## What is MenuCheck?

MenuCheck reads a restaurant menu the way a dietitian would — and tells you,
dish by dish, what fits the conditions you actually live with.

Photograph the menu. Pick your conditions, allergies, and diet. Every item
comes back color-coded, drawn right on the photo: green to order, yellow to
ask about, red to avoid — each with a plain-language reason why.

Built for reading across a dim table without your glasses: large type
throughout, high-contrast colors, full VoiceOver support, and no account to
create.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Point your camera at the menu — MenuCheck detects it and captures on its
own. Or pick a photo you already took.
2. Choose the conditions, allergies, and diets that apply to you.
3. Read the results on the menu image, or as a sorted list.
4. Tap any dish for the full explanation behind its rating.

FEATURES
- Automatic menu detection — no shutter button to find
- Color-coded results overlaid on the menu photo
- List view grouped by safe, caution, and avoid
- Every rating explained, per condition
- Scan history saved on your device and readable offline
- Large type, high contrast, and VoiceOver throughout

PRIVACY
- No account, no sign-in, no personal details
- Menu photos are analyzed and discarded — never stored on our servers
- An anonymous device ID is used only to operate your subscription

SUBSCRIPTION
Your first 3 scans are free — no subscription and no account needed. After
that, MenuCheck Pro unlocks unlimited menu scans and starts with a 7-day
free trial. After the trial it is $7.99 per month or $59.99 per year. Payment is
charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription
renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end
of the current period, and your Apple Account is charged for renewal within
24 hours of the end of that period. Manage or cancel it any time in your
Apple Account settings. Any unused portion of the free trial is forfeited if
you buy a subscription during the trial.

IMPORTANT
MenuCheck offers general dietary information and is not a substitute for
professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It cannot know how a
dish was actually prepared. Always confirm ingredients with restaurant staff
and follow the guidance of your doctor or dietitian — particularly for a
severe food allergy.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.24 — 2026-10-06

Two new options in your profile:

- Irritable Bowel Syndrome, under Conditions. MenuCheck flags common gut triggers (onion, garlic, beans, lentils, lactose-heavy dairy, honey, fried and very spicy dishes) as caution, since triggers vary from person to person.
- Low FODMAP, under Diets. Dishes built on high-FODMAP ingredients are flagged so you can ask before you order.

Also improved: long names in the profile list now wrap cleanly at large text sizes.

### 1.0.23 — 2026-09-24

Diabetes is now four separate conditions, because the advice is not the same
for each: Prediabetes, Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, and Gestational
Diabetes.

- Prediabetes looks for sugar hidden in dishes that read as healthy.
- Type 1 flags dishes that delay absorption and complicate dosing, plus
alcohol, which can cause a delayed low.
- Type 2 adds fried food and processed meat on top of the sugar and
  refined-carb rules.
- Gestational covers blood sugar and pregnancy food safety — raw fish,
deli meat, soft cheese, unpasteurized dairy, and alcohol.

If you already had Diabetes selected, MenuCheck asks which type applies the
next time you open it. Nothing else in your profile changes.

Also fixed: two icons in the welcome screens were invisible on iOS 16 and 17.

### 1.0.22 — 2026-09-04

No release notes.
