For example, when using Gemini 3.1 Pro, Gemini 1.5 Pro really sometimes responds, instead of Kimi K 2.5, Kimi 1.5 will respond. ### 3/5 — A bit buggy *2026-02-19* The app works well overall, but there are a few issues that need attention. First, there’s a UI bug with the bottom sheet under “Add Files from Vault.” It only dismisses if I tap the top-left corner of the screen. Tapping anywhere else outside the sheet does nothing. It should dismiss when tapping anywhere outside the panel, as standard modal behavior. Second, the app does not accept .swift files for upload. For a tool that supports development workflows and file handling, this is a significant limitation. Swift is a common file type for iOS/macOS developers, and it should be supported. Also, please consider releasing a macOS version. Since the app revolves around file management and productivity, desktop support would significantly improve usability and workflow integration. Even a Catalyst-based version would make a big difference. Looking forward to improvements in future updates. ### 2/5 — App needs improvement *2026-02-15, version 6.1.6* The product itself is phenomenal (Text based only). The feature to create projects, along with the Chrome Extension, and create customised bots, makes Merlin AI an all-rounded tool to summarise, automate, and increase productivity. However, the mobile app makes no justice to it. As it seems like a watered down version of Merlin, with some bugs that make the process of creating a project somewhat difficult. It also lacks the functionality to improve prompts or pin models to the top of the list. It it were as similar as the web version, I am sure more people would be willing to give it a try. As an alternative, I added a quick access to the web version in the Home Screen with safari. ### 2/5 — Too slow *2025-12-01, version 6.1.3* I'm a Pro user on their top tier plan. I don't overuse Merlin.ai. And it's still slow. In fact, I barely use my paid account as Grok (until recently but that's related to the new expert mode) and Perplexity are so much faster when used directly. Or Cursor for coding. These AI piggyback services, especially Merlin, are very bad value if you value your time. It's impossible to get into a flow with such laggy responses. ### 3/5 — Wake-up! Far from great *2025-09-18* I’m a pro subscriber of Merlin, & keep waiting for the uncertainty & magic. Please consider a serious upgrade or I will resign soon. - Have you heard about spinning wheel or the rolling beach balloon in order to indicate users that the app is somehow running? Please update ASAP a visual feedback to convey a running process. - the voice-over reading texts is awkward & on purpose low-tech. We might find better voices app easily on any other competitors AI / chat apps. please upgrade with a proper Voice processing it’s old tech already. - Why wouldn’t you consider a serious upgrade regarding the reader’s voice quality? - Have you tested notorious Perplexity.ai? Please compare & upgrade your app in consequence. ### 4/5 — Simply brilliant but rough around the edges. *2025-09-12, version 6.1.3* Great app with a lot of potential & some small bugs I’ve noticed. The deep research is extremely temperamental to the point of not functioning, each query will count towards the limit, however it’s hit and miss whether the function gets triggered by the AI or if simply outputs the initial step to take as a semi-garbled reply. As for the Projects tool, this is indeed a highlight but a major issue is the UI overlapping and the inability to paste into the custom instructions or project knowledge section when creating a new project. These would be a non issue if the text box was workable, but it can’t even have more than one paragraph without resorting to spamming space bar to create and organise between sentences when creating list based instructions. It would also be handy if there was an option to pick which model it defaults to for new chats. Even better if you can allow customising models to tailor for specific tasks beyond what is available within the projects tool. ### 2/5 — New Credit Limit *2025-08-10, version 6.1.1* The new limit is ridiculous, with an ‘unlimited plan’ I’m stuck without any credits left offer half a month. No idea or response why this was change recently. ### 2/5 — Merlin AI ‘was’ my guy! This nifty little app ‘was’ my go to… *2025-06-10* Merlin AI ‘WAS’ MY ACE BOON COON. . I knew when i needed something done quick and efficiently good ole Merlin was the man. .. ‘WAS’ being the operative word. This new & ‘exciting’, much needed update F’d that all up and i’m not giving anyone the satisfaction of knowing what that is so i’m NOT GOING into specifics but in my opinion, Merlin AI engineers and the like made it worse..Inefficient. . . On the decline . . How low can you go? Peace out Merlin AI— buh bye. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — I don’t recommend *2026-03-24* Don’t use this app I have been using this app for a while because I was having problems with Gemini and ChatGPT because of their stupid limits on generating images of your own photos and that is where I found out about this app so I started using it and now i keep getting errors telling me that now I have to get a stupid pro plan now because text to image is now no longer available with the original plan and that I would have to use a pro plan which is completely BS ### 1/5 — Slow rarely works *2026-01-25* Would not buy again, feels like worst au bundle ### 1/5 — Great idea if they were honest *2026-01-08, version 6.1.5* The models listed aren’t the models used when you prompt. Like when you choose Claude Opus 4.5 it’s using a combination or Hiaku and Sonnet. You can test this yourself by giving the real Claude and the Fake Merlin Claude the same prompts to see the massive difference. ### 1/5 — Slow to use *2025-12-07* Merlin ai performance is quite disappointing. Uploading images and other files is often buggy, and the technical department takes too long to fix reported issues. Despite contacting support, the iOS app remains full of strange glitches. Additionally, the absence of a native macOS app is a significant drawback. It's a nice concept, but it's certainly not a replacement for more stable applications. ### 1/5 — Bait and switch *2025-10-20, version 6.1.3* This app is basically a scam and should be removed from the app store. It’s so slow, using it is like watching grass grow. It’s completely useless. It exemplifies token arbitrage at its worst. ### 1/5 — They need to improve their help systems. It needs immediate attention as it is making my system insecure ### 1/5 — App does not compare *2025-08-30* The app does not compare to the Original ChatGPT app, which is disappointing. Queries take a lot longer and are not as transparent, the browser version is better you can follow how the AI processes a prompt. Maybe this feature could be included in future development of the app. The second most annoying thing is the voice recognition is not as advanced as on ChatGPT‘s original app. On ChatGPT I can speak into my mic in any language and the results in detecting what I said are almost 100%. This is also not a hardware issue since going straight to the other AI I get my answer almost instantly. I would avoid this app/AI if you are looking to utilize the potential of AI. Also, I problem with this subscription is with cancellation. They make it very difficult to cancel and have to write the company to refund (which they do not put their support email on their website), then the next step is the company will read what your write and you MIGHT get a refund. It’s not a for sure thing. So, stay away if you value your time and money! ### 1/5 — Merlin good but need improvement *2025-05-28, version 6.0.3* There is no shortcut for this app, which makes it difficult to use. Every time we want to use it, we have to open the app manually.
