### 3/5 — Clunky

*2026-01-08, version 2.4.0*

There can be no criticism of the charts they are excellent and I have used them more times than I can count. That said the format of this set up is hugely complicated. All I want to do is access the chart it’s just too difficult in this day and age surely the system can be modernised to save this inexorable drudgery.

### 4/5 — Great on the phone

*2025-12-04, version 2.4.0*

It is the best app for viewing OS maps and I have used it for many years but I am disappointed I can't use it in Car Play mode or buy and download more maps in 1:25000 scale.

### 4/5 — Transferring map to emails does not seem possible.

*2025-11-25, version 2.4.0*

Great shame that I can’t transfer my chosen route on to my email.

### 4/5 — Good, useful

*2025-07-15*

I use the marine charts for Australia. Although outdated, they are very useful as natural features don’t often change. Also all hazards are visible, unlike GPS charts that hide some items until zoomed in. It would be terrific if up to date charts were available.

### 4/5 — Love it but room for improvement

*2025-06-14, version 2.4.0*

I’ve been using Memory Map for many years now. It’s still my go-to mapping app, possibly due to familiarity in the main. I’ve always found having to jump from the App to a separate website to check for availability or pay for upgrades to be odd, outmoded and old fashioned but this has never moved with the times or been improved. Recent changes dictating that the maps I’ve paid for are no longer automatically available across all my devices is also very disappointing. I may well have chosen to look elsewhere if I’d know that was going to happen! Come on Memory Map, we love you but you need to raise your game and a bit of loyalty reward wouldn’t go a miss either 😉

### 4/5 — The whole country in your pocket

*2025-04-21, version 2.4.0*

Gives you the information that Google Maps can not - footpaths, gradients (contours) etc and allows bespoke on / off road route planning

### 4/5 — Almost There!

*2025-04-11, version 2.4.0*

Would be a 5 star will Apple Carpay intergration!

### 5/5 — Walkers dream app

*2024-11-03, version 2.4.0*

I have used this app for many years and I found it to be excellent for walking. You can plan walks in advance and send them to your phone to use on the day. We are Caravaners and it’s really useful when you are somewhere new to see where the footpaths are and hopefully the local pubs. Highly recommended..

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2024-10-13, version 2.4.0*

The only app I need and can truly rely on when in the thick of it.

### 4/5 — Map Review

*2024-10-07, version 2.4.0*

Great map

### 5/5 — Perfect OS map app

*2024-09-20, version 2.4.0*

Pay for UK map, have it available offline forever. What’s mot to like?

### 4/5 — Car Play compatibility pleeeease! 🙏

*2024-09-06, version 2.4.0*

I use this app a lot when out doing 4x4 trails. It can be a bit tricky to use but has loads of great features. One thing that would make it amazing would to make it compatible with Apple Car Play, as that would easily make this 100% the best navigation app

### 5/5 — Best out there, by some margin but one gripe.

*2024-08-10, version 2.4.0*

Been using memory maps since they first launched. Many thousand of hours on the hills, with either the printed maps and routes, or more recently the app. Still the best out there, by some margin.
but... let's have bearing up and not just north 🥺

### 3/5 — Wipes maps

*2024-06-11, version 2.4.0*

It wipes maps on apple, I lost a map that’s worth close to £100, it just disappeared as I was using it. The person who makes the map in question updates them regularly so you have to buy the map again, there’s no way to reinstate it as it wipes it off the app

### 5/5 — Long time user of MM

*2024-03-10, version 2.4.0*

I have used this application for a long time and really enjoy the detail in the mapping.

### 4/5 — A really good package

*2024-02-16, version 2.4.0*

I find MM to be the easiest system to use for walking and travel. A big benefit for me is the availability of topo and marine charts at very low costs, including all USA and NZ charts

### 5/5 — Great app.

*2024-02-11, version 2.4.0*

Been using it almost daily for years and never had any serious problems.

### 5/5 — Outstanding quality.

*2024-01-21, version 2.4.0*

The ability to have a mobile copy of my 1:25000 maps in my pocket is fantastic. I plan trips on the big paper maps, old fashioned I know but old habits die hard!
I transfer all my waypoints to my digital map and head off knowing I have a dependable accurate map to guide me.
I love paper maps and have hundreds of them but nothing can touch memory map for portable convenience.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2024-12-27, version 2.4.0*

Out dated platform, often freezes. Complicated licensing system. Needs to be modernised and made more user friendly.

### 1/5 — Problems

*2024-08-06, version 2.4.0*

I have never been able to use these charts
which I've had from they first came out. Ive been sitting again today to try and open them but the Red Box refuses to open
Awful really.

### 1/5 — No CarPlay support!!

*2023-08-11, version 2.4.0*

No CarPlay support!!

Try all you like it just doesn’t work!

### 1/5 — Disappointing

*2022-09-12, version 2.4.0*

I love memory map on my computer, and on my I phone. But sometimes it doesn’t work on my phone.
I am on holiday in Cornwall and it doesn’t recognise me. Very disappointing. Just when I need it.

### 1/5 — Very awkward to use

*2022-08-06, version 2.4.0*

I have been using this ap for some years now as I have purchased large areas of maps and in my opinion it is very difficult to use. When you change your phone and want to put the map areas you have paid for on your new phone it is extremely complicated and not user friendly in any way. There are many different versions of the maps you have to choose from. This should be automatic. I recently tried the Ordnance Survey app and it was much better. I would suggest the developers of memory maps look at the OS app to see how easy it should be to use.

### 1/5 — What happened

*2022-06-19, version 2.4.0*

Used to be a great app

Not functional anymore

### 1/5 — Unresponsive tabs

*2021-12-12, version 2.4.0*

I purchased Memory-Map but it is not useable on my iPhone 13 - the tabs at the bottom of the screen are unresponsive. I have twice reported to Memory-Map to tell their app developers but have had no response. It is useless to me as it is, very frustrating, and annoying as I purchased this on recommendation over the OS app but can’t use it - not happy!

### 1/5 — Not accessible maps

*2021-04-16, version 2.3.3*

Very disappointed!
Since this app update, I can not access my existing topo maps.

### 1/5 — Was good

*2020-01-18, version 2.3.0*

Asked if i would like to change my review. I would now remove the one star rating I gave it if possible.

My review stands.

Used to an excellent app. Then i got a different device and can no longer get the same map. Wouldn’t be so bad if you could zoom in more and see my plotted points and track maps i made. But now I have to buy maps that I don’t need to zoom in to follow my tracks that I’ve plotted.

### 1/5 — Pretty awful

*2020-01-15, version 2.3.0*

In almost every way this app is... bad. I don’t even know what to pick out as the problem as the entire design is completely lacking. It’s not a good way to look at maps and I certainly wouldn’t navigate with it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2026-05-29, version 2.4.0*

Great reliable app, highly recommended

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-04-15, version 2.4.0*

I love this app. To have all the OS maps at 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 downloaded on my phone. I use it everyday! I particularly like the optimise route feature which makes planning bike rides so easy.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-03-26*

I’ve used Memory Map for many years, both on PC and IOS. It is one of my most used apps and has served me well in reliability and features. Once the more detailed maps are purchased they remain on the device and do not require mobile or data coverage. As long as your device can pick up the GPS signal it works great. (I’ve never had a situation where I wasn’t able get GPS signals). I love this app, in fact I’d be lost without it!

The previous review was from two years ago (2024) and still valid. I still use this legacy app but I’m now also now using MemoryMap For All. MM4A is packed with additional features and is fantastic. Well done Memory Map! It took a bit of getting used to but once you become familiar with how it works it is very good.

### 5/5 — The best of its kind

*2026-02-25*

This is my goto map app for 4wd and country travel. It has proven more reliable and predictable than others, and gives smooth access to a decent range of third party maps. Hema plus Australian state topo maps is all I use. Offline performance is flawless once you are sure you have loaded the complete map. My only complaint is that some aspects of map ownership and access are obscure and differ over time, and between apps on portable and desktop screens. Support is great though and I always get fast answers to questions.

### 5/5 — My go to nav app

*2025-08-30, version 2.4.0*

I love this app for very simple coastal navigation. When coupled with a weather app and a routing app it makes for great safety!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app for Route planning

*2025-04-13, version 2.4.0*

I’ve used this app in the UK and Europe and it’s always been very reliable and very easy to use.
I especially like the way you can record any trails you have traveled and save for another trip

### 5/5 — Best Maps Ever

*2025-04-12, version 2.4.0*

As a serious gold prospector my best go to maps!

### 5/5 — Essential

*2025-02-17, version 2.4.0*

Easy to use, a must for hiking/ walking

### 5/5 — Used for 12 years

*2025-01-02, version 2.4.0*

Have used this for walking and Geocaching for many years.

### 5/5 — Brilliant

*2024-12-01, version 2.4.0*

The app is absolutely brilliant you can get a yearly subscription for offline mode so you can download load the maps, you get them updated regularly it shows open and shut byways, I use this app for green laning (4x4 off-roading) and it’s perfect on a iPad
