## What is Metal Detector?

Metal Detector is an app that will become indispensable in finding metal objects nearby: lost keys, coins, wires in walls, etc. The app detects metal objects by measuring the magnetic field level as it gets closer or farther from magnetic metals (e.g, iron, nickel, steel and alloys).

A magnetic field is measured with the magnetic sensor built into your smartphone. Please note that the app will not detect silver, gold and copper coins since they have no magnetic field.

The app also has a set of basic tools including a virtual tape measure, ruler, protractor and level tool.

I think it uses the wireless charging thing in the phone, but I’m very impressed. It won’t work as well as an actual metal detector, obviously, but if you turn up the sensitivity if you aren’t around a lot of metal and turn it down if you are, you’ll be fine. FYI once it finds something, you have to kind of move very slowly to find the precise location, as it has some kind of slight delay. Also, when you pull away from the location that the app says the metal is, turn the scanner off then back on before you use again. I found it goes kind of unpredictably haywire once it goes off for a couple of seconds, which can be mitigated by turning the scanner off and on. It’s a 5 star for an app, but compared to a real metal scanner it’s closer to a 3 star. It gets the job done and genuinely impressed me. Hope this helps anyone. It helped me determine whether the stud in my room was wood or metal.

this seemed like a fine app, but it didn’t help with finding studs, which was what I needed. the problem is that i couldn’t find an option to cancel my “subscription” in the app - sent them an email, hope that works!

It is making same noise all over wall

In your situation, we advise you to adjust the Metal Detector sensitivity slider to medium or maximum. Next, try turning on the Metal Detector away from the wall you are measuring and gradually bring your device closer to the wall. Metal Detector will respond to all magnetic metals.

Does not work at all for the metal detector. I tested on a key would not detect with the phone on top of it.

Once the metal detector identifies magnetic metals, you'll notice an intensified sound, accompanied by the columns on the display turning red.
