### 1/5 — Inflexibility of documenting answers

*2018-08-31, version 1*

This is not an app I would be proud of if I was the computer programmer behind it. It can’t even recognise that 5 is the same as five

### 1/5 — Dumb app, tests your patience not intelligence

*2018-02-21, version 1*

Just to give an example of how stupid this app is, what’s the next number in this series 80, 40, 20,10. Well you would be right in saying that it’s 5 but in the parallel universe inhabited by the designers of this app it’s “five”. There are other examples where the questions are easy but you stand no chance of getting them right because you have to match the ludicrous answers given. I would definitely give this app a miss.

### 1/5 — Skip this app

*2017-07-31, version 1*

Horrible app. All answers must be written exactly as the programmers wrote them with no deviations. For example

An answer of "1 hour and 5 minutes" was wrong because it had to be written as "one hour and 5 minutes" (which in itself is ridiculous as it uses the written number one and the numerical value of 5 showing a lack of consistency)

This problem will continue to plague you unless the answer consists of one word only. My advice would be to skip this app and try some of the other wonderful Mensa apps available in the App Store.

### 1/5 — Not Mensa

*2017-07-05, version 1*

This can't have anything to do with Mensa. You get a daily problem and within the first dozen or so a few have been ambiguous and the questions are often written with poor grammar. Here's an example of a ridiculous question that prompted me to delete the app:

"For breakfast five people have bacon, seven have sausage and 10 have cornflakes, how many have toast?"

Yes, the commas are included/missing as originally written.

Rated at the highest difficulty rating, you have to wonder if it's because of the horribly worded sentence. You can't convince me that there is enough info there to answer that question.

Another math question asked to find an answer in minutes but when it ended up as a number with a decimal I put down the entire answer and was marked wrong because I didn't round to the nearest whole number. Fractions of a minute do have a direct correlation to a unit of measurement called seconds.

This app has nothing to do with intelligence or building someone's reasoning skills. At least I didn't lose any money but all the same, someone is scamming the Mensa name to try to get downloads.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2017-04-03, version 1*

After q1 has been answered correctly it says well done and gives the same question again

### 1/5 — Ok

*2017-01-29, version 1*

I like the questions however I suffered the same frustration as others, you have the answer correct but guessing the correct format is nearly impossible, for example, Q3 has an answer of 1 hour 5 minutes, I tried every standard format and eventually pressed reveal and it turns out I should have written (exactly) " One hour 5 minutes", surely developer has the ability to input the answers in a number of formats to stop this?
Update: Just had to answer a Speed/Distance/Time question, the answer they state is the "correct" one really isn't (the train would have to be 112.5 yards long in order to produce their answer). I'm going to keep the app for now, I still enjoy puzzles however I will not be buying the extra puzzles for a year in-app purchase.
A little disappointed though.

### 1/5 — Don't work

*2016-12-25, version 1*

Answer the first question and get a well done screen and then asks the same question again. Doesn't say much for Mensa if they can't even get a working app up.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stay Away!

*2025-01-29, version 1*

"Wrong answers" are correct answers as revealed later. (Tho bug fix claimed) No explanations are given on the thinking process. Learn nothing here

### 1/5 — Poorly designed

*2023-08-25, version 1*

Terrible design for an app.

### 1/5 — How irritating!

*2021-06-07, version 1*

This should have been such a good app. The questions were engaging and ranged to suit all levels. However, I can’t believe they didn’t fix the really basic app functionality that wrongly marks correct answers, leaving your with a Red Mark. The sequence 80 40 20 10 ends in 5, not “five”, please! Lots of errors like this make it look like no one at Mensa has checked it.

### 1/5 — Stupid and useless

*2020-02-25, version 1*

One question a day aimed towards 10 year olds

### 1/5 — Incorrect answers

*2020-02-03, version 1*

I’m on day two, and the answer to question two is incorrect. The answer should be 290, not 390, since 0=150, £=100, and X=20. Not worth playing further...

### 1/5 — Terrible App

*2020-01-08, version 1*

I have the same issues with this app as most other have mentioned. Either exact input is required or you are told your answer is wrong. And the question regarding the train travelling through the tunnel has an answer that is incorrect! Don’t waste your time trying it as you will only get frustrated instead of testing your mental dexterity.

### 1/5 — Useless and silly

*2019-02-07, version 1*

They ask these questions and then when they show the answer there’s no explanation. So you learn nothing if you don’t know the answer. Or how the question is formed. Completely useless do not get this application until they fix it.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2019-01-06, version 1*

When you input the correct answer sometimes it says it’s wrong when it is clearly correct as it’s the same answer as the revealed answer. For an app claiming to be MENSA standard it’s laughable.😂😂😘

### 1/5 — Don’t bother loading this

*2019-01-04, version 1*

They say they fixed bugs to show correct answers when not typed exactly but they haven’t. I had the correct 3 words but not in the exact same order they did so it was “wrong”. Sorry, obviously not written by someone with a Mensa level IQ.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2018-11-24, version 1*

This is a terrible app. Not worth the time. Just had a simple number sequence, the answer was 5 it wouldn’t accept that or 05 it required you to write the number ‘five’ as a string.

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 4/5 — The input needs some work

*2018-02-11, version 1*

I think the app is great! But the text area in which you type the answer only takes one specific answer, and it has to be entered in that specific way. If not, then you get It wrong. Could you work on the boundaries so that “Five” or 5 could be entered, or “twenty-six”, “twenty six and 26 please? Thanks!

### 4/5 — Two things!

*2017-01-04, version 1*

It would be really good if when you click, reveal answer, it also came with an explanation of how to get to the answer. As sometimes the answer doesn't make sense, and I can't understand how to get to it. I feel it would help to understand and then improve knowledge for similar questions. The second thing is, when answering a question, some of the answers have to written so specifically it's hard to know question to question how to write the answer as it's different each time. I had an answer if 1 hour and 5 minutes, however, I kept getting told it was wrong because I hadn't written it as one hour and 5 minutes, I had written it as 1 hour and 5 minutes and had also tried 65 minutes, but was unsure how it needed to be written which was very confusing. Otherwise a fab app and I think these changes would be really useful.

### 3/5 — Units please

*2018-04-04, version 1*

Would be helpful to know what the expected units are for the answer. Usually work things out as a decimal but often the answer is not!

### 3/5 — More flexibility in answers!

*2018-01-19, version 1*

Great questions, more flexibility in answers accepted.. eg 1/8th, 0.125, one eighth, units no units? Etc.

Explanation would be good too!

### 3/5 — Needs some improvement

*2018-01-09, version 1*

I’m enjoying this App but it’s very annoying when you add the correct answer but it doesn’t recognise it. For example, the three sports need to be written in the correct order.

### 2/5 — Frustrating App

*2022-09-24, version 1*

Entering answers in this app is frustrating! As an example if the answer to a problem is 3, sometimes it will accept the number and other times it wants “Three”. Very frustrating.

### 2/5 — Great app terrible input.

*2019-10-31, version 1*

As others have said the need to answer exactly as the developer decided is what kills this. Specially as the answer to q3 is apparently one hour 5 minutes... Mensa... mixing 2 different forms of number input in one question? Methinks this is “unofficial”

### 2/5 — Poor user experience

*2017-01-13, version 1*

The questions are fine, simple to very hard... the irritation I have is the lack of thought for user input.
If the answer to a question is a number you may simply enter '5' then be told the answer is wrong, but if you change the answer to 'Five' (capita first letter is required) then you are correct.
Similarly, if you need to provide multiple words they must be in the expected order and capitalised.

Polishing the handling of inputs so all reasonable correct values are entered would make it much less irritating.

### 2/5 — Doesn't recognise different formats for answers!

*2017-01-08, version 1*

I typed the answer 65 minutes and it was marked as incorrect, the correct answer was 1 hour 5 minutes. Need I say more?
