## What is Meld?

Meld is a polygon modeler and texture painter built for iPad. Topology editing tools, rebuilt for use with touch and Apple Pencil.

MODELING

Extrude, Inset, Bevel, Loop Cut, Knife, Edge Slide and Subdivide.
Extrude along the region, the normals or each face individually. Bevel edges or vertices with adjustable segments and profile shape. Cut loops with even spacing and slide them into place.
Every tool opens a settings panel after you commit, so you can dial in an exact amount, add a segment, or change a profile without undoing and starting again.
Move, rotate and scale with gizmos in global or local orientation, or transform freely with an axis constraint when you need one direction only.

TOPOLOGY

Split, separate, dissolve and delete across every selection mode. Fill and bridge edges. Merge vertices by distance or at their center. Flip normals, shade smooth or flat, join objects together.
Full undo and redo on everything.

PAINTING

Paint color directly onto your model with Apple Pencil, using pen pressure. Roughness, metallic and emissive channels let a surface read as worn metal, wet plastic or a glowing sign. Unwrap UVs with smart unwrap.

LIGHTING AND RENDERING

Point, spot, directional and area lights. Place cameras, frame a shot at the aspect ratio you want, and capture it. Ray traced shadows and reflections on supported devices.
Import reference images to model against. Fly through your scene or orbit it, in perspective or orthographic, with instant front, side and top views.

FILES

Import and export OBJ, glTF, GLB and USDZ. Export a single object or the whole scene.
Scenes autosave as you work, and the file browser shows a real 3D preview of every one. Your files stay on your device, and export to formats every other tool already speaks.

FREE AND PRO

Everything in modeling, topology, selection and transforms is free. So is color painting, OBJ import and export, and up to three saved scenes.
Meld PRO adds unlimited scenes, glTF, GLB and USDZ import and export, roughness and metallic painting, and the PBR renderer.
Subscriptions are monthly or annual and renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel any time in Settings.

### 4/5 — Good application

*2026-10-15*

This app is actually pretty good for hard surface modeling but the only issue i have is that my ipad 9th gen gets a little hot even when modeling light stuff
I hope it gets an optimization in the future

### 3/5 — Blender-ish

*2026-10-05*

Blender Editor Lite basically. Subscription options are just ridiculous. This is an $8 app at best. Sub needed just to import .glb etc? lol nice try guy. The symmetry options are broken.

### 5/5 — This app is so promising, please please please try it

*2026-09-17*

I’ve tried SO many 3D apps to replace a blender workflow on my iPad, many of which are premium price, and this app blows them out of the water entirely by the amount of features packed into one lightweight app. I cannot believe there’s even UV editing in this app, this is heaven sent, this looks like it’ll be the all-in-one modeling app I’ve been looking for. There’s so much detail packed into one app, and useful tools you wouldn’t normally see in other 3D modeling apps like seam markers, edge/vertex/face dissolving and edge loop bridging. You can paint directly on your models too in the UV editor, which is AMAZING. There’s so much to unpack here, and I’ve only scratched the surface of it. My recommendation to the developer is to add more documentation, which I’m sure they will, but I’m also looking forward to implementation of modifiers if not already included. A mirror modifier is def needed if not already included. Give this app a shot! I look forward to seeing it grow!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! Modifiers such as mirror and thickness are included in Meld under the blue wrench icon on the left-side tab. I definitely agree that I need to improve the documentation and make features like this easier to discover. Thank you again for taking the time to try Meld and leave such a detailed review!

## Frequently asked questions about Meld

### What are the core modeling tools available in Meld?

Layers in the painting editor

### 1.1.3 — 2026-09-25

Sculpting
Sculpt mode now works on one object at a time with selection out of the way, and two new brushes: Slide, which moves the surface without changing its shape, and Relax, which evens out spacing. Apple Pencil pressure controls brush strength, and there's a 3D brush cursor showing size and where you're about to hit.

Symmetry
Turn on X, Y or Z and every move, rotation, scale and sculpt stroke is mirrored across that axis — model half a character and get the other half as you work.

Select Path
Select something, press and hold another vertex, edge or face, and everything along the shortest route between them is selected. Works in all three selection modes.

Loop Tools
Circle, Flatten, Relax and Space, from the hold menu — turn a rough loop into a clean circle, flatten a selection, or even out spacing.

Help
A manual is now built into the app, with searchable pages and short clips covering navigation, the UV editor, materials, painting, importing and exporting.

Also in this update
Lock objects in the scene graph so they can't be selected — ideal for reference images and retopology. Per-object viewport transparency. Snap to objects you're not editing. Fixes for loop cut, extrude winding, scaling and rotating in straight-on views, and transparent surfaces drawing over reference images.

### 1.1.2 — 2026-09-20

SNAPPING

Snap to the grid, or to vertices, edges and faces. Makes extrusions and moves land exactly where you want them.

RIP

Split vertices and edges apart to open up your mesh.

PAINTING

Paint into any material, whether or not it's assigned to the mesh you're working on. Fixed strokes in the UV editor landing on the wrong texture, and smearing near seams.

MATERIALS

Opacity now lives on each material, with a slider on its row. Assign a material to selected faces without it covering the whole mesh, and tap again to unassign.
