## What is metículo?

The Spanish in Spain isn't the Spanish from your course. Tío means uncle — and also "dude." Currar means "to work." Just don't say it in a job interview.

metículo is a Spain Spanish dictionary that tells you what a word means and how it lands: casual, slang, rude, old-fashioned, or not said in Spain at all. It remembers what you looked up and brings it back before you forget.

GET THE WORD WITHOUT LEAVING THE PAGE
• Photograph a page of a paper book — the text is recognized right on your iPhone.
• Share text from Apple Books, Safari and other apps.
• Or just type it.

SEE HOW IT'S REALLY USED
• Every meaning listed separately, marked where it applies: colloquial, slang, rude, childish, literary, dated.
• Flags meanings used in Latin America, not Spain — so you don't ask for a carro in Madrid.
• How often a word is actually used, its gender and, where known, its origin.
• More than 100,000 entries, built around the Spanish of Spain.

KEEP IT
• Words you look up come back just before you'd forget them (spaced repetition).
• A word-of-the-hour widget on your Home Screen.
• Your library syncs through your own iCloud and can be exported at any time.

OFFLINE AND PRIVATE
The whole dictionary lives on your iPhone, so it works on a plane, a train or the metro with no connection. Pages you photograph and text you share are processed on your iPhone. Only your word library syncs, through your own iCloud. No sign-up, no ads.

FREE AND PAID
Everything is open for your first 14 days. After that you can keep up to 150 words for free. Nothing is charged and nothing renews when the 14 days end.

When you reach 150 words, nothing is locked: review, search, lists, the widget and export keep working — you just can't add new words. metículo unlimited removes the limit, as a yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. The dictionary is updated every three months, and every update is included.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. metículo unlimited (yearly) renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.0.1 — 2026-10-27

• After you add a big batch of words, the library tells you honestly when they will reach your quiz.
• Coming back after a break: today's quiz says so, and the streak tile keeps your record.
• A word card opened from a chapter's feed now takes half the screen, so the text stays in view.
• Sharing from other apps: long texts are lighter and steadier, words keep the book's title, and tapping a dash, number or punctuation mark no longer makes an empty word.
• Swipe from the left edge goes back on every screen.
• Better layouts with large text and the keyboard up.
• Fixes for VoiceOver and for saving the streak card to Photos.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-19
