## What is Mela?

Melá is where a gathering and the people in it live in one place. Send an invitation as a link; guests RSVP from a browser — no account, no app, no password.

HOST SOMETHING
Build an invitation in three steps, send it as a link, and watch replies land. Guests RSVP from a browser with no account, no app, no password — you never make someone sign up to say yes.

A POTLUCK THAT ORGANIZES ITSELF
Say what's needed. Guests claim dishes and quantities, add their own, and everyone sees what's still missing. No spreadsheet, no group chat scroll.

KEEP A COMMUNITY TOGETHER
Churches, temples, neighborhoods and volunteer groups get a shared noticeboard, an events calendar, programs, a trusted vendor list, and the numbers and documents people always ask for. Members join with a code or a link.

REMEMBER THE PEOPLE
Birthdays and anniversaries surface before they pass, not after. Send a wish in a tap.

ASK MELÁ
Ask a question about your community's own documents — the bylaws, the schedule, the handbook — and get an answer with the passage it came from.

BUILT WITH RESTRAINT
No ads. No feed. Nothing sold to anyone. Your people are not a product.

Melá is free.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-10-07*

Very good features and a brilliant alternative for Evites/Punchbowl..

**Developer response:** Thank you very much, that means a lot. Mela is built for the people who organize the same crowd again and again, and there is more on the way for teams and communities - Keep an eye for new features and releases. If anything ever gets in your way, hello@joinmela.co reaches us directly. — The Mela team

### 5/5 — A community-first event app that's poised to make a dent

*2026-10-01*

I'm writing this to pass along some word of mouth, because my experience with Mela has been a real delight.

I'm genuinely upbeat about Mela. It's a community-focused event manager that delivers an exceptional, seamless experience from start to finish. Creating an invite is a joy - choose from nearly 60 designs or make your own with a photo or video upload. All of it is free with no fees and no ads. Beyond the native app, you can also use a web link for a desktop browser experience.

I was lucky to come across Mela while it was still on TestFlight and to connect with the founding team. They're smart, analytical problem solvers, and they show real empathy for users, which I experienced firsthand when I tried the app out for my son's birthday. Our conversations went well beyond invitations into the everyday friction we all run into, from juggling Zoom links to shopping cars to coordinating across group chats. You can tell they live the community life themselves and are motivated, insightful and skilled at building useful tools for everyday people. They have the heart of Mela.
They were happy to roll out improvements in quick increments. We shared feedback on a Thursday night, and by Saturday there was a new build with reusable potluck food lists, repeating events, and a one-tap guest reminder. When something was confusing, they explained it right away and had a clearer version lined up for the next release. That kind of turnaround is rare.

I've used other invitation apps for years, and none of them come close for community and recurring events. Most are stuck with the approach they settled on years ago and haven't rethought the experience from the user's side. Mela starts fresh. Bring your own photos, videos, documents, and other content, and it all lives in one place. I can tell it's built to scale, both in the number of users and in the mix of structured and unstructured content it handles. Mela is one of a kind.

Try it and make it your own. Set it up once and rolling out, tracking and coordinating events becomes a breeze. No fees, no ads, no drama.

**Developer response:** Thank you Vijay, that means a lot. Mela is built for exactly this, and there is more coming for teams and communities (especially sports). If anything ever gets in your way, hello@joinmela.co reaches us directly. — The Mela team

### 5/5 — Finally an app to manage Communities and Spaces with ease

*2026-09-14*

Free, no ads, and a headcount you can estimate and plan for.

I organize for our Church events, the same crowd every week. Two things sold me. First, it's free with no ads whether you invite 8 people or 800. Evite's free tier carries ads, and removing them is a per-event purchase that climbs with your guest list. Second, Mela gives me a real headcount: adults and kids counted separately, plus-ones as a number, dietary notes on the reply, and a dish list with quantities that closes each item once it's covered. Evite gives you a yes count and a "what to bring" list.

Guests reply with a name and a number, no account. Mela emails each person their own link, shows who opened it, nudges the ones who haven't replied, and updates everyone if the time or place changes. The people I invited are still there for the next event.

The UI is the sleekest of the three: clean, fast, nothing buried in menus. Creating an event is one screen, the RSVP view reads at a glance, and the guest side. The app looks great on a phone in a group chat

Not perfect yet: fewer templates than Evite and no licensed kids' characters (Punchbowl still wins there). For one birthday, the big apps are fine. For anyone running a community, Mela is the first app that gets it.

Stats for every game and practice. Enter player stats for season games, friendlies and practices, with or without a season. Parents can add their own player's numbers; the coach confirms them before they count toward season totals and leaders. Organizers can give any parent the job of entering stats. Every line shows who entered it and when, and keeps a history of changes.

Box scores read as a table: one row per player, one column per stat, with who entered them said once underneath. Tap a player for the full line, its history, edit or delete. A Share button on the Stats tab makes a PDF of the latest game, the team or a player, for friendlies and practices too. Trends show each player's stat game by game against their season average, and the team's results over time.

Sign-ups are clearer. Each game shows what it still needs ("needs 2 more"), who's already in, and one button to sign up or cancel. Rides fold into one line until someone needs one. Team Home shows what you're signed up for and what still needs a hand.

Teams get an Events tab for everything that isn't a game: the team party, a fundraiser, the end-of-season banquet. Games and practices stay on Schedule.

Also: invitations you're a guest on show the host's video, photo or design again, with their Good to know notes. Your own design can now be a video too. New on the Events screen opens the same steps as Host something. A website link for every community, with Instagram and TikTok for the kinds that use them. A mobile number is now asked for once if your account doesn't have one.

### 1.5 — 2026-09-23

Stats has its own tab. Your players' season totals, the latest box score, the leaders and every earlier game, one tap from the team's home. Season keeps the table.

Seasons are easier to set up. The teams you're playing show right on the New season sheet, and you can scan a printed list of them. Edit a season's name or dates, or end it, from the Season tab. Scan a schedule and mark each row as a season game, a friendly or a practice; families get one notification for the whole sheet.

Class payments, per class. On the class list each person shows one thing: what they say they've paid (a round check confirms exactly those dates and tells them), or how far ahead they're paid. Tap a person for every date of the term with a check you can tick or untick; mark the rest of the term in one go. Members get a note each time a payment is confirmed.

Paying by Venmo. The Venmo button on a registration fee or a shared expense now opens the Venmo app with the amount and note filled in, or the web pay page that keeps them.

Also: video invitations load more reliably, three invitation designs draw their candlelight properly again, and the My players block on the schedule only appears when there's a game to answer for.

### 1.4 — 2026-09-21

A new home for your team. Open your team to the next game, who's coming and the score when it's in. Your most-used tabs sit up top, everything else is one tap away under All, and a Setup tab walks a new coach (or any new organizer) through getting started.

Sign-ups and rides. Each game shows what help is needed: snacks, line judge, scorekeeper, or a job you name yourself, for as many people as it takes. Going the same way? Tap "I can drive" to offer seats, or "I need a ride" to take one or ask for one.

Game day. Keep score live, point by point, while families follow along. Send a Game Day Recap afterwards, take attendance at practice, run a tournament day with courts and rounds, and add a photo to a player's card.

The season. Open registration with your own form and waiver, roll last season's teams into the next one, and subscribe to the schedule from your own calendar app.

Families and classes. Sign up yourself, a child, or several children for a class: each has their own place, their own "coming" answer and their own payment, and you get a reminder the day before and two hours before. Organizers get a Members tab with names and numbers, a contact check on every join request, and can add their Instagram, TikTok and website.

Payments. Turn an announcement into a payment reminder with a one-tap Venmo link and an "I've paid" button (Mela keeps the record; the money never passes through the app). Classes can now meet at a different time on each day, every other week, or on dates you pick. Shared expenses, key dates, checklists and the Approvals tab are here too.

Also: reminders before events you said yes to, a notifications inbox you can clear, and a fix for a player's phone number that did not save.

### 1.3 — 2026-09-20

Sports teams and leagues. Start a community for your team or league: a roster families claim safely, games and practices with one-tap availability per player, scores in your sport's format, a league table that fills itself in (with groups if you need them), player stats with a season page and a PDF report, and a private link to share the table. Scan the roster, the schedule or a score sheet instead of typing them. Every new member is approved by the organizer or a coach, and players appear as first name and last initial unless the organizer chooses otherwise. Volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball/softball and cricket.

Repeating events that keep going. Pick how often: one date, several days, or a repeat that runs daily, on chosen weekdays, every two weeks or monthly, with a time per day and an end date or none. Invite once; guests reply for each date and get a reminder two days before, plus a last call the day before if they haven't replied.

Also new: a header photo or design for your community, search when adding people from contacts, adding a video to an invitation works again, the total headcount under your event's numbers, a reminder when an invitation hasn't been sent, and Rate Mela and Send feedback in Settings.

### 1.2 — 2026-09-11

Fifty-nine new invitation designs, each with its own moment: a lid that lifts, a mobile that turns, lace that parts, tiles that lay themselves, a locket that opens on a photo. Pick the type of event, then a design and its colours; the card plays on the reply page and is the picture in the message preview. Three colourways each, all free.

Creating an event now runs Type → Design → Details → Who’s invited → Send. Also: Mela emails invitations and shows who opened them, emails updates to guests, and sends one automatic reminder.
