As I write the price list shows a full price lower than a yearly subscription price. There is no mention of the life time option. According to the (new) forum existing users will not receive future updates unless they move to the subscription model or the lifetime option. Its not clear what you are entitled to with a Pro purchase made today. The app and its associated server download may not have a reputation for reliable robust operation … you can look at the version history with the developer comments and/or the old and new forums and form your own opinion. But there are several bugs, which can be worked around, but they shouldn’t exist. Current build is broke on windows machines so unable to use. ### 4/5 — Very solid app, recommended. *2023-07-07* I’ve been using this for a couple of months. I use it as a shortcut keyboard for Bentley Microstation. And it’s super useful. I appreciate the way you can switch scenes. I do find that I have to restart the MetaGrid server and then kick out and restart the app when I set up in the morning. I’m connecting through usb because I’m on a vpn, so the wireless connection doesn’t seem to be an option. I’m on windows 10 on the computer. Still it’s a useful product, and I’m setting up other applications in it. I was considering buying a function keyboard, but this has filled the need. ### 5/5 — Outstanding! *2023-03-03* Outstanding. I appreciate the many Cubase commands already built in, and that I can add my own custom key commands and icons. Metagrid pro does exactly what I need it to do. Amazing app. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — I retract everything i say about this app *2026-04-09, version 1.6.19* PC USER BE WARNED… This app always lags behind the Apple Version. The price structure is terrible. It’s a hit and run app for PC users. You get hit with a large bill to use the app yet for PC users it’s awful to use. And pls do not listen to anyone when you are told to run MetaServer app as an admin… once you do so every app launched from meta grid will be run with admin rights on your PC.. I’ve followed this dev for a long while now and there isn’t any real interest in development for PC user. This is why i call this app hit and run! Restarting has no effect. The Dorico page is not good..other than being able to select the type of note most other commands don’t work. Asked for a refund which was denied. ### 1/5 — Metagrid Pro cannot connect to Mac, Metagrid can; User Forums for help are down (403 Forbidden) *2022-06-29* I can connect to my Mac from an iPad Pro via the older Metagrid, BUT NOT with Metagrid Pro. When I scan the computer QR Code in Metaserver (3.1.0), it creates an entry with the WiFi symbol, but says it cannot find the Mac computer. Your user forums are down (403 Forbidden), so I have nowhere to go for help, as you don’t have an email for customer questions. This issue may be simple, but without a forum to ask them & get them resolved, my purchase of this product (I bought the In-App Pro features for $29.99) have been wasted now. Very disappointed with this blocking issue… ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Can’t work without it *2026-06-18* This app is so ingrained with my workflow that I grind to a halt when I don’t have it. ### 5/5 — Best Controller App Out There *2026-06-03* If you’re looking for a controller app for your Mac, this is the best one. I’ve tried them all in depth and MGP really doesn’t have any competition at this point. You can set up complete control of any app on your Mac and completely customize your work interface. Make it as simple or complex as you want. And it completely interactive and follows everything you do on your Mac in real-time, instantaneously, even switching through bunches of apps, windows and utilities. It follows right along based on how you set it up. If you pair this app with Keyboard Maestro, there really isn’t anything you can’t automate on your Mac. For people who’ve used or are using apps like StreamDeck, SoundFlow, Lemur or Touch OSC, MGP is the next level above those. Think of being able to take the functionality of those apps and then customize, scale, and modify anything and everything about your controller so it’s exactly the way YOU want it to be. The sky’s the limit. Plus you don’t have buy expensive subscriptions or extra hardware to get started. This app has fundamentally changed the way I work and has does the same for every person I’ve turned on to it. If you’ve tried it in the past and got put off by the setup or instability, all of that has been fixed. Avoid this app. *2024-07-03* An update caused MetaGrid Pro to crash when opening. Had to reinstall and lost all of my custom grids. I use it for Cubase and it really does help simplify tasks and speedup workflow. You can create custom buttons or use what is given. Even just a few custom buttons makes this app worthwhile, and at the price, its a no brainer. I was able to connect to my wired PC while using the app on my ipad wirelessly. You can get incredibly complex with this app, but with that, does come a learning curve. But it is not too difficult. Highly recommended. I use it to control Cubase and it's made my workflow significantly more efficient and streamlined. As one who is not super techy, I very much appreciate the fact that I don't have to scour through the depths of the Cubase files to set it all up. It just works. The MIDI and DAW Setup Guide is ENORMOUSLY helpful. I would've had a very difficult time setting up MetaGrid without it.
