### 1/5 — Doesn’t know what it’s recording

*2024-12-26, version 2.103*

I apparently turn fast, accelerate fast, hard brake… even when I’m not in the car.

### 1/5 — Worthless big Brother App

*2024-12-10*

Since I drive a company vehicle, I have had to have this app on my phone for the past 5 to 6 years it is still not improved. We have tested this app many times by putting two phones in the glove box. And driving 10 miles on a straight interstate with the cruise control set. When we stop, we will get two totally different ratings. I think the rating are just randomly generated. I can drive on a straight interstate with the cruise control. I had harsh breaking and poor cornering. Which is not possible this app would have a score less than 1.3 if you could give it a zero

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your Mentor experience. Mentor can be a powerful ally in helping you change your potentially high-risk behaviors behind the wheel. We recommend focusing on your trend of progress vs. each individual infraction or perceived error recorded by Mentor. Just as there are ups and downs in losing weight, there will be good drives and better drives. Through 2020, over 240,000 drivers had used Mentor over 1.5 billion miles driven and analysis showed that the riskiest drivers improved their FICO® Safe Driving Scores by 32% over 6 months and 38% over 15 months. So, keep your focus on the goal and keep striving to improve! eDriving is behind you every mile or kilometer driven!

### 1/5 — Junk

*2024-12-10, version 2.103*

Junk. Speed limits in app do not reflect the actual speed limit of the road. Parameters for smooth driving will get you hurt if you drive like that in the real world.

### 1/5 — Janky

*2024-08-21, version 2.102*

Super janky, but hey, the users aren’t doing it by choice so why would the company fix any issues? False alarms are normal. Probably get someone fired by lack of software development but they already got paid so… yea

### 1/5 — This app gives random scores

*2024-08-12*

Our company has used this app for many years to monitor driving. But it is not improved when it comes to its ratings. I have tested it by having two people in the car putting both phones in the console completing a drive and you’ll get two totally different ratings. I’ve also, tested it by pulling onto a
Interstate setting the cruise at 5 miles below the speed limit driving 10 miles getting off at an exit ramp and stopping and I’ll have ratings that say hard turns and sharp breaking. So the scores are random and it’s worthless. The true rating would be zero if, we were allowed to put zero.

### 1/5 — Waste of time and money

*2024-08-07, version 2.102*

Kiss your battery life goodbye. Two people in the same car will get two different scores even if the phones are secured together. Missed trips for an entire day. Received two phone calls while driving that weren’t answered. Logged as calls received.

### 1/5 — Driving score

*2024-08-07*

The app is a joke. You can drive on straight road for 3 miles and score a 5 star drive but the app still takes up to 15 points of you. You can brake hard to avoid a danger or hazard. The app scores this against you. You can give feed back on the drive but there office just tells you it’s how it collects date and then Does nothing. If you stop using the app there office emails your company to tell them
Would not buy this app. People may loose jobs over the incorrect scoring system it has.

### 1/5 — Unpredictable

*2024-07-16*

I never know what kind of score I will get and no guidance on how to improve it. Traffic circles usually improve score, straight driving on interstate hurts a score. Why can I get a number score vs stars. Why can’t I get an exact score for each drive. Is this too difficult? This app is basically useless wish there was a no start button on the rankings. . When carpooling with work we all get different score levels for the same drive. If my hand touches the screen by accident while driving that’s a phone manipulation, it needs to be able to filter accidentally touching vs actually using it. Maybe apple will take time to develop this software so that it’s functional.

### 1/5 — Worthless app

*2024-07-16*

There’s a good reason this app has a 1.3 rating because everyone who uses it hates it. I’ve been driving a company car for over 30 years and over 2,000,000 miles driven without an accident or traffic violation ticket. You can have two phones with this app on them put both in the console and when you stop the trip, you’ll have two different ratings. We’ve had this app for many years. The developers, never do anything to improve it. The developer responses to any criticism is the same garbage no matter what you write. companies forced their employees to use it even though it does not help improve driving. It’s just a big brother App.

### 1/5 — Mentor teaches you how to drive dangerously

*2024-03-26*

Mentor is only useful if you drive during the day, on well maintained roads, in perfect weather conditions, with no stop lights, and no other vehicles within three miles of you.

There have been times where someone pulls out in front of me, and I have hesitated on hitting the brakes because mentor has me trained that hard breaking is bad. It’s better to run that red light, than stop hard if the light turns yellow. Kid runs in front of your car? Better hit them. Swerving to avoid an accident is bad. If Mentor has the speed limit for a road wrong, better follow the Mentor speed rather than the posted speed. Regardless of the danger this poses.

Mentor is so out of touch with reality, I wonder how often they are included in the lawsuits for being the cause of accidents… The laws don’t matter, there can be only Mentor!

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your Mentor experience. We recommend focusing on your trend of progress vs. each individual infraction or perceived error recorded by Mentor. Just as there are ups and downs in losing weight, there will be good drives and better drives. From 2018 through 2022, over 300,000 drivers had used Mentor over 3.5 billion miles driven and analysis showed that the riskiest drivers improved their FICO® Safe Driving Scores by 51% over 6 months and 70% over 18 months. So, keep your focus on the goal and keep striving to improve! eDriving is behind you every mile or kilometer driven!

### 1/5 — Horrible App

*2024-03-22, version 2.99*

Using this app only because my company requires it. I would rate this app a zero however the minimum is 1 star. I drive the speed limit, slow down for curves and am a trained defensive driver with over 35 years driving. Never a ticket, never an accident and I pay very close attention to my driving as well as those around yet my score has only gone to 812 once and immediately dropped to below 800 on several occasions. Avoid this app if you can it gives false readings and doesn’t allow for improvement based on your TRUE driving skill set

### 1/5 — I wish I could give it zero stars

*2024-01-23, version 2.98*

This app is not as refined as they want you to think. For example, I switched from a small pickup to a full size and all of a sudden my cornering is apparently horrible now ? A new phone has the same effect.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2023-12-27, version 2.97*

Been using this for a few years. I have gotten a few perfect scores over that period. I can say I am a very safe driver.

This thing is useless from the beginning. They don’t know what they are doing. They always look for ways to deduct points from you. Once you got a bad trip, it will take you you more than 10 excellent trips to bring you back.

Now they penalize me for driving slow in traffic jam both on local roads and Hway?

Bottom, they are not here to teach. They are here to micro manage and they can’t even do that well.

Very happy we are now deleting this app.

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2023-12-03, version 2.96*

Not accurate I drove 39 km according to car odometer and it recorded 16km
Waste of money for any company to use

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2023-12-03, version 2.96*

Not accurate and even not safe

### 1/5 — Absolutely trash

*2023-11-06, version 2.96*

If I could give this app negative stars I 100 percent would. Phone manipulations when the phone is in a stable spot is one of the huge things amongst others. There’s a lot of flaws in this app that I won’t even bother wasting anymore time on this review. TRASH

### 1/5 — Mentor box tick

*2023-11-05*

This app is absolutely useless, it gives negative feedback when no bad actions have been noted, positive feedback when insufficient data is available and works vaguely effectively only in areas with multiple mobile towers, it is completely unrepresentative of actual driving behaviour. It’s a box ticking backside covering exercise by companies to avoid higher costs regarding actual effective physical driver training, it’s the equivalent of an online first aid course teaching CPR via video. The video based training is repeatedly over stating basic well known facts regarding defensive driving etc.

### 1/5 — Poor performance

*2023-10-15, version 2.96*

This app record the events you didn’t commit. The worst experience.

### 1/5 — Perfect trips will cost you as well

*2023-08-29, version 2.95*

It's a good thing my company only uses this for the safety/training videos.... If they took this program seriously it would be a crime.... It's easy enough to disable when you need to or are on your own time..... The fact that nobody had a positive thing to relate or pass on says enough.... Or more to the point, you can disable it easy enough is the most positive thing about it, you gotta wonder if there is a .gov behind it's development

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Random scores

*2026-09-03*

There’s a very good reason this app has a rating of 1.3 it would be 0.3 if they allow people to put zeros. Our company with our 8000 on the road drivers has finally listened to everyone’s complaining and we are allowed to delete this worthless it does not work. It gives you random scores no matter how you drive. I’ve tested it every few months with multiple drivers in the car. We place three or four phones in the glove box drive 10 miles on the interstate posted speed remove the phones from the glove box and have four different random scores.. We’ll get scores that say hard braking when we haven’t break at all just the freeway. We have had this app for over five years and it’s never really improved. Good riddance.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your Mentor experience. ### 1/5 — Latest update rubbish

*2025-12-27, version 2.107*

Latest update made acceleration off, now mostly records incorrectly. Just another one of many many reason this app is a complete waste of time.

### 1/5 — Increase chances you will be a victim of road rage

*2025-12-10*

Where I live and work, the flow of traffic is higher than other states I’ve lived. I’m driving the speed limit or lower now, and I have a high score (800+) but I have people that tailgate me on every trip—I literally had an old lady on a golf cart on my tail when the road was clear but 25 mph. She nearly passed me illegally to risk her life, maybe even mine or possibly oncoming traffic. But I have to use this app for my job. This app is having me curious about other sales jobs that don’t require this app… I don’t want to be a victim of road rage, I’d rather safely drive the flow of traffic but if I do that then this app gets me in trouble. Guess I’ll have to put my safety in the hands of everyone else on the road since this app has me in everyone’s way!

### 1/5 — 👎

*2025-10-29, version 2.107*

Worst driving app ever

### 1/5 — This app gives random scores

*2025-10-23, version 2.107*

This app would have a rating of zero if they allowed you to give it a zero. We’ve tested this app by putting three phones in the glove box driving about 10 miles taking the phones out and having three different scores. It will give you a score saying hard breaking when you’re driving straight on the interstate. It’s a pretty worthless app that our company requires us to have.

### 1/5 — What a joke

*2025-09-23, version 2.106*

This app is a joke. I don’t care how perfect you drive is it will never give you 5*. If you drop your phone on the floor by accident boom it a phone manipulation, rest you are on the phone if it sitting on the center console boom phone manipulation . You get a phone call and goes to voice mail boom phone manipulation, if your turning out from a street that’s a blind corner and you have to hit the brakes hard because of a car coming around the corner to not hit them boom hard braking infraction. I can go on and on. Only reason I have this is work requires it since it’s a company vehicle.

### 1/5 — Total Mystery

*2025-06-12, version 2.104*

This app is quite pathetic. It gives me the impression that it pulls a score out of thin air or a private orifice.
Just like their credit score, there is no way to understand how they arrived at their rating. This app will ding you for things but never show where there was evidence of a driving “infraction.” It will also lower your rating for things like “no evidence of smooth stops” because your trip only had one stop at the end.
If I were king for a day, I’d search for a more accurate tool to rate my drivers with.

### 1/5 — Tracking device

*2025-06-03, version 2.104*

They are tracking us. Don’t download

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2025-04-30, version 2.104*

I have been driving company vehicles for thirty years in the north east. Smooth driving is a joke.
Never gives an accurate reading. Driving Miss Daisy would get a high risk rating.
If you break because someone runs a stop sign you get an inattentive driving notification.

### 1/5 — Worthless, big brother App

*2025-04-01*

I’ve been driving a company car for 35 years with no accident accidents and no moving violations our company has made us have this app on our phone for the last five or six years. It has not improved Kenny. I have tested this app many times by having two people in the car. We put both phones in the glove box and we drive 10 miles take the phones out. And have two totally different ratings. I think this app just randomly gives you scores not associated with how you drive. I have driven on a straight interstate highway with the cruise set at several miles below the speed limit and then stopped off the interstate and it would tell me I had bad breaking and did not drive through the curve properly this is a worthless app that wouldn’t be around if companies weren’t forced to use it that’s why it has a one rating

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your Mentor experience. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — App is Great

*2023-03-28*

This app works great, and I keep improving.

At first my score wasn’t the best, but after implementing some changes to how I drive, my score got better. I even avoided a few crashes by reacting defensively to other people who weren’t paying attention.

Most people on here complaining are probably upset their driving isn’t the best, and they have to actually learn how to drive safely.

### 5/5 — Absolutely Essential!

*2022-11-23, version 2.86*

Mentor is absolutely essential for the discipline of our workforce. An element of the brilliance of this program is the ruse by which safety is promoted over the obvious financial benefits for the company through lowered insurance rates and the justification for the termination of employees deemed to be risks.

### 5/5 — Funciona y aprendes conduciendo

*2022-05-17, version 2.83*

### 5/5 — Gracias me funciona genial

*2022-05-17, version 2.83*

Me ha ayudado a mejorar mis hábitos de conducción y seguridad al volante.
La recomiendo 100 por 100

### 5/5 — Don’t even notice it

*2021-04-26*

App is great, in my opinion all the bad reviews are from people who are salty that they are poor drivers.

The basic functions work really well and the speed tracking and braking/acceleration monitoring is super accurate. You will have to dispute a few speed limits on regular routes, but once that’s cleared up you will be an 800 driver on here no problem.

This app runs in the background and I honestly don’t even notice it. The great part is that it’s honest feedback so it gives me strategies to make small adjustments that are necessary for safe driving.

Couple things that could be improved:
- trip start/stop timing. Sometimes I’ll pull over at a gas station quickly to follow up and will get dinged for phone manipulations. This is especially frustrating is the rest of the drive was great.
- short 10 minute drives never qualify as great and lower my score if I made no “smooth maneuvers” isn’t no maneuver the safest for of driving?
- mapping routs to inform the driver of busiest or heavy traffic times to avoid would also help increase driver safety.
- coaching videos could use some audio. So it feels like coaching or “mentoring” as opposed to reading slides.

### 5/5 — Changing Driving Habits

*2019-07-25, version 2.37*

Some people do not like the App including me. Not because the app doesn’t work, but because it does work. It’s obvious to me I was speeding to much, playing with my phone for music etc... that is distracting driving, following to close and having to break hard....and on and on

I have been able to get my FICO up and around 770 for the past month with few notification other than the odd hard breaking

Great app, bad driving habits

### 4/5 — 522210

*2020-03-23, version 2.54*

It keeps me focused on better driving habits, some things would change in terms of user functions like turning on a “weekend or evening driving mode” or something so I don’t have to set my trips to personal every time, a small inconvenience, other than that I like this app and everybody in a vehicle should be required to have a monitoring app like this for insurance purposes.

### 2/5 — Armpit

*2023-12-05*

In my opinion this app is awful, and I can only describe it as the armpit of the App Store. App logs negative events for phone manipulation/ phone call answered due to its software’s incompatibility with newer Apple features (newest iOS update, live voicemail). Then leaves this negative mark on your record even though their customer service acknowledges the issue with what seems like total indifference(I never answered or touched my phone when a call came in but app said I answered it). Borderline libel in my opinion since this data is used to track compliance with organizations policies on driving/phones and can be used against you in terms of disciplinary action- and thus, my opinion that this app is a dumpster fire. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. Cue copy and pasted developer response below.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your Mentor experience. While the FICO® Safe Driving Score may be difficult to decipher at times, rest assured there is extremely sound methodology underlying its design, which was developed in partnership with industry analytics leader FICO®. (Note: This has nothing to do with your FICO® Credit Score – same company, different division). eDriving’s validation study which used data from the 2nd Strategic Highway Research Program with over 3,500 participants and nearly 32 million miles of driving data,* confirmed that drivers with FICO® Safe Driving Scores below 710 have a higher crash involvement rate than drivers with higher scores (those above 710). Through 2022, over 300,000 drivers had used Mentor over 3.5 billion miles driven and analysis showed that the riskiest drivers improved their FICO® Safe Driving Scores by 51% over 6 months and 70% over 18 months. So, keep your focus on the goal and keep working to improve! eDriving is behind you every mile or kilometer driven! (*Dataset 10.15787/VTT1/IEKRD3)

### 2/5 — More clarification needed

*2023-08-29, version 2.95*

I really wish it would give us a number score and an explanation as well.

### 2/5 — Flawed

*2023-02-06, version 2.88*

This app doesn’t allow you change history past a week. Doesn’t account for weather conditions. Wants you to drive like an elderly man on perfect roads. The definition of smooth is complete and utter crap. Terrible for short trips.
