### 2/5 — No apply pay have to enter so much stuff manually it’s a pain

*2026-06-10, version 4.0.7*

Just Apple Pay

### 2/5 — Bikes are gross

*2026-04-19, version 4.0.6*

You guys should have wipes on every station. All the bikes were gross and handles sticky

### 1/5 — Terrible just terrible

*2025-08-16, version 4.0.5*

Wrong location on bike after scanning the QR code on the bike. Was in ocean front and somehow downtown was selected. Asked to either end the trip or lock the bike from customer service and they were of no help. Told me I have to go to the pace to inform them that the bike is still there when im 3 miles away. Even sent a pic of where I was and proof of location and they still wouldn’t help lock the bike. Terrible just terrible service.

### 1/5 — The worst

*2025-06-29, version 4.0.5*

You have the worst vehicles of its kind.

### 1/5 — terrible

*2025-04-07, version 4.0.3*

app crashes every time. it's a coin toss if the stations are in service. fix your app!!!

### 1/5 — Weren’t being helpful

*2024-11-02, version 3.1.3*

I tried to close my account since I couldn’t find a missing bike or returning it. I just don’t think it’s a good idea to use the Bike Share in Los Angeles. Please be careful with using this app.

### 1/5 — Account unexpectedly locked out

*2024-10-15*

Everything went well until I couldn't log in to my account, saying, “Invalid login. Please try again.” I tried resetting my password, but they told me to contact customer service and said there was nothing they could do! Please fix the issue LA Metro Bike Service!

### 2/5 — So buggy

*2024-09-22, version 3.1.2*

It’s such an unreliable buggy app

### 1/5 — All the bad reviews are 100% accurate

*2024-08-15, version 3.1.2*

I can’t even explain the problems with the bike share/LA metro ****show system I’ve been having. As much as I want to use the metro trains and bikes, the system is too dysfunctional for me to wrestle with.

### 1/5 — Avoid at all costs

*2024-07-30*

Took a trip with metro bike share, and returned the bike at the dock. The bike locked into the dock, but did not beep. Obviously I couldn’t get the bike back out, and I couldn’t rent another one because the app thought I still had a bike rented. No one responded to the phone, email, nor text that I sent to metro. I’m still being charged for this ride as we speak with no recourse - I can’t get in contact with anyone. Thank god for some kind strangers, otherwise I’d be stranded miles from home

Just buy a bike, no one cares enough about this service to make it functional or safe.

### 4/5 — Electric

*2024-05-17, version 3.1.0*

This is an amazing city service but needs more electric bikes rather than manual bikes due to hills

### 1/5 — Scammers

*2024-04-24, version 3.0.1*

in Earth Day they said the road is gonna be free for 30 minutes. I took the bike for 15 minutes or 14 something like that and they charged me for the whole trip and they was even asking me and they return the bike before the time ends by 5

### 1/5 — Charged 4.5$ for not using it.

*2024-04-19*

I used it the day before yesterday bought 5$ pass, used 75 minutes in total, today they changed me 4.5$more for no reason. I need my money back,do not link your bank account to these apps.

### 1/5 — TAP integration STILL broken

*2024-03-08, version 3.0.1*

Metro Bike Share does not work with TAP accounts. Wasted my time loading a tap card and trying to log in only to give up and being out a decent amount of money.

### 1/5 — Why did I get charged a “usage fee”

*2023-09-08, version 2.8.0*

?!??!

### 3/5 — Good if you only need one trip

*2023-08-13*

Bike will regularly not register as returned - which support will eventually fix but it could take up to a few hours. You can’t unlock a new bike until they fix the problem so if you were planning to take one home, now you’re stranded. Phone number for support doesn’t actually connect you to anyone and the email doesn’t even work.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — scam

*2026-06-12, version 4.0.7*

they charged us more

### 1/5 — Didn’t let me end ride

*2026-05-19*

I only rented out the bike for 30 minutes but for some reason it didn’t let me end ride so the timer is STILL GOING I do not recommend went from 30 minutes to 2 whole days they still haven’t fixed it and when I tried to report it in the app it didn’t accept my report

### 1/5 — Paid but nothing get

*2026-05-16*

i sign up though the app, and paid $1.75, but nothings happen, the app said my login password is wrong, but i can't reset my password, i can't take the bike and i can't do anything. The text and email support in the app is fail! No support at all! Is it a scam?!

### 1/5 — Bad app

*2026-04-09, version 4.0.6*

Cant even end my ride you should make “end” button, your stations are not working sometimes

### 1/5 — Do not rely on this as transport

*2025-11-10*

The app does not recognize when I return a bike. Not only does this mean that my tab keeps running for hours on end, but I can’t rent another bike out until the issue is resolved. The support team has VERY limited hours, and the in-app report feature simply does not work, meaning that I’m now stranded and have to take a $50 uber. This is seriously screwed up. Update: due to this chronic and yet-unaddressed issue, I have had multiple deeply unpleasant encounters with the poorly trained, rude, and emotional support team. I’ve learned that this “service” is run by a contractor called Bicycle Transit Systems. Bad customer service can be tolerated if the service itself is functional and vise versa, but in this case, both are seriously flawed.

### 1/5 — Poor locking mechanisms

*2025-09-19, version 4.0.5*

Bike sometimes doesn't register as returned and you're on the hook for $2500.

### 1/5 — Fire the whole team

*2025-09-19, version 4.0.5*

Such an unreliable system. Docked a bike but it wouldn’t register as returned.

### 1/5 — Do not rely on this as transport

*2025-09-13*

### 1/5 — Payment never works

*2025-09-12, version 4.0.5*

An error occured processing your payment information. Please confirm your information and try again.
Useless.

### 1/5 — Constant logouts; login latency

*2025-09-09*

The app regularly logs me out (at least once a month). Which I’m okay with… but the problem is that logging back in doesn’t work half the time. Clicking login with the correct password seems to hang for a while but it doesn’t indicate to you so (latency issues?). Which is confusing since it makes you think you forgot your password, prompting you to go through that flow (even though you inputted the correct password). The app should display a loading icon to indicate to you that the login has latency issues, so that the user properly waits. Because of this, I have wasted a lot of money calling Rideshares to get to work, only to realize the app logs you in after some time (I checked after 10 minutes)

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2025-10-15*

Amazing app and the best bike share I’ve ever used in north America

### 5/5 — Back

*2025-03-16*

Is still on, so I am worried that the trip hasn’t ended

### 5/5 — Got the hang of it and going great

*2024-10-05*

The first couple rides I had some issues parking the bike back in the dock and had to contact support for help. After that I got the hang of docking slowly but firmly for the three beeps lol!! Since then it’s been smooth sailing. Parking is limited where I live and I often have to park a 20 minute walk or more away. Accessing the bikes makes it so much easier and faster, as well as zipping around town for various appointments. Took me a minute but now I love this service.

### 5/5 — Surprisingly affordable

*2024-06-16*

I and my son were visiting LA, and got wanted to explore the city without paying a lot for micro mobility options, after spending $16 for 10 minutes of riding 2 Lyme scooters.

We have discovered Metro City Bikes offering full day of riding option for only $5 per bike!

We rode for 20+ miles around the area and saw a bunch of places using e-bike models which were great for going uphill.

Using the app is straightforward, phone number + CC/ApplePay is sufficient to register and start riding in a few minutes.

Finally returning the bikes to a station and locking them we realized our trips were not ending due to the station being offline. That required a tech support ticket communication, with the picture proof of our returns to get unlocked virtually out of the prior trip. Tech Support was quick to communicate and resolve the issue, but I wish there were less duplicate emails being sent by the system.

Ideally there should be more e-bikes available, and also knowing the battery status through the app would eliminate depleted battery surprises if need to cover many miles.

### 5/5 — Biking

*2023-02-01*

Absolutely love how the app works as well as technical support that organization provides in case of any difficulties. Also, saw that all the bikes are sanitized and cleaned. Overall very impressed with the service and support.

### 5/5 — Best way to commute downtown

*2023-01-27*

LA becoming more bikable city every day. There is no way to beat the rush hour traffic then taking a bicycle from LA Metro Bike share station.
Also the app runs smoothly with a hiccup. Try it for yourself.

### 5/5 — Good Bike Share program with a good app.

*2022-10-21*

Works great! Happy with the improvements they have made over the year I’ve been using it.

### 5/5 — Amazing! 🤩

*2022-10-07*

My car was stolen a few weeks ago 😱 and these convenient and easy to use machines have all but saved my entire commute!!!! 🚲 super easy to use, very well maintained and one of my favorite parts of the day!

### 5/5 — Used first time June 2022

*2022-06-08*

To add a counterpoint to a lot of negative reviews, I had a good experience using the app and renting a bike. Downloaded app, created an account just with email and password, purchased a 1-ride pass within the app using Apple Pay / stored credit card on iOS, walked up to a dock, picked a bike, selected the corresponding number and unlocked the bike. After riding, redocked the bike which ended the trip. Worked pretty seamlessly and only spent about 2 minutes before being able to take a bike and ride.

Would like to see more electric bikes and more docking stations. Found myself in between docks when getting lunch and decided to just keep the bike rather than walk 6 blocks to park it and there’s no way to secure the bike unless you bring your own lock if doing that.

### 5/5 — Way better than BCycle

*2022-04-24*

The other app wouldnt work during login, with this i had no problems
