Stop guessing at the grocery store or the farm stand. Melon Pitcher turns your iPhone into a watermelon ripeness tester: knock on the rind three times, and the app analyzes the pitch of the sound to tell you how ripe the melon is and estimate its sweetness, right on the spot.

HOW IT WORKS Melon Pitcher listens through your iPhone's microphone as you knock on a watermelon. Using on-device frequency analysis (FFT-based pitch detection), the app measures the dominant knock frequency in the 200-350 Hz range associated with watermelon ripeness, then converts that into an easy-to-read ripeness level and an estimated Brix sweetness value.
