Shipping is expensive but no surprise there. Like all proxy purchases. My issue is that after the warehouse received the order I didn’t receive any communication for two weeks. I opened an inquiry and was answered quickly saying it was a glitch and they’d ship my purchase when sorted out. That’s fine but just received a notice my order was cancelled. I did receive a full refund but what a waste of time and effort. I lost any desire to use this app again. ### 2/5 — Great deals, bad login *2026-09-17* I have seen so many great deals on this app. Many figures and anime related things are quite cheap, which is great, but I am unable to login. I’ve used multiple different cards and it’s literally set up to be impossible according to my bank, to be able to order from Mercari Japan. So, you get to look at the rather small selection and if you did get dragged in and see something you want, there’s nothing you can do. They personally broke items in my shipment and will not help unless I submit all types of photos of the original packaging before opening. All things I didn’t know I’d need till opening the disaster they shipped. ### 1/5 — Needs communication features!! *2026-08-13* Since this is an app for users to sell 2nd hand items it seems logical for it to have a comment section like the other mercari so the buyers can price negotiate. Some sellers offer discounts for bundles yet the buyers can’t even comment on the item post for the bundle. Not only that but there’s only one shipping option unfortunately which is expensive even though I live on the coast. The marketplace fees are OUTRAGEOUS, makes me never even consider of buying anything especially with EVEN MORE fees on top of that. The help/contact us sends a would be user through a loop that sends you back to the beginning of your inquiry. I.T. I know their corporate office gotta be really frustrated! It work if you have a card outside of their country. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Amazing! *2026-09-07* There are some reviews complaining about the login and some features but I think you have to understand that this is the “real” mercari, in the sense that you get to explore what they are actually listing in Japan. The American Mercari has always been separate from the original, with listings from Japan very minimal. You’ll have to make a separate account to use this, but it’ll open you to a whole new world of listings! The shipping and customs are unfortunately pricey, but they’ve been giving out a lot of coupons lately which helps out a lot. As for offers/communication with sellers, I think they keep it off to minimize confusion and issues. It sounds a little ironic, especially if you need to ask for more measurements/pictures/etc, but most people have been very detailed in their listings. I’ve bought an item last month and the process went by very smoothly, with it being shipped to me a whole week before the estimated date! ### 5/5 — Pretty easy to use *2026-08-08* I might be the only person in the reviews who genuinely liked this app. Everything was simple and easy to use. My only real complaint is that the search filters can be unreliable. Occasionally, applying filters causes the results to stall, forcing you to refresh the page before they load properly. Aside from that minor frustration, my overall experience has been very positive. I've bought 2 things so far and they've come in about 2 weeks time and packaged nicely. However, it still does have it's problems or new things to navigate unlike regular mercari. I sometimes struggle to search things up (I'm assuming because of how they translate in to Japanese) and shipping was a little confusing to me and didn't update when it should have. For example, I've gotten both of my packages but it only says one has been delivered and hasn't updated since. Overall, I think the app just needs to be worked on and updated some more.
