Metro flex definitely helps with saving money when traveling places to place but the wait times are diabolical to what it used to be. Wait times went from 5-10 minutes to 30-40+ minutes through out the years which is very inconvenient and on top of the long wait, a lot of drivers end up picking up homeless or aggressive people, drive slow, and/or constantly not following gps or going to wrong drop off/pick up locations, which can be insufferable. Especially if you’re running late. If you’re in the Renton/downtown Renton area this happens more frequently than not. ### 2/5 — Not working *2025-12-01, version 4.22.2* It’s all glitchy and I can’t track my ride and we also need metro flex in Bellevue we still have not have it in bellevue location ### 4/5 — For the most part, pretty good *2025-04-22, version 4.19* Estimated times of arrival aren’t very accurate, but the service is very helpful. ### 4/5 — Great but some improvements needed *2025-04-17* I’ve been using Metroflex for 2 years since it was created. It has been a a convenient and good service for the most part getting to places the buses can’t, though wait times are pretty long and it can be tricky booking, so I think that’s something that can improve. It’d also be great if they can extend theKent boundary further , like down to the Canyon Ridge Plaza or downtown Kent. ### 2/5 — More cars needed to accommodate Return to Office *2025-03-05* With more and more employees returning to office there is no parking available at the light rail stations so I try to utilize this service to bring me to/from the light rail. Recently it has been impossible to book rides resulting in me being late for work or stuck at the station after work for over 30 min waiting for a ride home (bus option involves over a mile walk to my house). Drivers tell me that high school student have been utilizing the metro flex cars after school requiring drivers to wait in long school pick up lines and also students booking/cancelling rides at the last minute. Apparently these rides are free to students and as a result are taking advantage of this service which is needed by working professionals, senior citizens and parents for legitimate reasons. Cars from Kenmore should not have to be diverted to Kirkland just because students don’t want to take a bus, walk or ask their parents for a ride. Keep the cars where they are scheduled to be! ### 4/5 — App needs us to add schedule the ride!! *2025-01-08* Nice app but if you guys can extend to burien too it be great but that not my concern right now. 1. When a driver decides to take a brake I shouldn’t wait for him/her to get off their brake to come get me. 2. It would be great if you could schedule rides instead of them coming to get us right away once’s I request. 3. When you try to call the driver it dose not called them it sends you the call center of metro flex we’re they don’t pick up the phone. Their should be a way I can text the driver so I can let them know “hey I’m over at the bus stop” instead of them driving right by me and making me walk father to them. ### 3/5 — great app, but hire more drivers. *2024-12-13* the waittimes are absolutely ABYSMAL‼️‼️‼️ especially during busy hours like right after school. i had to wait a whole hour at one point and THEN SOME bc of there being only one driver juggling multiple kids at a time ### 3/5 — ISSUES WITH THE WAIT TIME ON THE APP *2024-11-14* I just want to say that this service has been beneficial to me in terms of saving money at the trade off of potentially waiting 30min to an hour just so I can get a about a 7-10 minute drive to work or home. However whenever I see that a driver is 5 minutes away I immediately assume that it’s going to take 5 minutes for them to get to my pick up location but instead it turns into another 30min wait despite them being so close. I spoke with one of the drivers recently and apparently this has been an ongoing issue. The app doesn’t take into account that the driver may have an emergency whether it’s being stuck in traffic or needing to use the bathroom. I think drivers should have the option of updating the wait time if something unexpected is happening and save the headache of customers expecting their ride to arrive at the pickup location in a few minutes. Before I end this review, another pet peeve I have is being told to take the bus and I wish it showed me where the bus is on the map and where it’s coming from! I really REALLY want this Service to work and has so much potential. ### 2/5 — It’s ok *2024-11-06* So when it does work it’s great gets me to where I’m going faster but lately at anytime I use it doesn’t matter if it’s early in the morning or 3 in the after noon I’m always told to take the bus and if I was trying to take a bus I wouldn’t be using this stupid app and then the times I do get a ride I’m waiting 40min to an hour and I even get drivers who are supposedly on break. Why am I getting drivers who are on break makes no sense this app is garbage sometimes just sometimes ### 2/5 — App Interface *2024-10-22, version 4.17.4* I am not able to see all the information on the app, including how soon my driver arrives and his contact info. The screen zooms in and blocks half the text. ### 3/5 — Refused service during working hours *2024-10-13* It’s 2pm on a Sunday and I just tried to request a ride within Issaquah boundaries. Had a pop up saying I was requesting outside if working hours. Why have that message show up when its in the middle of the day on a weekend when your error massage says weekends 7am-7pm is within working hours ### 4/5 — Great ride! *2024-07-18* Today my friend called for us, and the ride with in 10 minutes! Was amazingly easy and nice. I’ll have to check with her on the number she called because last week I called repeatedly and it said riders or busy. I’m thinking I might have the wrong number.😒 ### 3/5 — Bad spot to be picked up in *2024-07-13* So today I booked a ride to get home from issaquah fredmeyer and instead of SE Black Nugget Rd where it usually places as the designated spot I had to go to SE 62nd St to be picked up at. It was very heavy in traffic with all the cars going in from multiple directions. Another passenger was confused where to go and had to cross the street in order to get the ride. I wish there was an option to choose the designated areas to be picked up in. ### 3/5 — Inconsistency *2024-05-21* In summary, good for convenience and necessity, poor for reliability. No, It cannot replace a car and it is not as reliable as Lyft/Uber. Metroflex is a Partnership with Tel-Aviv, Israel based Via Transportation and King County. How does it work? Via provides all the logistics and technical coordination when you make a pick-up request. This service is provided through a contract with the Israeli company. The experience has changed from very consistent and reliable to inconsistent and unreliable after King County decided to expand service and rebrand Via’s service as “Metroflex”. Your experience will vary based on your location. I personally experienced discomfort and rudeness too often to continue using the service. Also, customer service is poor. The best audience for Via: students without cars, elderly who are unable to drive. ### 2/5 — 2 Stars *2024-04-25, version 4.11.18* They should really hire more drivers because I’m sick of waiting 30+ minutes almost everytime I book one. And everytime I call the driver, they don’t pick up. ### 2/5 — Great when it works but not reliable *2024-03-24* I use this to get to work from a bus stop, and while it's great when it does work properly, multiple times I've been screwed over from the unpredictable app. It once added another stop when the driver was already close to me, forcing them to u-turn. You'd think the app was first-come-first-serve through a queue, but apparently not. And the random shuffling of drivers seems to not make sense. The drivers are great and are just doing their jobs. The app is the #1 cause of unreliability. So even if you pick up a ride half an hour or more before you want to leave, your driver is constantly working (I don't even know if they receive breaks), you're at the mercy of a completely unpredictable app ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Terrible App *2025-06-04* I couldn’t log onto app to get ride. Customer Service said try later. 2nd call they were able to fix it. App kept telling me 5 minutes away. Even when driver pulled up to get me. The app gives you a dotted line where to meet the metro flex but in a big shopping center with bags of food it is hard to find and walk around with bags. Also ever drive seems to have a different pick up spot or leaves because you are not at their pick up spot ### 1/5 — Garbage app *2025-05-09* They are just unreliable one day you could get a ride in 5-10min another day you could be waiting 45min to an hour. Or you get a ride and you’ll be next in the queue to be picked up and then boom you’re waiting for another 30min which happened to me before don’t rely on metro flex ### 1/5 — Can’t figure this app out *2025-02-06* I’m trying to figure out how much credit I have left on my Orca card. My daughter put money down to start my account about a year ago. I called the Metro Flex phone number today and the operator there could not give me that info. So a good initiative which is just a hog wash . Drivers take longer than estimated time. I wouldn’t be using Metroflex if there’s an easy Metro Bus I can hop on so stop showing me normal bus routes. Drivers will go from 2 minutes away to 30 minutes away over the course of 3 minutes making it hard to get a ride. I wish there was a schedule option. Sometimes I’m booking rides 45 minutes in advanced at the end of my work shift just to get a ride. I’m constantly late to work because of them. ### 1/5 — terrible app and service. *2023-05-21* don’t even get me started with this app. this app literally always glitches, and keeps telling me to take a bus. the drivers are also rude, and sometimes they’re even confused with how to use the app along with the GPS. a fair amount of drivers told me that the GPS doesn’t work, or that my drop-off address doesn’t even show sometimes. i’ve also had some more issues, recently being that i had a driver who drove me around the same block 5 times, and then stopped in the middle of the road for 10 minutes. he claimed that it was his first time working for metro flex, and that he didn’t know how to use the app. another time was when i literally got kicked out of the metro flex because i didn’t bring my orca card, and mind you i am a minor, so i shouldn’t even have to use my orca card because i thought that it was supposed to be free. please fix your app, or bring back via to transit. i’m so tired of this, and i am definitely not willing to book an uber or a lyft because i’m not spending money just to get myself to school and back home every day. how will i get to school when i can’t even rely on a simple app to take me because of how dumb it is along with the service? i am very disappointed. ### 1/5 — Workers don’t get breaks, gps is terrible. *2023-03-18* The gps on this app has never function properly for any of my drivers, ever. The app books drivers who are already on their break and forces them to get it cut short even though they already get paid little. I was literally in the car and my driver had been working for 8 hours asking his boss for a break and he just hung up on him.
