## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2025-04-14*

Nothing opens.

### 3/5 — Pro Feature Requests + Apple Watch

*2024-11-02*

Needs an export to vCard action. That would deal with performance issues and Apple Watch need. If not native Apple Watch

### 4/5 — Can’t do anything (even test example shortcuts) without premium sub

*2026-02-02*

I tried using the example shortcuts to get a better idea of the functionality it would provide but in order to even use the example shortcuts you have to pay $5. I have no issues paying $5 but I want to make sure it’s something I’m actually going to be able to use. I’ve spent way too much $$ on apps only to find out they either don’t do what I thought they did or that I don’t full understand how to implement their features. The only reason I’m at least giving it 4 stars is because it’s the same dev that took over Toolbox Pro. Speaking of, I had no issues paying for Toolbox Pro because I was actually able to test out some of the actions it offered before spending $$ on the rest of the actions. Something similar needs to be done for Menu Box.

I’m no longer going to spend $$ on apps hoping that they’ll do what I think they will.

### 4/5 — Spacing

*2026-01-22*

Please reduce the spacing between items. It's too much, even more than what the Shortcuts app gives you and even that's too much.

### 4/5 — Great tool!

*2024-09-10*

Works well, just wish it had a dynamic color option for icons (black/white depending on device appearance mode), but it makes creating good looking menus much easier and runs quicker than Actions menu! One problem though is creating SF Symbol menu items in actions thru this app introduces a major delay each time (emoji doesn’t have this problem). In my testing loading menu sets is much faster. Also seeing issue with emoji menu in action can’t select an emoji directly, and the symbol menu has no option for background color

### 5/5 — Create Great Looking Menus

*2026-03-04*

This App works with Apple Shortcuts to create nice menus in your scripts. It’s very easy to use and provides great instructions from within the app itself.

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2026-01-22*

Menubox is, on the surface, a simple little app: cute, tidy, and it does exactly what it says on the tin. The kind of thing you download, smile at, and think, “Nice.” Then—without so much as a drumroll—it quietly starts rewriting reality.

I found Menubox while hunting for a way to make my elderly dad’s iPhone life easier (he’s 84, and iOS has a special talent for hiding the exact thing you need in the exact moment you need it). After discovering Shortcuts, I built approximately a million of them to help him do what he actually wants to do. But Shortcuts alone are like having a warehouse full of tools with no labels, no signposts, and a gremlin rearranging everything nightly.

Enter Menubox: the gloriously simple interface that turns all that power into something a human being can actually use.

The real magic here isn’t that it’s complex—it’s that it’s not. Menubox makes it fast to assemble menus, effortless to use, seamless in daily life, and wildly customisable. For my dad, it’s now basically his primary operating system. It’s given him access to things he always had… but could never find or confidently use. Shortcuts does a lot of the heavy lifting, sure—but never underestimate the life-changing impact of an interface that’s clear, friendly, and actually behaves.

Thank you, Menubox. You let me make “iOS: Dad Edition.” ☺️

### 5/5 — Does make a nicer menu easily

*2025-10-14*

Works well, could use some rollover hints as to functions

### 5/5 — Just……….. WOW!

*2025-08-16*

The Snailed it Team has got to be one of those diamonds in the rough…. 🫡

I have not found an app like this since Widgy in 2020. These are the apps that are so underground but SO PRACTICAL and THANK GOODNESS, just like Widgy, extremely seasonably priced and they won’t kill you down the road w a subscription or anything either.

Menu Box, Nautomate, Toolbox Pro…. It is NOT JUST 1 APP

RIP ALEX HAY 🌈

### 5/5 — Good app

Good app for creating vCard menu

## Most praised reviews (4 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A must have for Shortcuts

*2024-10-05*

I love this app. It makes building Shortcuts with menus not only more visually attractive but the ability to embed data in the choices is amazingly useful and saves a lot of IF…OTHERWISE logic in my Shortcuts.

### 5/5 — Great app. Just a few small issues.

*2024-09-27*

Overall, this app is fantastic. Will save me a lot of time when building shortcuts. There are a few issues, but I’m still giving five stars. Great UI, great UX, simple, intuitive, great features. Clearly a developer who cares about the quality of their product—which is greatly appreciated! 🙌🏻

1. Items for which transparent background is selected still show with a background in Shortcuts. I set transparent backgrounds for an SF Symbol and an emoji and both displayed with a white background in Shortcuts

2. Locking any documentation behind a subscription is pretty messed up. Currently, there are three items/pages which require premium to view. Sure, they’re for more advanced features, but still…

3. I went ahead and tried the example shortcuts included in the app just to see how they were, but they didn’t work in Shortcuts. They errored out each time.

### 5/5 — The best app to create and manage your menus!

*2024-09-24*

Menu Box is a great application to manage, import and export your menus.

In addition to being a fluid, intuitive app at a very decent price, the dev team is reactive, which is very cool!

### 5/5 — Great tool!

*2024-09-14*

Updated, figured out how to do the dark/light mode.

It makes creating good looking menus much easier and runs quicker than Actions menu! The only big issue is the slow response when doing quick menus with symbols, but loading menu sets is much faster. Also seeing issue with emoji menu in action can’t select an emoji directly, and the symbol menu has no option for background color (in quick menu actions). Overall this app is completely awesome though.
