### 4/5 — Excellent with a but….

*2026-04-06, version 2023.4*

Excellent app but why does it not recognize the classical music performances, opera, NY Philharmonic etc that are as big in NY as Broadway, if not bigger.

### 4/5 — Perfectly fine app, deeply tasteless userbase

*2026-02-01, version 2023.4*

The app works fine and is barebones and functional, I legitimately love that people can’t dm me or respond to my reviews. That is especially great because the userbase writ large, at least for Broadway shows, are tasteless, undiscerning musical-fandom yokels who rank everything five stars if it has a celebrity they recognize or have a crush on from tiktok, a soundtrack they liked as a preteen, or a cast who feeds their parasocial obsessions by doing stagedoor, and who regularly trash anything that is dramatic, not a musical, challenging, or remotely complex. Bad for recommendations for good theater, great place to keep track of what you’ve seen and figure out your own tastes.

### 4/5 — So fun

*2025-07-17, version 2023.4*

Convenient, easy to use, user-friendly and versatile. I wish it expanded to markets other than NYC and London.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-06-08, version 2023.4*

I’ve had this app for almost 2 years and I absolutely love it, the visuals are so nice and it’s very easy to see what’s what in the diary, I love the feature of showing analytics of how many shows you’ve seen/ratings etc, overall this is an amazing app and I love it

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2025-06-01, version 2023.4*

It doesn’t let me type for some reason and it’s missing shows that i want to log but i like how it’s like letterboxd

### 4/5 — Great app!!

*2025-05-13, version 2023.4*

Love being able to log all of my shows, really easy to use! I would love to see the ratings not as the final number of stars given but as the number of stars given out of five (so always having 5 stars and depending on the rating, it changes how filled in the stars are).

### 5/5 — Amazing underrated and thoughtful

*2025-05-06, version 2023.4*

So underrated and incredible and needs all the credit for how great it is Not the most effective if you haven’t seen most of your shows on Broadway or west end but if you have, this is sensational

### 5/5 — really good!!

*2025-04-29, version 2023.4*

easy navigation and reviewing, clean interface, and a wide variety of productions

some features id like:
- heart/favourite icon
- different cover/poster options

otherwise, great job on the app and i will continue to use it :)

### 5/5 — Best app for tracking shows!!

*2025-04-20, version 2023.4*

I love this app! It just works - so easy to keep track of all my shows (both past and upcoming). And being a patron to unlock the photo feature—so worth it!!

### 5/5 — Exactly what I wanted

*2025-04-19, version 2023.4*

Love this app. It does exactly what I want - keeping track of shows I’ve seen - incredibly well with an easy and pleasing interface. Thanks to the developer for making something great!

### 5/5 — Perfection

*2025-03-30, version 2023.4*

I can't praise this app enough. I'm a proud Patron subscriber because I want to keep supporting it! It lets me track all the shows I've seen, add tags, ratings, seat locations, and notes. I'm trying to convince all of my friends to get it so we can follow each other. One of the best parts is that I can export all of my diary entries as a CSV, which allowed me to put that spreadsheet into a data dashboard where I can see charts and statistics about my theatre viewing. I've learned fun things from that such as the fact that I've seen 75 Broadway shows and apparently my favorite seat to sit in is Orchestra D-109! Thanks so much for creating this app – it's so beautifully done and it's so special to have.

### 4/5 — Suggested new features

*2025-02-19, version 2023.4*

Great start to a letterboxd equivalent for theatre goers. So features I’d love to see would be collaborate lists between following / followers.
Friends status for users for you follow and follow them. Dedicated ‘watchlist’ where the show is automatically removed when added to the diary. Function of review privacy that’s maybe friends only ?
Maybe a display on the show itself which shows if your friends have engaged with the show by being on a list or diary entry.

### 5/5 — Letterboxd but for Theatre!

*2025-01-22, version 2023.4*

Love it

### 5/5 — My Theatre Diary

*2025-01-06, version 2023.4*

I love this app so much, it is exactly what I wanted!

### 4/5 — nice app but would love for it to play into the social aspect

*2025-01-05, version 2023.4*

The app is very nice. I appreciate how you can log literally everything and tracks what theaters you've been to. That said, I would love for it to play more into the social aspect like how Letterboxd does for movies, such as liking other people's reviews, seeing the most popular reviews rather than just what was most recent, having the ability to comment on someone's reviews rather than, etc.

### 5/5 — A wonderful trip down Memory Lane

*2024-12-30, version 2023.4*

A friend posted about using this app on social media. I immediately downloaded it, grabbed my stack of old Playbills and went to work. I forgot how many shows I went to in high school and my early college days. Now my only question is do I add the shows I was in myself…🤔

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-12-19, version 2023.4*

I love logging tv/films/books - so glad this app exists to log theatre! Does exactly as it should, even lets you log smaller amateur shows no issue. No complaints ◡̈

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Only for west end shows

*2024-03-03, version 2023.4*

Seems very focussed on the ‘big shows’ and doesn’t have listings for fringe productions. Shame, as it seems like a good idea.

### 1/5 — Musical movies

*2024-02-03, version 2023.4*

I thought this was everything musical app

### 1/5 — Was super good

*2023-08-14, version 2023.4*

Logged me out for no reason saying ‘they do this time to time for security reasons’ like what?? I have now lost my account as I am unsure of my password since I’ve had that account for TWO YEARS. No warning at all to say ‘btw you should change your password for security’ or ‘you will be logged out soon so write your bloody details down’ im so annoyed I loved the app but now there’s no point in using it as my years of logged data will take forever to redo. Not cool guys!! No other app randomly logs people out.

### 2/5 — Can’t type within the app??

*2024-11-01*

Cool idea, but none of the app’s text boxes/search bars seem able to open my keyboard, which prevents me from typing anything, from the name of the play I’ve seen, to the actual review, on the app. Instead, I keep having to write those elsewhere and copy-paste them into the app, which is cumbersome and annoying. Would love it to be fixed.

**Developer response:** Hi, I would love to learn more about this issue - would you mind reaching out to me at ben@theaterdiary.com?

### 2/5 — Designed for NY theater only

*2020-01-29*

This works well for Broadway shows. But it is surprisingly undeveloped for regional theater, even for major regional theater cities like Washington DC; and it also lacks some very basic interface features.

For DC, the app’s database doesn’t have even recent productions of major plays by popular regional theatres. It doesn’t even prepopulate the “theater” entry field for major regional theatres like Studio Theater or Arena Stage. So those theatre names and productions have to be manually entered.

Even worse, manual entries don’t appear to be saved. So each time I have to again manually type in the name of the theater.

The app doesn’t even appear to have a pull-down list of cities to select. Those too have to be typed in manually over and over again.

The lack of stored cities and regional theaters—and the failure to save even manual entries—not only makes using the app more cumbersome, but also introduces needless inconsistency and errors (if, for instance, I spell it “Washington, DC” one time and “Washington, D.C.” another time).

I think right now this app is best advertised as a way for New York theater fans to track what they’ve seen. It doesn’t seem to be minimally useful for productions outside of NY; it lacks even remedial features for regional theater, even though most theater happens outside of NY.

**Developer response:** Hi lip16, thanks for the feedback. As a DC theatergoer myself I'm working hard to improve the available productions outside of NYC. Currently Mezzanine has over 1,500 productions available but more are being added every day. In the meantime, as you mentioned, productions can be entered manually. And since version 1.1 Mezzanine will let you select from the theaters and cities you have entered used previously, so no more repeat or inconsistent data entry.

Hopefully Mezzanine becomes more useful for you over time. Thanks for trying it out.

Ben

### 3/5 — Recommendations for the app.

*2026-04-15, version 2023.4*

I love the app as it gives me a overview of my past musical shows. I would think it would be cool if a junior option could be added, as well as one for tours, as it only lets you do stationary show. Love the app though.

### 3/5 — No operas

*2026-01-07, version 2023.4*

I like it i would like to rate operas as well

### 3/5 — Good but needs more regional theatres

*2025-07-25, version 2023.4*

I wanted put put dear Evan Hansen on my diary but the uk tour wasn’t an option

### 3/5 — No keyboard

*2024-06-27, version 2023.4*

I just got the app and every time I try to type something the keyboard won’t show up this isn’t a review just I need help with that

### 3/5 — Great layout but doesn’t show regional theatre

*2024-01-20, version 2023.4*

Great app and easy to use but would be better if the available productions you can pick from the list included national tours. This is particularly irritating as the list of productions usually includes London tour stops, but does not allow you to specify that same tour production for a regional theatre

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — A lovely app!

*2026-07-14, version 2023.4*

I’m so glad to have learned about this app as a way to keep track of shows that I’ve seen. It’s very easy to use, and I appreciate being able to add both reviews and private notes as well as my own tags.

My only minor complaint is that I wish you could choose to show the dates in your diary by default even if you’ve added a rating. I’ve stopped adding ratings so I can see the dates at a glance, but I’d love to be able to do both.

### 5/5 — Letterboxd for Musicals!!

*2026-03-29, version 2023.4*

This app is amazing! I’ve been looking for a way to log my shows I go see with pictures, thoughts, ratings and keeping a record of it all. It’s an amazing app and I wish more people knew about it!

### 5/5 — Letterboxd for Broadway

*2026-02-08, version 2023.4*

Was looking for a Letterboxd for Broadway and voila! Thanks Ben!

### 5/5 — Brilliant, Letterboxd for Theater

*2026-01-28, version 2023.4*

Love this app. Great UI and fun to explore daily

### 5/5 — Love!

*2026-01-06, version 2023.4*

I love this app! I love being to see all the shows I’ve seen at a glance and I love reading other peoples reviews

### 5/5 — All rounder

*2025-11-27, version 2023.4*

It’s so hard to stay in engaged sometimes with theatre. But this is an excellent app.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2025-11-04, version 2023.4*

Thank you for making this app

### 5/5 — genuinely my fav app

*2025-10-31, version 2023.4*

as a frequent letterboxd, trakt & goodreads user i immediately became obsessed with tracking my theatre on this app. so easy to use and actually kind of addictive to any theatre kid. the stats tab on your profile is especially fun to use to see all the theatres you have visited on a global map!! i love it so much.

i do wish we could react to and write comments on mutual friends’ reviews

### 5/5 — Thanks for the memories!

*2025-08-13*

A great app for tracking the shows I’ve seen and the photos I took at the theater (not during the show!). And the list of production info it has is great! So much fun.

### 5/5 — i love this app!!

*2025-07-18, version 2023.4*

it's like letterboxd for musicals! the interface is great, i love getting to review and see other people's reviews of shows, and have a proper list curated of shows i would love to see!!
