## What is Metro?

Metro puts the NYC subway on your Home Screen, and in your pocket, with real-time arrival data, multi-line widgets, and a clean, minimal map designed for riders who just want to know when the next train is coming.

WIDGETS THAT ACTUALLY WORK
Small, medium, and large Home Screen widgets show live arrival countdowns for your pinned stations. Choose Grid mode to see multiple stations at once, or Single mode to focus on one station at a time with a tap-to-switch button. Set a widget to Nearest Station and it automatically shows arrivals for whatever stop you're closest to — no configuration needed. Tap any station on a widget to jump straight to it on the map.

Every widget shows Uptown and Downtown arrivals side by side, updates every 60 seconds, and includes a manual refresh button when you need the latest data right now. Active service alerts are flagged directly on your widget so you know before you leave the house.

A BEAUTIFUL, MINIMAL MAP
Every subway line drawn in official MTA colors. Station dots colored by line — white at transfer points. Zoom in and station names and route badges appear automatically. Double-tap a station to zoom to street level. Tap to see full arrival details with the option to pin it to your widgets. Filter the map to show only your pinned stations, or tap the location button to jump to your current position.

SERVICE ALERTS
Delays, planned work, service changes, and suspensions — pulled directly from official feeds and updated every 60 seconds. Alerts show on station dots, in station detail views, and in a dedicated alerts screen with filtering by category.

REAL-TIME ARRIVALS
Powered by the MTA's public GTFS-Realtime feeds — the same data source the official countdown clocks use. See the next trains for every route at every station, grouped by direction, with live minute-by-minute countdowns. Station route badges update by time of day so you see what's actually running right now, not what runs at 2 AM.

NEARBY STATIONS
Uses your location to find the closest subway stations, sorted by distance. Every station shows which lines serve it so you can make quick transfer decisions.

PIN YOUR FAVORITES
Pin the stations you use every day. Drag to reorder, swipe to delete. Your pinned stations sync across all your devices via iCloud and are available to your widgets instantly.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2.2 — 2026-05-20

This release tightens arrival accuracy to match what you see on the platform.

• Delayed trains are now flagged as "Delayed" — in orange, just like station signs — instead of an unreliable countdown.
• Trains rerouted onto a different track show as tentative, so you know the ETA may shift.
• Cancelled and skipped trips no longer appear in arrivals.
• Stale realtime feeds trigger the offline notice instead of serving outdated predictions.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-04-29

No more silent widgets.

When arrivals can't load, you'll now see exactly why — with a one-tap retry:
• Can't reach the network
• Pinned station no longer in service
• Station data still loading

We also added the retry button in the in-app station view.

### 1.1 — 2026-04-14

• Clearer station badges: only shows routes that actually stop there at the current hour, so you'll never see the A at a local-only stop in the middle of the day
• Share Metro with a friend from Settings
• Smoother network handling when switching between tabs
• Under-the-hood cleanup

### 1.0 — 2026-04-13

No release notes.
