cute but doesn't actually work

*2014-03-13*

Megillat ester actually comes up and you can read it so they get two starts for that's but none of the sounds work and yes I tried them all and also checked my phone volume. It's a shame, it looked pretty promising but to add insult to injury after the first few sounds didn't work they had a pop up offering me 6 more sounds for the alow price of .99

**Developer response:** The app responds to the mute switch on your phone. That was probably the issue here. Please never hesitate to email us for support siddur@rustybrick.com

### 2/5 — Je n'ai pas compris

*2011-04-16*

Je ne sais pas se qu'il faut faire, il y a un grand texte que je n'arrive pas a lire aidez-moi svp!!!!!!!

### 3/5 — Great, but some minor errors

*2011-03-14, version 3.0*

I noticed some missing or incorrect trope. Other than that, this is a great app.

### 3/5 — Megillas Esther

*2009-02-25*

Amazing fun app. Rustybrick should be complemented for bringing Jewish themes to the iPhone in amazing fashion.
This software, like their other products is elegant, simple, and useable.
Kudos to the rustybrick group.

### 4/5 — Feedback!

*2023-03-07*

Great app, easy to follow along. Love that it highlights the “haman”s which was fun for my kids to follow. Love the built in noisemaking features. PLEASE REMOVE THE GUN SOUND! My neighborhood had two men shot leaving shul the week before Purim. Gun sound effects in shul are the absolute last thing we need. Thanks!

### 4/5 — Works well except…

*2023-03-06*

The app works very well, is clear and easy to read, and has a nice feature of highlighting the “Hamans”. However, I wish there was a way to make the sound effects minimize or go away, and to hide the offer to buy more sounds. I don’t want to play them and not only have I accidentally hit them many times while scrolling, but it takes up space at the bottom of the screen that I would prefer to have as more text. Other than that though, it’s a great Megillah app and is much more comfortable to read than most of the other ones in the store.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love this app!!

*2025-03-14*

It works exactly as expected—plus a little extra!

It would be great if the developer updated the UI and added features like auto-scroll. Other than that, it’s a fantastic app.

### 5/5 — Previous review

*2019-03-20*

I just tried it and this sounds do work!!!
If you want 6 additional sounds it is $.99.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that!!!
Please enough of your fake news.

Use this every year on my iPod. This year I took my iPad and it was even better! Thanks so much for this amazing App!
I also use your Siddur on weekday Rosh Chodesh in Shul so I don't have to keep switching back and forth. Love Rusty Brick Apps. Buy them as gifts for my kids and grandchildren.

### 5/5 — Great app!

I was in shul and realized I didn't have a megilah. So I went in to the App Store and searched Purim and within 30 seconds there it was. What a life saver, thanks a million!
