None of the supposed quick options work. They just dump you on various 3rd party web sites. Finally managed to download both vhdx and iso images, but the vm creation alert won’t allow them to be selected. Save your money. This is not only not ready for prime time, it is effectively a complete scam at this point. **Developer response:** All of these issues have been fixed in the new update. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can’t get it to work and zero support *2024-03-03* It have downloaded the app and then downloaded their VMs and can not get them to work. Submitted tickets for assistance with no acknowledgement or answer. It has been months tried to make my own VMs, not worth it! ### 1/5 — Won’t run Mac OS *2023-10-04* What this is so not worth the price I can’t run macOS the highest OS you can run is windows 8 and it’s very slow and laggy even on the M1 chip ### 1/5 — app doesn’t work as advertised *2023-09-14* This app doesn’t perform as expected. I have attempted to download and install vms from the developers repository of images. I have successfully got none to load. I have played with settings, I have attempted to go back as far as the oldest OS systems available in their repo but have gotten none to successfully load. It is not my hardware, I am using the latest version iPad air with the M1 chip. Very disappointed. ### 1/5 — Useless *2023-08-21* This app doesn't work, period. If you install a Windows 10 ISO (downloaded from MSDN), the installer crashes during the install so hard the VM can't recover. The pre-built images, downloaded from the website, don't work. Well, to be fair they might work if I waited more than the hour I left the thing as it sat there, uselessly spinning its progress wheel (and that's after working through the myriad of errors encountered simply importing the prebuilf image and getting it to run). All in all, this app makes a mockery of the "Professional" in it's title. If you're looking to run ARM Windows 10/11, go over to VMware Fusion or Parallels. If you need (like me) to run x64 Windows for a specific use, buy a 2018 (or earlier) Mac Mini and run VMware on it. Alternatively, buy a cheap PC on eBay. But avoid this software. ### 1/5 — Nonfunctional *2023-08-02* Couldn’t get a functioning VM guest. App is slow and unintuitive with no built-in help or anything. It includes a tutorial which shows how to use the native MacOS version of this program. It's very slow to emulate and not usable at all..... what a waste of money....i can't even reach there support, i sent them a mail for the past 24hours there's no reply.... fake app **Developer response:** Merge VM Pro is build on UTM but, Merge VM Pro is quite different internally. This is allowed because UTM is open source. Merge VM Pro is made similarly to how Debian is Fully Open Source Software (FOSS) and Ubuntu is based on Debian but, Ubuntu is entirely its own thing. And, there's a reason why UTM isn't allowed on the App Store... it doesn't work without a jailbreak. We fixed it so ours runs entirely 100% functional without a jailbreak and without any modification to iOS. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great app , *2023-11-16* Outstanding customer service and support ! I have mediocre computer skill and had this up and running in no time, once the setting were set properly. Once windows loads and updates , It’s almost just as fast as windows laptop with same os. The previous bad reviews for this gentleman should be removed , most likely due to their skill set - Age or attention span . I’m not even using the m1 processor and seems to work just fine! Why? 👍 ### 5/5 — A VM For IPads! *2022-11-13, version 3.2.4* If you are looking for a way to run Virtual Machines on iPads, this does the trick. Keep in mind that iPad OS is locked down so some functions of your virtual os may not work probably. The good part is that the tech support from Merge is incredibly fast and knowledgeable. You can install the normal license on multiple machines for personal use. I am very pleased with my purchase. ### 5/5 — I'm Truly Impressed! *2022-11-13, version 3.2.4* I was scared to spend the momey at first. But having no Virtual Machine software that works in my application other than UTM, which is super slow and unresponsive. Merge VM Pro Emulation is just a bit slower than an actual VM using Intel or AMD VM Hardware, but VERY useable. Thank you for a solution that works for us guys who cannot use VM Hardware! ### 5/5 — So far, so good *2022-02-12, version 2.0.3* I have been using various virtualization/emulation technologies for more than 20 years. Some have been better than others. While this one lacks some features of the "big boys", e.g. snapshots and pausing, It makes up for it in performance. On a new M1 MBP, it is fast. Running Windows 11 for business applications was the reason for purchasing it. It can run Windows in emulation mode, but for truly native performance, installing Windows 11 Arm edition has been amazing. Since boot times are so fast, pausing a VM isn't as big an issue to me. So far, every applications I've needed installs and runs flawlessly. Quickbooks performance is lightyears ahead of the VMWare Fusion install on my last MBP. OSX Monterey runs at near native speeds within Merge VM as well. The VM Wizard makes installing it a breeze. This allows for me to have separate dev environments with little degradation. Cloning a VM is as simple as a right click. A bonus that I haven't seen anywhere else is that they have an IOS version. For fun, I installed Windows 95 on my iPad Pro. It works very well (except that you can't get any programs to install and IE doesn't connect to anything useful). It is fun playing some of the old MS games though. The support from the company has been second to none. Even the CEO has reached out to me. He is very open to discussing ideas and I can't wait to see what they come up with in the future for this product line. If I had any negatives, it is around documentation. There isn't much, not that I've needed any, but the average user might. All in, I'm pleased with this purchase. ### 4/5 — has gotten better *2024-01-01* Has gotten better over the last few months. Windows on mobile devices does work. The gallary templates make things a ton easier. I can't sort out how to get win 11 arm working on ipad pro from a couple of years ago.
