### 4/5 — Amazing App

*2025-01-31*

Just got this app. Absolutely loving it so far. It does provide things other apps don’t. I really love the check in feature where it ask about your mood then after you answer it suggest programs. One criticism, one thing I desperately need you to fix is the font size like the AI bit I talked with and the programs where transcription is offered there’s so much space for bigger font. I am legally blind so please do this. Also please make a native iPad app. I’ve got a big iPad so I can see things better and the iPad app is a phone shaped box in the middle with somehow smaller print than my iPhone (that’s all apps not native to iPad not just yours. Thank you & I look forward to making use of this app and the improvements to come.

UPDATE: After a couple of weeks I’d like to add a request for meditations/ programs relating to grief, loss, sadness & depression.

**Developer response:** Thanks very much for your feedback - we're constantly working to improve the app for all our users. We encourage you to email any feedback or suggestions to: hello@bemettle.com

### 3/5 — Hit and miss

*2024-11-25, version 2.1.2*

Some of the activities in the Mettle app are great, and there is a lot of very sound advice on offer here. I like the idea of breaking it down into two or three bite-size check ins or sessions throughout the day.
However, one big gripe I have is with the breath work sessions. Whilst i have found breath work in general to be very helpful, the timings Mettle give you in these sessions are really short for every breath. I can’t believe I’m the only person with a larger lung capacity? but every time I try one of the breathwork follow along sessions they tell you to breathe in, hold and then breathe out before I even finished barely breathing in! I’m not sure if anybody has actually tried these sessions themselves in real time?
Another very minor piece of feedback is about the inaccuracy of subtitles provided for some of the sessions. On some occasions I’ve decided to try a session in the office and I haven’t been able to do it with the sound on due to not having headphones to hand and not wanting those around me to know what I’m doing, so I’ve turned on subtitles. However a lot of the captions don’t make sense. I would assume they are A.I generated? For example on many occasions when I’ve opened the “Daily Mind Fuel” the subtitles say “welcome to your daily mindful”. There are plenty of other examples of bad subtitles in the app but this is just one that springs to mind.
Hopefully the app will continue to improve with testing and more feedback as I think the core principal is great.

### 2/5 — Boring & repetitive, very sad

*2024-11-01, version 2.1.1*

Felt excited when I downloaded it. First couple audio guides were great. Then it started being repetitive and annoying. Lots of different "coaches" keep saying exactly same thing over and over. Honestly don't care about paying for it. But wouldn't even use it if it was free. Hope it changes for better, but repetitiveness and lack of engaging content made me delete my account and uninstall the app. Sad. Hoped it would be much better

### 2/5 — Seemed to have technical issues

*2024-10-31, version 2.1.1*

I tried the 1 week free trial and would have liked to continue the subscription, however, there seems to be a technical issue whereby a large proportion of the content simply wouldn’t play. I would try and play an audio and nothing would happen. I tried over several days to see if this was a bug but the problem persisted. I messaged the developer but didn’t receive a response so cancelled the subscription. This is disappointing as I’m sure I would have got good value from the app. If this issue can be fixed I would certainly give it another go.

### 5/5 — 5 days in and really enjoying the journey

*2024-08-23*

I’ve tried other apps for mindfulness or mental health. For me this has been the best in terms of both variety but also I’m using it more than any other brand.

I’d highly recommend giving it a go.

### 5/5 — Life saver, but….

*2024-08-21, version 2.0.8*

This is a great app, but unfortunately the latest update has left the home screen too small.

Particularly on smaller screen smart phones. I can no longer read what is on the three suggested exercises for that day. Many thanks

### 5/5 — Awesome APP!

*2024-07-24, version 2.0.3*

Really inspiring and thought provoking content! Can’t recommend enough.

### 4/5 — Seems good but some UX issues

*2024-06-27*

I like the app so far but the bottom navigation isn’t always working so the user experience isn’t quite there yet.

**Developer response:** Hi Bennii
We're really delighted that you're enjoying using the app. We'd like to understand a little deeper the navigation issue you've reported. We're constantly working to improve the APP - if you can drop us a note to hello@bemettle.com with some details or a screen recording it will help us improve the experience for everyone.

### 5/5 — Game Changer

*2024-06-25, version 2.0.3*

I was feeling overwhelmed by financial and family pressures and a mate suggested Mettle. It has helped me feel a lot more positive and in control. I have enjoyed the mettle challenge and I do breathing exercises every day.

### 5/5 — Life Changer

*2024-06-19, version 2.0.3*

I am a student in university who struggled quite a bit in my first months. I had moved too a new city and I had no connections. In result I wasn’t feeling too energetic and my studies were going down. I then heard about Mettle and after I started using it my situation changed. I began to do well in school and outside of school. The app has allowed me to be more comfortable in my own skin, allowing me to overcome daily struggles. Thank you Mettle!

### 5/5 — A incredible support for mental health.

*2024-06-09, version 2.0.3*

I downloaded Mettle in January and after a couple of days using what was available for free, paid for the whole year. The quality and depth of what is available is brilliant. It has vastly improved my mental health from a pretty poor place, I am sleeping better and is a great ‘go to’ on a day I am feeling low. The way it is directed as men and the way things are presented is perfect if you are a guy who has been sceptical of these sorts of apps before or have tried another and didn’t get on with it. There is plenty on there to help with life even if you don’t feel like you are struggling. Nothing bad to say about it.

### 5/5 — My life

*2024-06-07, version 2.0.3*

This is brilliant, I'm now moving forward with my life

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Good but…

*2026-03-13, version 2.4.7*

I got this app at a hard time in my life. I used it every day for a year. It helped get me out of a depression. But I’m on social security and they want $39 for a year for an app I dont even use for 10 minutes a day. It’s not super unique. I don’t want to dog the app but I feel it’s $10 overpriced so I didn’t renew. In a whole year not a single improvement or any change was made. As soon as I’m not subscribed anymore now I’m getting a lot of new notifications I never got before including announcements for men’s meetings online that I’m not welcome in because I paid last year not this year. Like I said, good app but not terribly unique and $10 too high & zero changes and improvements from January 2025- January 2026. How about send me a please come back notification with a deal or promo code. I’m in a mental health rehabilitation program and talked this app up hard for a year & I felt like I paid a bit too much and now I feel insulted by all the app notifications I’m now getting that I never got as a paid subscriber.

### 1/5 — Needs Improvement

*2025-10-20, version 2.4.7*

Previously wrote a different review but I’ve finally got my money back.
I loved the app so brought the life time subscription. Then days later got charged for the monthly subscription. After numerous emails the developer was incapable of activating my subscription. Finally got my money back through Apple. It’s a shame though because I thought I had found something that could really help day to day. It was helping until the developer couldn’t activate a paid subscription.
If I was to choose money or improved mental heath I would pick health. This app does even give me a choice as apparently I can’t have/pay for a subscription……

### 1/5 — Stopped working suddenly

*2025-06-06, version 2.4.6*

Email address no longer recognized, unable to login with my subscription. Unfortunately the application no longer works.

### 1/5 — Not really helpful

*2024-11-17, version 2.1.2*

It's all just empty platitudes, the current approach lacks concrete solutions and practical benefits.

### 1/5 — No.

*2024-11-13, version 2.1.2*

Cheats you into asking for your email then instantly asks for your bank details. Avoid, how dare you abuse men’s wellbeing like this.

### 1/5 — Won’t even work

*2024-09-29, version 2.0.8*

App won’t even let you past opening survey, waste of time

### 1/5 — This looks like a great App to actually empower and support men

*2024-08-13, version 2.0.7*

The saddest thing about any App it is invariably going to cost money ti an already anxious and stressed out person who is genuinely looking for support. As a Psychologist I understand that Mental Health and well being are heavily impacted by finances and this is a compounding factor to increasing Anxiety and Mental Health conditions.
Although this App looks amazing and full respect to Bear Grills and his Team, however I feel it would be more compassionate and respectful and caring towards create an App for FREE for persons that are in need of your support.

Something to consider as care should not have price restrictions.

### 1/5 — Concerned

*2024-05-30, version 2.0.1*

Once again another mental health alternative that I have to pay for. I have suffered with PTSD, depression and anxiety for many years. I’m currently off work due to my condition and can’t even walk into a shop without turning back round and leaving. I have completed 2 years of therapy which helped me but feel I need more help. Last month was pretty dark. I can’t afford £65 a hour for help and the 2 year waiting list is a joke, but here is a company that’s going to change the world of men’s health for only £6 a month. It’s a disgrace really this should be free or at very minimal cost, not to line someone’s back pocket. I downloaded the app with excitement thinking this could work only to see it costs money. Seriously, there will be people far worse than myself with the same excitement as myself. To only get knocked down again by profit. Not on really.

### 1/5 — Mental health give us your wealth

*2024-05-29, version 2.0.1*

I’m couldn’t find a single free exercise to see if I though the app is worth £70 a year. Seems mental health is only available if you have excess wealth!! DELETED

### 1/5 — The app itself

*2024-05-23, version 2.0.1*

Show me who suffers with anxiety and went to a special knee school didn’t find this very helpful in fact it just made me more not wanting to use this because some who special needs can’t get my in the SAS or things like that or get a good job bank manager or start that company he always gets the Mickey taken out of his at work sometimes I feel like and it my life because of people taking the piss out of me at work

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This works so well!

*2026-02-09, version 2.4.7*

Mettle has helped me through the toughest year of my life thru really easy to use daily content from Bear and the team. Just takes a few minutes a day and transforms my state, especially in the morning when I’m super stressed. Love it! I’m a different man thanks to
Mettle!

### 5/5 — Awesome.

### 5/5 — Advocate

*2025-01-14, version 2.1.2*

Hi i would like to advocate this app to my WE ARE MEN TG group i have…is there room for affiliate or partnership

### 5/5 — Incredible stuff!

*2025-01-05, version 2.1.2*

I really wish I could rate this higher. 5 stars is not enough. This has genuinely started to change my life. I’ve only been using it for 3 weeks. I missed a few days but was able to just pick up where I left off. I have ADHD, OCD and suffer chronic panic. This is genuinely helping me to manage all 3, where other support tools have failed. The breathing exercises really do work. The gentle tones of all the narrations are very calming and soothing to listen to. It’s easy to split into bite size chunks each day make it easy for anyone no matter how busy you are. I’d set several alarms each day to do some and I already don’t need the alarms as it’s on my mind at the same times each day already. 10/10 would absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone. Thank you for creating this!!!!
