Notes made during church saved but as leaving mtg…. All gone! **Developer response:** If part of the note was accidentally deleted (e.g. a section of the note), with that note opened, shake the device and an undo dialog should appear. If the complete note was accidentally deleted, all deleted notes go into the "Trash" tag. From the list of notes screen, show/toggle the Tags by tapping the top left button. The "Trash" tag is at the very bottom of the list. Open the note you want to restore, and tap the toolbar button at the bottom of the screen to restore it. The customer service rep was totally user friendly, stuck with me through several email exchanges well into the evening. I’m on an iPhone and I use the smaller keyboard on the right side, but the app defaults to full and doesn’t let me change the keyboard. Otherwise, great app. I highly recommend. Has been awhile since last update, but continues to function. In terms of the keyboard that appears when you type into a note, you should be seeing the standard keyboard. If you have multiple languages configured for your keyboard you should also be seeing the button near the space bar that allows switching between keyboards. PLEASE UPDATE THIS APP! Ever since the new IOS/your last update, my app doesn’t open, no matter what I try. I have so many notes not backed up so I can’t just delete and reinstall without losing all my data. PLEASE update this app ASAP! Recently it was not updating. When I changed my phone the app was not showing up at all. As I liked the app I had to buy it again from the App Store ! As such, I find myself using my phone's note feature all day to create quick to do lists, liquor lists, ideas, menu concepts etc etc and while iPhone's Notes works very well, I hated that there is no safety prompt on the delete. So last night when the bar was really busy I accidentally hit the trash can instead of the next page arrow- one of my most important task lists gone forever, second time this had happened. Mental Note has a three -step delete; hit trash, delete prompt comes up, and a final confirmation. No more lost notes! And I love all the extra features available. Well worth the small outlay for my needs- an essential tool during my always crazy day; my phone's note function is now basically my brain's medium-term memory... Great app! *edited review- there was an issue with crashing on iOS 9- I emailed Zymbiotic, mental note developer, and they fixed it quickly- no more cash. It desperately NEEDS THE ABILITY TO FORMAT TEXT, bold, underlined, italic. If all they did was add that my review would be back to 5 stars. However it has now wiped all my notes for no apparent reason with no warning. Your app is wonderful except for one flaw. Your highlighting tool is too thick. When you switch the numbers to make the line thinner, it changes from the highlighter tool to simply a yellow drawing tool. When using the thin yellow drawing tool, if not careful, you can draw over the text to where it's invisible. This app would be perfect if that feature was improved. ### 1/5 — Beware *2013-12-17, version 3.4.3* I think this app was the source of issues w/my new iPod Touch. Will see if deleting it continues to solve the problem. This app can't cut & paste well, so organizing & saving in another program wasn't easy. Only a small amount of characters can be cut, & images were awkward to deal with. Keep in mind it won't back up in ur laptop or iPad like the native notes. AND THEY DONT SYNC! Wish I hadn't bought this. Also, I thought it would backup to box as files that can be read on applications other than mental note (like .txt) but the backup is unreadable on a PC. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great App! *2025-06-11* I’ve been using Mental Note for many years and I can say that there are no other note apps that compare to it. So many great features but the app is also not over-crowded or complicated at all. Very easy to use. In all the years I’ve had the app, I only ever ran into one small problem with an update, and support very quickly fixed the issue completely. In these times, when good customer service is very very rare, it was so refreshing and surprising when I had such a smooth and helpful experience with support. Genuinely shocked me. Get this app because it’s great, period. But also get it because the people at Zymbiotic Technologies are great. I couldn’t be more impressed with this app and the people who run it. ### 5/5 — Great 4 Jotting *2024-09-28* I’ve been using Mental Note for years ever since iPhone came to Verizon. I like the interface better than the Notes app that’s preinstalled. In Mental Note, you can jot down a note, give it a title, assign a tab to it (for organization grouping), password protect, put a image in the note or record a soundbite, backup and restore all your notes, and you can assign tab colors. You also have the option of changing typefaces and their size for readability. I don’t think it has sync functionality, so if you have multiple phones or devices the only way to make sure both have the same Mental Note info is to backup and restore — always use the same device to add notes and then backup, and then restore on the other devices that way you don’t accidentally overwrite the correct file. You have options on how to and where to store the backup file and I use iCloud and Dropbox. Of all the years I’ve been using Mental Note, I only had to restart my phone twice (different times) when the app wasn’t responsive otherwise I has worked like a charm. The developers are very responsive and helpful to any inquiries which greatly increases the apps value. (I've had other apps I had to ditch because of lack of support making them useless) Being an "app junkie" where I enjoy trying various apps via the freebie websites, I've yet to come across another one that has the features of this one. Having the ability to draw and use audio in a journal has been invaluable for me! Music writing has been much easier when you have a moment of inspiration, record it quickly to capture the idea and then send that note to your email address and develop it further.
