## What is Memento?

Saving notes is not the same as recalling them under pressure. Memento turns cards you have collected into active recall practice and helps you keep them available through exam day.

Set a target date and Memento adjusts today’s workload from the time left and your review history. It also shows projected exam-day recall, so you can change pace while there is still time.

— Answer before you reveal
With Type Answer, enter what you remember before seeing the back of the card. Your first attempt is tracked separately. Missed cards can return later or continue into Mistake Coach for focused retries.

— Spaced repetition around your deadline
A spaced-repetition schedule times each card from its memory state. Spend more time on cards that are slipping and less on cards you already know.

— Make cards from text, photos, and PDFs
Paste a list or add a textbook photo or PDF. AI drafts the cards, and you review and edit every one before saving. Anki decks (.apkg) can be imported too.

— Finish Today, then practice your way
Reviews from every deck come together in one daily session. Once you are caught up, keep practicing with Flashcards, Type Answer, Autoplay, or Match. The same four activities are available from each deck.

— Ask without leaving the card
In-study AI explanations and examples are one tap away when something does not click.

— See memory change
Streaks, projected recall, recall trends, and a year calendar show study turning into retrievable memory.

— Memento Pro
The free plan includes a daily AI allowance. Memento Pro raises the daily AI limits and removes ads. Monthly and annual plans include a 7-day free trial.

### 2.4.1 — 2026-08-17

• Build cards from up to 40 PDF pages at once — it used to stop at the first two.
• Picking a file now shows how many pages will be read and how many AI uses that costs, including what today's remaining uses can't cover.
• Long documents show progress as they're read, and stopping partway keeps the cards already made.
• PDFs in a vocabulary deck now fill meaning and example too — and if the document already has an example sentence, it's used as-is instead of invented.
• A failed AI request no longer counts against your daily uses.

• Turn on AI auto-generate per deck — one tap adds new cards that follow the ones you already keep.
• On days with nothing due, the completion screen can generate fresh cards on the spot.
• Anki import is back: preview every card before saving, with review history and reversed cards preserved.

• Fixed the daily reminder toggle snapping back when notifications were denied — with a clear path to Settings.

### 2.3.1 — 2026-08-10

• Fixed vocabulary auto-fill. The meaning could come back in the same language as the word, leaving a card with both sides in one language.
• You can now fill in the word from just a meaning or an example sentence.
• Decks infer their study language from the cards themselves, so auto-fill picks the right language even when a deck has none set.

### 2.3.0 — 2026-08-09

• The first run is rebuilt: a diagram shows how your exam date splits the workload, and you can preview a starter deck's cards before adding them.
• Lock Screen cards put today's card where you'll actually see it, in a color you pick.
• Finish your first session and you'll see tomorrow's workload, with an optional reminder at a time you choose.
• Fixed typed answers being marked wrong when they were right, and sync getting stuck. Reading speed now applies everywhere, and meaning and example are read separately.
