We all have shiny, beautiful devices and I for one actually care how the app looks.. I use this app a lot and it would help to have something nice to look at. The ability to speed up and slow down the tempo is essential for developing accuracy at speed. I'm the kind of guy who wants even more features than this has, so I hope the updates keep adding them. If you prefer simplicity, this ain't your metronome. An analogy: it's the metronome equivalent of Finale notation software. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — App was great before iOS 11 and 64-bit apps *2019-12-13* This app was great and easy to use for creating sequences before iOS 11. The app temporarily didn’t work when iOS 11 began running 64-bit apps. The developer eventually updated the app, but it doesn’t work the same anymore. I wish there was a website or video with directions for creating sequences with multiple meters. The developer needs to release a page with detailed instructions with the latest updates for creating more complicated sequences. You’re better off looking for another app for creating rhythms and extended metronomes with meter changes for practicing. **Developer response:** Hi, Thanks for your review. The website now contains tutorial videos and a downloadable pdf user manual. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work, no support, con *2019-07-22, version 3.0.1* No support (developer website is dead). Makes hideous electronic squeals and awful digital drones. Clicks don’t work. No instructions. Total con. Thanks for nothing. How about my money back, Apple? ### 1/5 — Really poor documentation *2018-11-19* There is none that I can find. App lets one put any number of note values in a bar, so what sense is it to have meter? I see no way to make a simple thing like a triplet. There's nothing to review or say about it because I can't use it even though I paid for it. ### 1/5 — Awkward as All Get Out *2011-04-07, version 2.1* Nigh impossible to configure the way I want it. E.g., can't figure out WHY those stupid 'dot beats' are inserted at the end of each bar/phrase. Let alone HOW to get them the heck out of there. ### 1/5 — Don't buy this app! *2010-08-16* It is very difficult to figure out how to get the app to work because the directions are impenetrable, for starters. After messing around with it for a couple weeks here and there, I was finally able to program a 6/4-5/4 pattern into the thing. Or so I thought. As I pressed the play button, the screen went blank, and the app froze. Now, I tap on the app, I get a blank metron screen, and then back to the home screen after a few seconds. I wrote the company two weeks ago and they did not respond. I'm deleting the app after I finish this review. I would recommend frozen ape tempo 2. It will do mixed meters and is reasonably easy to figure out how to use. ### 1/5 — As unintuitive as can be *2010-06-06, version 0* I hate this app. I'm sitting here feeling like I have to learn a new programming language. All I want to do is set up a bar of beats with audible subdivisions, but it beats me how to do it, even after consulting the user guide. I made a sequence for every rehearsal section. Wonderful for consistent practice.
