The actual melodica sound is quite good but in breath mode it would be more realistic to have a bit of portamento or pich bend. I would use this app a lot more if the breath mode was fixed and behaved like a real wind instrument. Shame. ### 3/5 — Okay could use some work *2011-07-01* Keys stick. Need quicker ability to swap between octaves and stay there. Was craving the Hohner sound - closer but still no cigar. Breath control is novelty and nice touch. I see where a review that was posted a year ago reported the same issue. If it’s a user issue, then some sort of in-app FAQ or other instructional help would suffice. Otherwise, please pump up the volume! **Developer response:** A fix for this recent issue, (the review you refer to was 1 month ago) will be available shortly. Thank you for your patience. ### 2/5 — Volume? *2023-07-01* I have an iPhone and was using this app in the past. With recent updates there’s no volume. No matter how much I turn up the volume you can’t hear it through the speaker. The sound is really low. Not sure what happened but the app is useless if I can’t hear the sound. **Developer response:** A fix for this recent issue will be available shortly. Thank you for your patience. ### 2/5 — Lacks Midi and MP3 and recording *2018-09-10* The app is ok, but lacks the crucial function of midi to hook up external midi-keyboard and the ability to play over tracks from mp3. That would make the app amazing as a tool for practicing melodica. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. I'll be adding play from external midi keyboard. Mp3 playback is also a possibility. ### 3/5 — Problems *2022-06-09* I’m don’t want to rate this too low, because it’s just been updated. But it’s not showing up in Cubasis or AUM, and the sound level is barely audible. The app itself is perfectly fine and functions very well, but I don't think I'd buy it again if I could. ## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Magical Melodica! *2026-07-29* Discovered this when I was exploring Garage Band & saw it mentioned. I’d never even heard of a Melodica before, & had to google what it sounds like! I decided it sounded like something that would work well in a music project, & downloaded it. It sounds very much like a harmonica, & with its configurable reverb & delay it produces beautifully expressive sounds. I’ve seen some comments about it being very quiet (mine isn’t!) & not having the facility to pitch-bend, but if you use it with a DAW like Garage Band or Cubasis 3 you can bend the pitch to your heart’s content. It’s one of my favourite lead instruments, & I love it. Many thanks to the developers! 😊 ### 5/5 — Yes! *2025-02-14* I suddenly thought, would it be great if such an app existed. After a quick trip of 2 others watch were virtually unusable I found this. It’s perfect. The fact that it has perfect effects for the Pablo sound is the icing on the cake. Well done whoever you are. And thank you. **Developer response:** Glad to hear that! ### 5/5 — Excellent sound - now usable as an AUV3! *2022-06-10* This is a very good recreation of the sound of a melodica, which with the inbuilt reverb and delay, is capable of easily producing those plaintive sobs and brass-ish stabs featured in dub music. And now, after a long wait, it is a proper AUV3 and so completely usable as an instrument inside AUM. Note that during installation I 1) opened it standalone and 2) had to soft reboot my iPad before AUM could find it, but now it does, and those lovely, lovely plaintive sobs are fully available, Great to see a dev persevere and make their instrument better and more usable. :) **Developer response:** Update: AUV3 support has been added in version 1.9 ### 5/5 — Found so *2019-10-30* When playing music at iPhone x and newest its get out of the app Please create some thinks to not get out from it ### 5/5 — sweet little ap *2014-04-29* Short keyboard, but sounds just like a melodica. Can adjust reverb, touch sensitivity and a couple of other things that I haven't tried yet. It is fun to fool around with, but could actually be used to accompany other music. Sounds very Parisienne. ... And ...you don't have to turn blue breathing into the little tube like you do on a real melodica.
