The key one is the 'mirage' bus, one that is actually being reported purely from the timetable but appears to be from real time. This manifestation can often be exposed by looking at the map associated with the bus - but, infuriatingly, not always. The second, rarer but if anything more annoying, is the bus which is shown as continuing to its destination but in fact is being taken out of service as it arrives at your stop. Beware of Crawley Bus Station on that one. Both of these happened to me recently : two 100s arriving at Crawley Bus Station in succession as per the real time info - only to be taken out of service, and at a nearby stop a mirage 20 bus followed by another 20 minutes later which blinked in and out of real time - but it in fact was real. Apps have bugs now and again. What matters is how quickly the publisher fixes them. On that, Metrobus scores a one * only. ### 3/5 — AWKWARD APP *2024-07-05* As reported previously, it is extremely annoying/frustrating that when using a page for a particular route - then making various choices on a timetable for example - the two / from route direction repeatedly reverts to the default app choice. Eg ‘to Redhill’ keeps jumping back to ‘Hurst Green’ with no input from the user ### 3/5 — Fine - when it works, but beware *2023-11-28* I’ve used this app for years and at the start it was pretty good. So was Metrobus. Sadly no more. The main problem with Metrobus is that it continues to cancel services. The problem with the app is that it still shows these services as running. Worse still, contrary to Metrobus’s claim that if a bus isn’t being tracked in real time, the timetable time is shown instead, it shows ‘real time’ info on the non existant service. Both I and my brother have been caught out by that untruth before. If you are going to use the app, do NOT rely on the real time departure unless you can see the bus on the tracking map. If it’s where it should be, fine. If not, be very wary. It might come, but in my experience it probably won’t. The other problem with this app is in ticketing. I bought an electronic ticket, activated it when the bus was a couple of minutes away and bang. I was logged out of the app. No ticket. Ever tried to log back into an app while your bus is waiting patiently at the stop. Not good. I buy with cash again. As I said above, they used to be good but it is clear that the app, like the company is not being managed very well right now. ### 2/5 — Great when it works!! *2023-09-12* Have used this to book tickets a couple of times but why is it when you beed it most and are about to board a bus it will not load the ticket info really frustrating!!! ### 2/5 — Not accurate *2022-06-21* I don’t find this app accurate as you find yourself waiting nearly up to an hour for the bus. I planned my journey carefully and left early to attend an important driving theory test. Despite this, the bus did not arrive on time, which caused a delay completely out of my control. As a result, I arrived late and was unable to take my test. Because of this failure in service, I have now lost £23 for my theory test and £1.75 on bus fare, which is very upsetting. This situation could have been avoided if the bus had run as scheduled. Public transport is supposed to be reliable, especially when people depend on it for important appointments. Due to this poor service, I have suffered both financial loss and unnecessary stress. Metrobus must take responsibility for delays and improve reliability, as this level of service is simply not acceptable. ### 1/5 — Expensive a-holes *2026-03-15, version 111* You can’t get a normal child single. It advised the next bus was running late but would be operating. The incoming bus was getting later and later and was 25 minutes late when it arrived. The driver then made an ‘executive decision’ to cancel the bus without advising awaiting passengers. The Sunday service is every 2 hours in Epsom for both the 460 and 480 routes - so quite a wait for the next bus. Basically do not believe what the app tells you. ### 1/5 — Awful *2022-12-21* The app is useless, barely shows any of the bus trackers so leaves you standing at a stop for ages before you can tell it’s cancelled.
