You don’t have to touch over an actual black key, the app treats everything chromatically. If you try to touch way down at the end of the key to avoid the black key, the app thinks you’re trying to close it, so the whole keyboard starts moving/trying to close the app. Unusable without some sort or other controller, which I don’t have. My iPad Pro has many midi inputs (recognized by apps such as Numa Player), but this mellotron app does not see them. Can’t use it if it fails to see the available midi inputs. ### 2/5 — Mellowsound issue *2023-07-22, version 6.0.1* When I open the app, I have no ability to close it and have to turn off iPhone to close it. ### 2/5 — Awkward gaps *2023-07-06* I love the sound on this instrument, but the downside is if the divider between the white keys is touched even slightly, it triggers the sharps or flats above them, quite a lot. In fact playing on a glass screen (iPad or iPhone) makes it useless, as it’s difficult not to get that gap avoidance perfected. I’m a 6’3” keyboard player with big hands. This results is the odd randomised note when playing, enough to ruin the playing experience. This bug prevents me from buying the upgrade version. I’ve been playing (full sized) synths for over 40 years without issues, except with this app. All other synth apps I have on my devices. don’t do this. Hence two stars. ### 5/5 — Even better now ! *2023-02-16* This is a lovely app, and a lot more versatile than it might seem on the surface. Great sounding mellotron (and other) patches, and now the ability to save combinations of sounds and settings as user patches. This means I can now use this as part of my live rig, working through AUM. Perfect ! Just a word about the Developer too. I raised the issue of user preset saves a while back and the result is......this. Very responsive. Great customer service. Ma l’app (suoni bellissimi, eh) funziona perfettamente con il mio Iphone 13, ma NON vuole saperne di funzionare con tastiera esterna (M-AUDIO mini 32 MK3) su iPad versione 2019 (modello base, 10.2). La cosa strana è che la riconosce e la mostra tra i “controller” midi. This thing oozes character and vintage vibe. Son clair, réglages simples, Auv3... que demande le peuple ! Par contre l’appli est beaucoup trop lourde, pratiquement 1GO !! Je suis obligé de l’installer et le désinstaller, quand on a la fibre ça peut aller, mais quand on ne l’a pas comme moi c’est compliqué. Y a-t-il un moyen quelconque d’alléger son poids dans l’avenir ? However, with the recent update AUM no longer recognizes it in any of my older projects, essentially telling me it isn’t installed even when it is. App is useless! ### 1/5 — what’s this? ... *2021-06-25* — and i’ll reply: the most irresponsible ignorant and careless update of an AUv3 app I’ve seen in my life. •no backward capability to own earlier versions? rly? today I’ve loaded some of my projects (speaking of long-play mixes from 20 to 40 mins each) which rely on this synth in terms of various strings sections sounds - meaning there are more than 3 instances per project minimum, each been tailored with built-in parameters not for hours, days, or weeks, but damn months(!)to find just the right spot for each mix for every instance, backed up in presets along the way. guess what? the updated app is recognized by the host as entirely new plugin, so all the presets and previous state-saved instances of this brand new major stuff became unacceptable, so everything is a subject of redux now. the older version just appears as “uninstalled” so there’s even no possibility to access the previous parameters visually - envelope curves, tone knobs, volume levels - everything needs to be revisioned by ear for this ton of instances. just try to imagine this, for damn sake. • add to this inability to choose the source channel for incoming MIDI information (AUM) and no input pitch settings (some of instances were pitched +7/-5/+12 semitones as harmony tracks) - this I haven’t seen before for any other synth, because it’s just obvious insanity - not to have this kind of ability. So all the MIDI routing needs a rework as well. guys, are you completely nuts and gone off the rails?! it’s freaking months of accurate tone shaping work we’re talking about. and of course this kind of stuff happens just when I got the most of these projects done and let myself to sleep over night and come back the next day to check everything with a fresh ear. and I woke up to THIS. what the hell? I just would not believe if this won’t be fixed within the next 1-2 days. so disrespectful for real. it’s not a freeware, though I can’t remember any of it to update in such an drunk-to-the-bone-alcoholic way. man... ### 1/5 — Débile et... payant *2021-03-05, version 4.0.8* Pas de piano gratuitement, etc... Una volta sbloccata la versione completa - il prezzo è più che ragionevole - c’è anche la possibilità di un minimo di editing dei suoni attraverso un inviluppo ADSR e una serie di riverberi. L’unica pecca, ma è un parere soggettivo, è l’estensione della tastiera a circa tre ottave, che poi era effettivamente l’estensione dello strumento originale.
