Mersenne is wonderful for bright bells, plucks and even some darker deep percussive sounds that are ideal for sequencing and arps. To top it all off-Midi learn and Auv3 and IAA support are included. I’ve been an IceGear fan since Cassini was my very first iOS synth and they still continue to deliver solid and unique products. Well worth your money. ### 5/5 — Great synth! *2018-01-12* One of my favorite iOS synths. Being able to import third party sounds, along with the included great sounds, really sets this apart from other iOS offerings. The best part of this synth, however, is how responsiveness of the developer! Bugs are squashed very quickly with timely updates. Thank you for AUv3! ### 5/5 — Thanks for AU support! *2017-06-29* This is one of my most favorite iPad synths. When I saw Laplace get AU3 support, I was hopeful Mersenne would as well. Now that time's here and I just MIDI sequenced a quick track with it in GarageBand. The AU layout is good and scrolls smoothly to see everything. All of the effects parameters are exposed, too. Under IOS 9, it crashes intermittently without running other synth/audio apps. The arpeggiator is not very well documented and is a bit confusing to use. Fix the stability and the arpeggiator documentation and this becomes as 5-star app ### 3/5 — Great sounds, weak arpeggiator *2016-02-25* This is a nice synth and capable of producing interesting and useful sounds. I’m taking away a couple stars because I am disappointed that very skillful developers are putting such dumbed down and limited sequencers in their products. There are other meters besides 4/4 and other ways to divide a beat besides 16th notes. ### 4/5 — Un peu de fraîcheur... *2018-07-16* Aujourd'hui j'ai la sensation que tous les synthés sur iOS se ressemblent...mais pas Mersenne ni ses "frères" programmés par les mêmes devs. (Cassini, Laplace, Lorentz). Thanks in advances. ### 4/5 — Link has strange property *2017-01-30* Love all iceworks apps. I have all the recent Link-enabled ones and they are always the first ones I open during a session. For some reason, when the apps join the network they interrupt the tempo of the session first instead of looking at what the current tempo is first and changing to that. This can really jumble what would otherwise be a seamless and enjoyable experience. All the synths sound great and I love the arp and hold buttons. I also love that they have standard midi functionality. ### 4/5 — Quasimodo's favourite app! *2017-01-12* The bells, the bells.... If you like bell sounds, then this app is the new pretender. Very slick, single screen interface, and lovely variable sounds...if you like bells. It will be a 5 star app when the developers add more variety (there are not that many presets) allow the app to save/ load its last settings, and (across their whole range) wake up to Ableton Link. Nic ### 4/5 — Wonderful and unique *2017-01-05* I like how this FM+Resonator synth focuses on a particular sound. It sounds a lot like some of the instruments in a Gamelan ensemble. When combined with the arpeggiator and delay it's easy and fun to compose a sort of modern synthesized version of a Gamelan. That's mainly what I use it for, and because I have an affection for Gamelan music, this synth brings a smile to my face when working with it. Mersenne's MIDI implementation is excellent. The controls are very functional and easy to use. The two Tone generators, the Noise generator, Resonator, drive and delay, chorus and reverb are logically laid out and instantly useable. The arpeggiator is especially powerful, letting you design your own patterns for saving and recalling. The minimalistic elegance in Mersenne's design is apparent and well suited to the sounds this synth produces. The single-mindedness of Mersenne's sound is very much a plus in this case. Because Mersenne is so good at getting that Gamelan type sound, including different tuning systems, especially Far East tunings would be an excellent addition to this synth and would qualify it for a legitimate 5 star rating. I can manipulate the detuning, glide and other parameters to get a slightly faux eastern sound, but that's not the same as an authentic Gamelan tuning. Overall one of the best and most enjoyable synths of 2016. ### 4/5 — Great Specialty FM Synth *2016-07-11* Mersenne is a percussion synth that is capable of much more than FM drum sounds. It can create capable chimes and bells, metallic sounds and even other more traditional synth sounds. All of the sounds tend to be a bit dirty and thin. The engine is quite similar to Laplace, their resonator synth with a different interface. This guy is “Magnifico” 🙏🏼. Iceworks forever! ### 5/5 — great synth for mac and ios *2023-05-19* i have mersenne for the ipad, but on my mac i have to pay again for it.. laplace and lorenz no problem, i have installed them without paying again edit: thank you for your hint @support, it worked and i could install it on my mac without paying again! **Developer response:** I apologize for any confusion or frustration this issue may have caused you. Firstly, if you have already purchased the app on your iOS device, you should not have to purchase it again on your Mac. The app should be available for free download on your Mac as well. Secondly, the issue you have experienced is due to a bug in the App Store's display, and if you proceed with the download process, you should ultimately be able to download the app for free. Lastly, I want to clarify that the issue lies with the App Store, and as a developer, I am unable to solve any issues related to the App Store. If you have any further questions or concerns, I recommend contacting Apple support for assistance. Sounds like heaven, has an ergonomic lay out on ipad and is still outstandingly comfortable on a tiny iphone 5c, uses so little hardware, needs only 7mo space, and it has all compatibilities with other apps you could wish for... A real bargain for the price! Get it now! ### 5/5 — Great sister synth to Laplace *2018-12-17* I return to this synthesizer app, regularly, because it does what music apps are supposed to do, a unique sound with a simple interface. Laplace is my favorite of the ice works apps, but this is a great companion/expansion to Laplace, especially for the billed use, tuned percussion. I do like Laplace better for strings and plucks and keys. This one is really fun to play with a drum pad midi controller (tuned to a scale, if you like) for marimba, and bell like sounds. ### 5/5 — Awesome! *2018-06-28* I wish they made vst versions... this is a great synth!
