### 4/5 — Work on the map feature

*2026-09-06, version 2026.5.1*

Great app but the potential to make a travel/friend discovery companion is super high. Bump/Mozi do it, but you have the social graph and they dont. Map is Currently completely unusable (can’t even tell which cities people on the map are in) and I don’t get notifications when someone is traveling.

### 2/5 — Good idea, lacking execution

*2026-06-04, version 2026.4*

Consistently riddled with bugs (when typing notes, and most recently logging in has simply stopped working)

### 4/5 — Good flow…

*2026-05-14, version 2026.4*

Started using this for the past one week and it is quite engaging, builds into my daily work routine and flow. This is really versatile. There are some minor quirks that needs learning or sometime when the app just shuts down (disappears) when for example updating birth date for a contact on my iPhone.

### 2/5 — Not as good as you’d hope.

*2026-01-22, version 2026.1.1*

Chat GPT said clay was good. I thought I did enough research but now I’m using the app and none of my notes for my contacts are there! Even the Nexus feature for individual contacts isn’t working. I click it and nothing happens. When I use the Nexus feature (not linked to specific contact) it’ll still tell me about my notes but that’s so inconvenient. The app is not due for an update and the Nexus assures me it’s just a UI bug… you also can’t delete contacts just archive them. I just feel like I might as well keep notes on my contact library. I would get a refund if I could. I wish I never bought the year subscription $120 down the drain. By the way- in my opinion the 5 star reviews seem like bots- or they had personal interest in a good review…

### 2/5 — Confusing, not very useful

*2025-10-29, version 2025.11*

Requires too many permissions for not enough accuracy / value overall

### 1/5 — Wrong Focus on Professional

*2025-05-12, version 2025.7.1*

Context: I’m a fractional CTO. I sit over several large Dynamics houses. I’d never consider clay on par. I’d happily shell out a lot for a rock solid personal CRM, but I see a product team incorrectly thinking they could eat up the lower end of the business market.

Stay in your lane

### 1/5 — I should’ve listened to reviews… (don’t fall for it)

*2025-04-25, version 2025.5.6*

The whole process felt skep, first they get you to do free trial for yearly, you click monthly, no option without card, you do free trial, immediate charge to your credit card somehow. Then they automatically send 5 of your contacts a referral email if you click continue without closing out the 5 contacts they want to refer for you… the whole process again was just not good, I felt the opposite of what one trying to manage too many relationships falling apart would want. I canceled free trial 5 minutes after realizing the platform was wack. but I still have a $20+ charge on my card

### 2/5 — It’s honestly shocking how bad the AI is

*2025-04-25, version 2.18.1*

I’m continuing to pay for this because it integrates with Notion. If it didn’t I’d have given up on it. Their CS rep was not helpful at all. I often have more success finding contacts by manual search or through Mac Contacts. The Nexus AI is like really really bad. It’s 2025. What’s going on over there? Not trying to be a jerk but I’m honestly flabbergasted at how often I have to figure things things manually. The interface is… fine? I guess? I don’t find it to be particularly intuitive but I’m willing to take that with a grain of salt as it may be subjective. The app and service has a great deal of promise. I’m holding out hope it’ll get better and I can make it my primary jump point to contact folks in my network.

### 2/5 — Same as others — needs more core product focus

*2025-04-19, version 2025.5.5*

Core product is getting better but still buggy, slow to load, handles merging contacts poorly (eg often I have a contact in iMessage that doesn’t show up in clay app to merge with LinkedIn etc, despite being visible in Contacts iOS app under “Clay”)

Feels like product team is more concerned with their professional portfolios than users needs

Want to pay for this but it’s not there yet… and it’s been forever

### 2/5 — Concept is good but

*2025-04-15, version 2025.5.5*

The features don’t all work right.

### 1/5 — Forces a free trial with credit card on file when creating an account

*2025-04-08, version 2025.5.4*

I don’t want to start a free trial and don’t want to have a credit card saved on file. I looked at your pricing page online and the free plan is ample for my needs. Please stop forcing this on users. I deleted the before even using it because of this. It doesn’t matter if I can cancel the trial anytime—shame on you for forcing this onto your users. Uninstalled until they change this.

### 1/5 — Fraudulent billing

*2025-03-27, version 2025.5.2*

Even after canceling and deleting my account, they continue to charge my card. I am notifying my bank and asking my lawyer to draft a letter.

This is disgraceful.

### 1/5 — Fraudulent

*2025-02-25, version 2025.4*

This app is being pushed by spammers and hackers from India. Don’t use it!

### 1/5 — extremely bad contact import

*2025-02-15, version 2025.3.1*

not usable contact data import, nearly no data fields from my Google conact list are imported, very, very bad made!

### 1/5 — I don’t blame the developers… not sure how you make this work.

*2025-02-07, version 2.18.1*

The intent is there, but the execution is off. I have too many contacts these days to be able to keep track of all of them or get suggestions about contacting another person that day.

Between LinkedIn, emails, meetings, texts, podcast appearances, dates I’ve been on, countries I’ve visited, places I’ve lived… and the fact that I don’t really care for people in general… this app is overwhelmed and it’s overwhelming me. This could probably work well for someone that lives a pretty normal life and it’s so ADHD. It’s a nightmare for me.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Confusing

*2026-08-22, version 2026.5.1*

I didnt really get the point of what i could do

### 1/5 — Free version needs a credit card?!

*2026-04-09, version 2026.3.2*

I’d use the app if I wasn’t forced to add a credit card to use the free version… I’m more than willing to pay for a subscription if I like it (and it looks like I’d like it), but I’m not giving my credit card to use a free version of an app! lol

### 1/5 — Worst contact management ever

*2026-01-16, version 2.18.21*

I am so frustrated that I have just spent days organizing my contacts, and it doesn’t even properly remember who is archived, it hasn’t auto enriched anyones information, it lacks the ability to detect fuzzy duplicates. What a waste of my time, and money - I can’t believe you are charging what you are for this absolute piece of garbage. I really wish I could get back my lost time. Can hardly do even the most basic of what it claims.

### 1/5 — Paywall upon installation

*2025-12-22, version 2025.13*

Makes you pay first sadly

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-12-04, version 2025.12.3*

Program provide a hunny pot with the contact, that didn’t exist in the project. Add “silent” subscription that wasn’t cancelled after deleting the account. Be carefully

### 1/5 — Complete Scam!

*2025-11-11, version 2025.12.1*

They ask you to put your credit card information before seeing the platform. Then they as you to upload your data BEFORE seeing the platform! And even to unsubscribe or to delete your account you MUST give them your data because otherwise you won’t get into the dashboard! I have written them an unsubscribe email and didn’t receive any response either!

### 1/5 — Could Not Start Trial

*2025-10-17, version 2.18.19*

I attempted to log into the App to start the trial to test the product but sadly I was unable to even get past the set-up page for the trial subscription.

Very disappointed.

### 1/5 — Not for me, don’t need CRM app in my personal accounts

*2025-08-31, version 2025.9*

Super annoying. I just want to manually enter data, am not looking for an app to reach into my contacts or social media. Notifications random and annoying. Not for me.

### 1/5 — Misleading pricing info

*2025-08-07, version 2025.8.1*

Was interested in the free tier, the app still asks for a credit card. Fine. It automatically subscribes me to the payed version for a limited time trial. Not what I want but fine. Then I can’t downgrade. Reading the documentation. The info seems outdated. Besides if I need to read documentation for something that should be obvious then this app looks like a waste of time.
Wrote to customer support but frankly it feels like closing the account.

### 1/5 — Scraping Data

*2025-07-06, version 2025.7.6*

As a default, Clay tries to use my personal contact info to get more users on Clay through their “referral” emails. Total invasion of privacy and taking advantage of people who just want to get the app setup. I lost trust and cancelled immediately. Who knows how else they use my data

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Needed this a long time ago!

*2026-07-17, version 2026.4.1*

First CRM for normal people

### 5/5 — Home Screen worthy rolodex

*2026-05-12, version 2.20.1*

Use it every week, a super charged rolodex for me to stay on top of updates and reminders within my network

### 5/5 — Must have modern rolodex

*2025-07-04, version 2025.7.6*

Fantastic app to stay up to date on my personal and professional network. Permanently on my Home Screen and I use it at every event or work function

### 5/5 — Single handedly the best personal CRM

*2025-05-24, version 2025.7.1*

LOVE THIS APP. Such a powerful tool and helps me both personally and professionally manage relationships, check in with colleagues/friends, and stay updated on what people in my contacts are up to. Would be much harder to do all of this without this app.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2025-02-25, version 2025.4*

Love this app. Used it for over a year. Many people have promised a ‘personal CRM’ but not delivered. This is great, and getting better. (Devs: Would like ability to it to feed Zapier out rather than just in!)

### 5/5 — I’m leaving HubSpot

*2024-11-28, version 2024.20.1*

Clay is the CRM I’ve been looking for. Easy integration with all my networking apps (except instagram), clean easy to use interface, direct linking to multiple contact points. I’m leaving HubSpot!

### 5/5 — Solid App

*2024-11-26, version 2.17.16*

I’ve been using this for almost 3 years, since it was in beta. It’s constantly getting better and makes it easy for me to see a full picture of my network and relationships.

### 5/5 — Great

*2024-11-04, version 2.17.16*

Finally switched over from Contacts+ and happy so far. beautiful app with keyboard shortcuts, fast search, and responsive team who responds to feature ideas. iOS app has good widgets and Shortcuts support too, so feels very native

### 5/5 — Adding great new features, responsive support!

*2024-09-23, version 2024.18*

You know you have a good app when you get an annual subscription reminder and you are excited to pay it because of the value that it brings to you. I thought the cost was a bit high last year when signing up but this year, I’ve been really impressed with the speed of development and adding new features that are impactful. I’m also a big fan of their support. I’ve always gotten thoughtful responses. If you want to be more intentional with your relationships, I recommend checking out Clay!
