### 5/5 — Well Designed and Super Fun App

*2019-04-08*

Finally a modern app to learn Tigrinya. My son and I have been using this app to learn to read and write Tigrinya. It makes learning Tigrinya so much fun with great audio and interactive learning. Highly Recommend for young kids, teenagers and adults.

### 5/5 — Great tool!!

*2019-04-08, version 1.01*

I downloaded the app a few days ago for myself (33 yrs old female). I speak Tigrinya fluently but I can’t write or read. I’m on the 6th level and already starting to feel confident 🤗.
Thank you so much for creating this app! Can’t wait to share with my friends and family.

### 5/5 — The best app to learn to read & write in Tigrinya.

*2019-04-05*

I have used a few apps to teach my daughters how to read and write in Tigrinya, and Merhaba Tigrinya is by far the best one from its competition. It made learning Tigrinya so easy and fun that my two daughters started practicing without even being asked.
Thank you very much Mr. Bemnet Kibreab for all the hard work you put in to create this app.

### 5/5 — M.Y.Tesfagiorgis

Simply a brilliant user friendly app! I’ve always been able to speak Tigrinya and have a very strong spoken command, I finally I feel I have found the software that will allow me to confidently teach myself to bring my reading and written up to scratch!

Thanks

A very satisfied and excited customer.

### 1/5 — This app is a joke

*2020-07-10*

I bought this app with high excitement.specially when I read reviews which are almost all good reviews I said to my self”this may be the one that I was praying and dreaming for my kids”.unfortunately I am really disappointed by
Everything this app claims to have.
This app “claims”to has five sections.Alphabet,Listening,Reading,Spelling and more section.the only section that I am able to open is the alphabet section ,when you press the alphabets I was expecting to hear how they are pronounced, but they don’t.all the other four sections, they don’t even open at all.
The other joke part of this app is the settings part of this app is designed for mute/unmute only-that’s it.infact it didn’t even work for that purpose.
I wish if they had a money return option.but for all others who are searching a good app ,please don’t waste your money.you will be disappointed.

**Developer response:** Well I am sorry that you are disappointed! The APP has all those sections! You have to complete Alphabet section Level 1, for Listening Section Level 1 to open, once you complete that, Reading Section Level 1 opens etc. if you go to our IG page @merhabatigrinya or email me at
merhabatigrinya@gmail.com I will send you instruction Video! If you want refund email me at that email address as well and I will do my best to send you your money via PayPal, cash app or other methods. https://youtu.be/kCCKmABoBbA this is the YouTube link for the instructional video. Hope you reconsider your review.

### 1/5 — It’s hard for my kid to learn Tigrinya. He needs to make 3 chances on each level

*2020-06-17*

And plus it is glitchy and this is a new phone this is the 4 app on my phone

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review! I don’t understand what you wrote! I am happy to help if you email me at merhabatigrinya@gmail.com.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2020-01-04, version 1.01*

I couldn’t get past level 3 on anything apart from the spelling which stopped at level 2, and the more section is completely broken. Please fix this.

### 1/5 — Where’s the audio?

*2019-10-04*

Love the idea. But can’t get audio to work. :(

**Developer response:** Ring/Silent switch. The switch is on left side of phone. If the switch shows orange, it means your iPhone is in silent mode and you will not hear any sound. So make sure the switch is turned on.

### 1/5 — I am having problems seeing the full version

*2019-05-28*

I just purchased the app for £4.99 and I can not access the full version of the app. I can only access the first button and only the Be bu bi ba bie b bo. What is the problem? I purchased it as soon as I read your interview in Shabait.

**Developer response:** I wish you checked out our Instagram page or emailed us. The way the app works is that you have to complete Level 1 in Alphabet, then Level 1 in Listening will be active. After Level 1 in Listening is complete, Level 1 Reading will be active. After that is completed Level 1 in Spelling will be active. There is video instruction on our Instagram @merhabatigrinya; or email me MerhabaTigrinya@gmail.com for instructions.

### 2/5 — Disappointed

*2019-04-17*

This is not what I thought! You can only go on the alphabet and numbers which are n Tigrinya no translation 🤦‍♀️

**Developer response:** Hi I am not sure what you are having issues with. I really would like to get more details. 1. There are no numbers in the App. The App has several sections: A Section to learn the Alphabet with rich image and audio and puzzle; A Reading section to learn reading also with rich Audio and Images; and A Spelling Section to learn writing with puzzle game, images and audio. The final section with a word game puzzle. Maybe you have not figured out the flow of the App, there is a YouTube instruction that you can see: https://youtu.be/kCCKmABoBbA. Hope you give it Another chance.

### 4/5 — A much needed resource!

*2020-05-06*

This really is an incredible app for all of the reasons other reviewers have shared — I recommend it to everyone as a way to learn to read & write Tigrinya.

The only constructive feedback I have is that once you go through all the lessons once, it’s difficult to repeat them in an organized way. I would love if the app show you which lessons you’ve completed and how many times, and even if you’ve partially completed lessons. This would allow people to repeat lessons in a consistent fashion, which is important for memory retention. (Duolingo is a good example.)

Thank you so much for creating this app and hope we will have the honor of continuing to see it grow and improve!

### 4/5 — my overall assessment

*2019-06-18*

Very well-designed interface and learning structure. The only substantive critique I have is the choice of voice speakers for the app. I expected to hear the voices of native adult speakers of Tigrinya. Instead the peculiar choice to use apparently non-native (Western) Tigrinya-speaking children has resulted in some deficiencies as it relates to pronunciation. (The word “beles” is an example of a word in the app instruction that doesn’t quite hit the native pronunciation spot.) I understand that the creator of the app likely used the voice of children to appeal to a child audience, and there are not many *native* Tigrinya-speaking children in the diaspora to source as voices for apps like this. The good thing about apps is creators can always consider input from customers and revise/improve their app as they deem necessary. In the end, I applaud the creator for producing an app like this when there is such a lack of substantive Tigrinya language resources on the market compared to languages like Arabic and German. That alone deserves huge credit!

**Developer response:** Thank for taking the time to review the App and for your very helpful input! Yes we used an Eritrean child’s for the voice, and I agree that it’s not 100% accurate in places. We tried to supplement it with an adult voice in places that was to much of a discrepancy in the pronunciation. We will continue to improve the app!

### 4/5 — I’ve been waiting for an app like this all my life

### 5/5 — Thank you for creating!

*2022-02-03*

I have utilized it and shared it with parents at the Eritrean Association of Greater Seattle. I work with the students there. I’m constantly looking for tools and resources made by Eritrean developers and authors to share with my team. I would like to meet with you via zoom to learn more about how you created such a cool app! Please let me know.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2021-08-13*

This is a well thought out app and learning journey. Love the experience and even have younger family members that I have gifted this too that are finding the interaction creative and fun. I personally do not read or write in Tigrinya but feel confident I will be once I complete the learning journey.

The app has a map of the letters (fidelet) and breaks down the learning from reading, writing and listening - Fantastic for all types of learners.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2020-12-08*

Thank you for explaining . That’s actually a great way. I just tested and looking forward to having my kids work on this.

Thank you for this wonderful app!!

**Developer response:** Hi email me at merhabatigrinya@gmail.com.

Merhaba Tigrinya App Instructions:

Start on Alphabet Section. The first one is the “be” family or LEVEL 1.
Once you complete the Level 1 Alphabet Section then the Level 1 Listening Section will be active.

Once you pass the Level 1listening Section, the Level 1 Reading Section will be active. And after you pass the Level 1 Reading Section, the Level 1Spelling section will be active.

After you pass the Level 1 spelling section then level 2 of alphabet section will be available which is the “se” family.

That is how the app work. When you have completed 30 sections then the MORE section will be activated.
In summary. Complete Level 1 at each section, then Level 2 will open. If you did not pass level 1 you can’t continue.

### 5/5 — Using during quarantine

It’s a great app. Good use of my day, I’ll repeat again tomorrow. Just wondering about the last section but congratulations on making something so easy to use.

### 5/5 — This is what I needed !!!

*2019-09-04*

Im Eritrean and i always had my problems with the grammar !!! I think a lot of people can relate to that ... and to get to know the grammar or to learn more words there are only this books and apps that are written in Tigrinya so I said to myself I must learn first to read and write so I can learn more words and the grammar .... and i have to say this is the app I was waiting for my whole life !!!!! I’m soooo thankful for helping me and our brothers and sisters !!!! And furthermore It’s like a game !!! It doesn’t feel like a lesson because it’s fun !!! I downloaded it today and I can read a little bit ( I’m on chapter 12 now ) .... I’m just thankful for this app I will recommend it to all my friends that can’t read or write and the funny think is I told my Uber driver ( because he was Eritrean too) that it’s hard to learn that language and he told me about that app .... first I was afraid because I hate to pay for any app ...but every cent was worth it I would say this app worth 17€ !!!! Because it is fun and you learn a lot !!!!! ....

The only thing I would love you to do is !!!
Please do an app for grammar and an other only for vocabulary!!!!!! I will be your first customer !!!!!!

I don’t know what to say !!! Who ever reads this trust me this money you paying for this app is worth it !!!! This app value is even more !!! 1 week playing with this app and you can read books !!!

And to the person that wrote about how to reach the next chapter or letter ... you have to fulfill all the training (reading, puzzle , listening ) with this one letter then when you go back to the alphabets then the next letter is going to be unlocked ;)))

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
