### 3/5 — Monthly Pass

*2026-02-24, version 7.9.2*

I don’t see monthly pass in the app.

### 2/5 — Over complicated

*2025-08-04, version 7.8.35*

Great for buying tickets but beyond that you’re on your own. You have to jump between screens to see what you want. Luckily there are helpful station agents at LA union station to give you track numbers when you only have 10 minutes to transfer trains.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2025-04-20, version 7.8.24*

Doesn’t have a map

### 1/5 — Don’t Use Metrolink

*2025-03-31, version 7.8.24*

Bare minimum service super confusing to use they don’t give you any information on train times or locations you have to find everything separately on your own. Also the train numbers on the app don’t match with the numbers on the trains 😭😭 0 star if i could 🤦🏻‍♂️

### 2/5 — Not complete

*2025-03-25, version 7.8.24*

Why can’t they tell you which gate or track number your train is on in the app or on the ticket itself instead of having to find a board at the station to find it? Seems it wouldn’t be difficult.

### 1/5 — It’s A scam

*2025-03-25, version 7.8.24*

Richard hawes made this app to stalk and harass me. He’s a sick individual

### 2/5 — Needs major updating for push notifications

*2025-03-11*

I find it super annoying when there’s a delay or a train cancelation once I already arrive at the train station. I wish there was a feature where I can get notifications for the specific train line I usually take notifying me of a train cancellation or delay immediately so I don’t waste my time and money in the mornings when I have to go to work. This app would be golden if it had that.

### 2/5 — Spam

*2025-02-23, version 7.8.24*

I started getting text messages to pay tolls or get penalty. Somehow it got my phone number when i downloaded this app. Beaware.

### 1/5 — I like circles, but not that much…

*2025-02-09, version 7.8.24*

Clicking the button on the app to buy a ticket takes you to the Metrolink website, which says to download the app to purchase tickets. There is a button on the app for purchasing tickets. It was then that I decided to post a review of my experience.

### 1/5 — If I could give this app 0 stars I would

*2024-12-21, version 7.8.24*

Got the app after being told I needed it for them to see a purchased ticket (which is stupid in and of itself. You should be able to get the QR code from the confirmation email they send or through the website like a normal train ticket but I digress) and the ticket I purchased wasn’t even showing up, even after I signed in to my account. And I def wasn’t paying for a new ticket. Literally downloaded the app for no reason. Hey Metrolink, INCLUDE THE QR CODE WITH THE RECEIPT. Why does everything have to be through a broken and useless app these days?

### 2/5 — New versions GLITCH

*2024-12-06, version 7.8.24*

Well first thing if you click in App Store on App support link “page not found”. The main problem is cellular connectivity in the last two versions of the App. I cannot login to Metrolink App, or purchase tickets unless I’m on WiFi or Someone else’s Hotspot. I called the 800# and they referred it somewhere? I haven’t heard back yet.

### 3/5 — Needs a few modifications

*2024-11-07, version 7.8.24*

Please add a feature where we can add favorite trains. This way there’s an easy way to see schedule delays/cancellations. It’s ridiculous to have to click through the app every day to find a train(s) someone rides everyday to ensure it’s on time.

### 1/5 — Warning - future purchases

*2024-10-30, version 7.8.24*

App gave me zero indication that I was buying a ticket that expires at midnight tonight (instead of one that I could use tomorrow). In fact, the “activation” language seemed to indicate I could buy a ticket now and activate it before my journey. Metrolink just got a free $23 that I can never get back.

### 2/5 — App works but needs work

*2024-10-01, version 7.8.18*

The navigation on this app is lazy at best. There’s an issue where if you navigate into certain menus you can’t navigate back to your ticket or vice versa without killing the app.

Do better. Please.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2024-09-06, version 7.8.18*

Customer service is unhelpful.

### 1/5 — Charged me but never Issued ticket

*2024-07-26, version 7.8.18*

The app charged me for a ticket and never issued me a ticket. I missed my train because of it.

### 1/5 — Made in online ticket purchase, but it’s not showing on the app.

*2024-07-22, version 7.8.18*

Thankfully I have the receipt, ID and proof of purchase so I can show it to security.

### 1/5 — Metrolink isn’t affordable to common man YET

*2024-07-10, version 7.8.18*

Metrolink isn’t affordable to common man YET. Coming from New York, monthly pass was much affordable. The app does not make it easy and traveling in metro isn’t convenient to make our travel “Anytime”. Your app is so boring, unattractive and hard to see schedules.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-07-25*

The Metrolink app is very confusing and not user-friendly. It wasn’t clear how the tickets worked or when they could be used. I ended up buying a ticket that I couldn’t use because the app didn’t explain the restrictions well, so I completely wasted my money. The whole experience was frustrating, and the app made what should have been a simple process much more difficult than it needed to be. They really need to improve the app’s design and make ticket information much clearer.

### 1/5 — Input Debit card info

*2026-04-07, version 7.9.2*

You make it difficult to input credit card info without having to make to ticket purchase.

Online it says how to add a debit card but none of those subtitle folders exist in the app that leads to inputing the debit card info.

### 1/5 — Delete your codebase and start again

*2026-03-18, version 7.9.2*

This is so atrocious it doesn’t even deserve the excuse of underfunded

### 1/5 — Ticket restrictions not clearly stated

*2026-03-10, version 7.9.2*

App works fine, but ticket restrictions are not clearly stated anywhere. Recommend not buying tickets until just before the trip. Tickets I bought had a 5 hour use restriction which was not mentioned anywhere. And metrolink won’t refund under any circumstance .

### 1/5 — 5 hour expiration?

*2026-02-06, version 7.9.2*

Tickets that are purchased but not activated expire in five hours. So dumb. Denver”s RTD app uses the same underlying technology this app is based on. But unactivated RTD tickets expire in 45 days. That allows customers to plan travel and make changes. Why does Metrolink need this draconian five hour expiration policy?

### 1/5 — Confusing

*2026-01-21, version 7.9.2*

App tells me i can buy tix on it but the doesnt prompt me for anything but pricing. It keeps sending me back to the App Store to download the app when i am already in the app!

### 1/5 — Absolutely worthless

*2026-01-11, version 7.9.2*

Can’t pay for tickets on the app and can’t access schedules. I had to pay at the kiosks at the station.

### 1/5 — Still useless

*2025-12-09, version 7.8.35*

All the services are just links to the already insufferable website.

Tried to book a day pass for tomorrow and I needed to select a route for a full day pass? Then, I wasn’t promoted for the date selection and it charged be for a day pass for 5h when I bought at 10pm???? There’s only one train available at 10pm for the route I was already weirdly required to select.

### 1/5 — Circular Insanity

*2025-10-23, version 7.8.35*

Every time I click “buy ticket online” on the app it brings me back to the “download the app” page, which then opens the App Store, prompting me to “open the app”. Guess I’ll go back to the clunky ticket machine from the 20th century. No cause to drag Metrolink kicking and screaming into the 21st century when the 22nd century is right around the corner.

### 1/5 — LAMetro

*2025-04-23, version 7.8.24*

Never works at LAMetro turnstiles.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — No Problems

*2023-08-21, version 7.8.13*

I have had no problems with this app. It lets you buy tickets, you validate them, show them to the conductor, perfectly fine. I’ve used this app several times when visiting LA and it is perfectly fine.

### 5/5 — Favorites and back button 10x improvement

*2023-06-26*

Favorites saved like 5 clicks buying a ticket (for regular riders), and the back button from the schedule menu avoids having to restart the app.

Thank you product manager / bureaucrat who transmuted feedback into a better UX! Please, enjoy my 5 star review dopamine hit, and what may likely be the highlight of your otherwise mundane day 🙏🏼 you rock!

### 5/5 — Works great for purchase tickets

*2023-04-07, version 7.8.10*

The app works good for purchasing tickets using a credit/debit card instead of using the station machines. It shows your trips active and past. Works as expected. My suggestion is to accept PayPal.

### 5/5 — So easy

*2019-10-27, version 4.45.18*

So nice to just buy them with Apple Pay and not worry about waiting at the station kiosk.

### 5/5 — Worked as it should

*2019-06-27, version 4.35.11*

As a first time user, taking Flyaway from LAX to take the Metrolink (from LA union station to Moreno Valley), I had no issues buying a ticket and using the app. Maybe the recent update addressed the problems most users have complained about. So far I had no issues. Will def use again!

### 5/5 — Works for LAX FlyAway too

*2019-05-08*

Landed at the LAX and bought tickets to Union Station via FlyAway bus. Worked like a charm!

### 5/5 — Generally great

*2018-10-29, version 4.20.7*

The latest update addresses everything I’ve ever wanted from the app.

The ability to QUICKLY get to my current pass from a 3D press finally makes this worthy of 5 stars from me.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2018-05-17*

Tourist in LA! Purchased Lax Flyaway ticket and it was so easy! Why can’t it always be this simple!!

### 4/5 — Functional, Not Stylish

*2026-04-07, version 7.9.2*

It seems like the developer has continued to improve the app since the most negative reviews were written. Payment is easy, choosing your route based on station of origin and destination is clear, the ticket wallet is separate from old expired tickets…the thing seems fine!

### 4/5 — Works. Some Bugs.

*2024-06-05*

Overall works fine. However if you have a ticket open and the next day open the app back up, the ticket will of course be expired but when you click close to go back to the wallet, there isn’t a back button to take you back to the Home Screen. You have to force quit the app to be able to return to the Home Screen where you have your favorite trips listed.
